I went for the 32GB and have no regrets. I'll very seldom ever play games and the streaming video service apps (HBO, Netflix, ESPN, etc) take up very little space at all. I honestly think that for the vast majority of people that 32GB will be just fine.

I bought the 64GB on day one and found myself using it more and more, so I bought a 32GB for the kitchen yesterday. Its mostly for streaming, Netflix, Plex and Airplaying iPlayer etc. I can't see I'll ever need 64GB of storage though.

I bought a 64GB version for our living room so it would buffer more movies. However, I'm not sure it actually buffers any more than the 32GB version.

Bought 32. Still don't understand what the benefit of 64 is besides giving apple more money.
This.
Have a dozen games.
Provenance emulator with a bunch of roms. And a 16gb ATV would have been more than enough.

Only $50 difference, no regrets even though I doubt I'll use even half the storage

so i initially bought a 64gb at launch and still miss it some. i exchanged it for a 32gb a week later. for my use case it seems to be pretty much the same, but we'll see once more and more apps become available

How do you "miss" 64gb? Are you out of space on the 32gb? It doesn't sound like it. If not, what exactly can you possibly miss?

This place sometimes...

I miss the ability to confidently set the arial screen savers to "daily". they're like 600mb each. I know atv manages space for me but if I had 64gb would it store more of those arial screen savers? I would like the variety. with 64gb I wouldn't have to wonder that at all.

plus is the buffer bigger for 64gb? That would make the scrubbing video experience better.

and probably dozens of other tiny differences

This choice won't become clear for people until way into the life of the product when they've filled it up with apps and games they use on a daily basis.

For now? 32 ought to suffice for 99% of people out there. That still doesn't make me regret purchasing a 64GB however.

I went with 32 but expect to upgrade to 64 and eventually possibly larger down the road. If ATV catches on and evolves it wouldn't surprise me new apps and services will roll out requiring the need for larger storage. For now 32 meets my needs.

I think it downloads the 600 MB image every day and doesn't store more than 1. At least that's my impression based on 4 ATV's (1 64, 3 32's) and monitoring my data transfer for the month. Data transfer has gone up drastically.

I usually go for high storage options with my devices but I did actually go for the 32GB option as my use for the ATV is almost purely for streaming from internet services and from a Plex server so I could not foresee me needing large amounts of storage.
So far no regrets, but as the ATV4 evolves and more apps become available who knows!

I have both. Originally got a 32 GB dev unit and then just bought a 64GB. I haven't really seen a need for the larger one. I only it since it was only $150 at target on black Friday and it was the last unit my store had. So not much choice ;) I would have been fine with another 32 GB unit.

Bought the 64gb. Set it up and got a controller. Played around with it for 45 mins. Never came back to it. I bought it from Best buy after Nov 1 so I have until Jan 15 to return it. It is probably going back. I will use the old model. It is not exciting.

Gaming on it stinks. So space will never be a problem. I use it for streaming apps, and even those will never come close to using up 32gig. 64 is just a waste.

I have the 64 gb, which I got from target on BF. I personally would of been just fine with the 32, even though I plan on keeping the 64gb.

Maybe if, one day, you can somehow store media, or there are some killer games (which would require an overpriced third party controller). That being said, I owe all 3 major current gen gaming systems....so I doubt I'll invest in that anytime soon.

There's £40 in it, and you can't upgrade later. Just get the bigger one and have done with it. £40 isn't even a night out these days.

I have the 64GB Version and I currently have 46.20gb Free. Which means 14gb Free had I had gotten the 32gb Version. I don't have that many apps. I know it will delete temporary files if low on storage and re-download. I prefer to have the extra storage to avoid that. A earlier post here I had 50gb remaining so slowly dropping.

I got the 64gb version because I play emulators on Provenence. I'm storing complete rom collections for NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Gameboy, etc. locally on the Apple TV's storage. I anticipate that we will see more advanced MAME support at some point, and it's rom collection is 30gb+, so 64gb is more for future proofing.

I only use my aTV for Plex and Music.
I have some games installed but never played them and I don't intend to.
