I guess it was late when I wrote that. Should have wrote a "new distribution method for a OS that is sold to consumers".

That's quite narrow, and doesn't really say much.

Might as well say "new distribution method for a OS that starts with OS X."

That'll be 5 million freeband faster torrent downloads then. :p

(I had no idea how slow the Mac App Store was… should have taken a 12 hours(ish) for me to download lion on my speed. It took around 48.)

How is that narrow. Apple is distrubting their desktop OS *sold* to customers from their on-line store. Windows is still distruting their desktop OS *sold* to customers via DVD. It is clear that physical media is going to disappear as a medium to sell software. Notice how I used *sold* just like Apple desktop software is being *sold* through the Mac App store.

So we can't say unfavorable things about Apple on an Apple message board? This might be a shock, but some people are dissatisfied Apple customers! *GASP* I KNOW!

So people can't say there excited about an Apple product on this message board wthout being attacked? This might be a shock to you but there are very satisified Apple customers!

If you are not happy with Apple then send your feedback to Apple. Call applecare and complain. I have done that and Apple responded by trying to make me a happy customer. Believe it or not Apple does want happy customers. Word of mouth can make or break a company.

If all you do is complain on websites and do nothing else then that is your fault for not letting Apple know.

If you are so unhappy with Apple then maybe Apple products aren't working for you and maybe you should think seriously about buying something else. That is what I would do and have done with other companies. I don't go to websites and attack people the way MH01 did.

So downloads do not count for Windows?

I guess I am not being clear enough. What I am referring to is when someone wants to *buy* MS Windows or Apple Mac OSX Lion how do get on their computer. With Windows you have to order/buy a physical DVD and install from a DVD. With Lion now Apple will only *sell* Lion from the App store. I am not sure what is not clear about what I am saying. Okay, there is the thumb drive. Point I was making is Apple has now converted the medium by which it sales its OS from physical media to digital download.

I'ma let you finish but I bought Windows 7 and was able to download it from the Microsoft website, just like Lion was from the App Store.

True, but the company that follows what I've stated has 95% market share.

The company that does what you suggest struggles at 5% market share.

Do you understand the correlation?

I'm curious, what Mac of yours did you put Lion on? How's it running for you?

I've been doing that since Windows XP. Got the cd-key, iso, everything without leaving my desk. Here's the kicker: IT WAS LEGAL! I KNOW!

If you don't count buying, then linux has got both of them beat in my personal history.

Again, way too narrow a statement you gave.

Apple, again, just took something that has been extensively used by other venues and fanboys are eating it up. Only difference is that they are killing off choice for the customers and the fanboys love it.

Really?! When people have differing opinions, fanboys take things personally and feel attacked? Who knew?

Seriously, (what is considered as) attacks go either way from both sides. Being satisfied doesn't mean you're protected from criticisms, and being dissatisfied doesn't limit your venting venues.

That wasn't the point. The person was excited, that's all, anlong came this buzz buster. And then you.

Reality is the buzz buster; don't blame the messenger.

Also, you're saying we're allowed to say bad things about apple here? Please let Taz Mangus asap.

I played around with Lion at the Apple store and also on a friends MBP and I thought it was pretty good. Even the "reverse scrolling" made sense after using it for a while, although my brain is used to turning the scroll wheel on a mouse toward me to scroll down the page. It just takes a short time to overcome the mental block.

Okay, I now retract my statement about Apple and distribution of OS's. Was not a very good argument in the first place. I guess the excitement of the moment got the best of me. See even fanboys can admit when they are wrong. :D

There are plenty of people that express their dissatisfaction towards Apple. That was not the problem. What MH01 did was attacked someone else and there was no reason to do so to the recipient. This was beyond vent.

If you *hate* Apple (and some of people express themselves as such) then go somewhere else where other people that hate Apple can all vent their anger toward one another.

I don't go to Windows-centric or Andriod-centric websites just so that I can *vent* my dissatisfaction (and believe me I have a lot for those two) and make sure other people know that they are wrong for enjoy those products.

Gee, I think I am going to go find some kid that is enjoying his ice cream cone and yell at him just because he is enjoying it and I don't like the fact that he is or the fact that I hate ice cream. No one better enjoy their ice cream because I hate ice cream.

Some people have no etiquette when it comes to interacting on the internet. It is as if they feel there is no need because they can hide behind an anonymous ID.

"Being satisfied doesn't mean you're protected from criticisms". I think that says more about you (and I don't mean that in a positive way) then anything else that you have written.

You have choice, you have always had choice and you always will have a choice. The market place is full of products available to you that isn't Apple branded. Go forth and buy.

A lot of people don't feel, myself included, that we are giving up any sort of choice based on what Apple is doing.

I like what Apple is doing and always have. It has nothing to do with being a Apple fanboy. By the way, you say fanboy like it is a bad thing. I like Apple, I buy Apple then I guess then makes me a Apple fanboy. Nothing wrong with it. I used to buy MS products until I got disgusted with how they do things.

*I* always vote with my money and *I* decided what is the right thing to buy.

How do I get my boxed product fast along with the educational discount?

Attack? AFAIK, he just disagreed with how Apple was revolutionary. In fact you even agree that it is not revolutionary. There was no personal attack at all.

Do apply your own limitations to others. You choose not to exercise your freedom and that is your choice.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying. However, I will correct him if he thinks that his soylent green ice cream is not human, and yells out loud about it.

Oh, now we're approaching personal attack territory eh? Where's the etiquette? If you want to say something, say it. Don't think that being crafty with your words masks your true intent and character. In fact, "I think that says more about you (and I don't mean in a positive way) than anything else you have written."

Come on, you forgot!!!! REVOULUTIONARY, MAGICAL, AMAZING, INDUSTRY CHANGING.....

Serisouly what are you on????

It was an attack and still is an attack. Bending it to suite your needs does not change it.

I exercise my freedom all the time. I just don't do it in a distruptive or destructive fashion.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying. However, I will correct him if he thinks that his soylent green ice cream is not human, and yells out loud about it.

Wow, you are so controlling that you need to correct the person who says the sky is green when you think it is blue even though in the scheme of things it means nothing. The mere fact that you needed to correct a spelling mistake I made reinforces that conclusion about you.

I have looked up the posts you have made on this website, you come across as a very angry person. Good luck with that.

It was colorful rhetoric. Stop being it to suit your needs. Stop being oversensitive. The primary parties don't even care so just drop it.

I exercise my freedom all the time. I just don't do it in a distruptive or destructive fashion.

The point is not about you. The point is to not be so pretentious to force your standards on others.

I choose not to let ignorance breed, and shoot down obnoxious ignorants. As for the corrections, I'm correcting it for your sake so you don't still look uneducated in the future. Don't be oversensitive. Just to be clear, it's not a personal attack. Then again, thinking that it is a personal attack explains a lot about you as well.

I have looked up the posts you have made on this website, you come across as a very angry person. Good luck with that.

If only I cared about what you think of me.

Seriously, at the end of the day, the main point has been settled, and you've conceded. Stop being all whinny cause some posters used harsh language.

Then again, about Apple killing choice: How do I get my boxed product fast along with the educational discount?
