Can people stop referring to this as a budget phone? A $700 or $800 phone is not cheap.
Word. I’ve been actively trying to remember to use it, but also often often forget because it’s too invisible of a feature.Maybe the omission wasn’t intentional; Apple could’ve just forgotten 3D Touch existed. I do that.
...
Kuo said the 6.1-inch iPhone will be priced from between $700 and $800 in the United States, so tradeoffs were inevitable, including the lack of an OLED, stainless steel frame, 3D Touch, and dual-lens rear camera system. The 6.1-inch iPhone could also be slightly thicker at 8.3mm, versus the iPhone X at 7.7mm.
I’m still not a fan of Face ID as I feel Touch ID is faster and more reliable in all situations.
It will. Every iPhone for 3 years (except SE) has 3D touch. It seems very trival for them to not include it. Especially if its going to be 600-700. The technology is mature now, its cheap. No reason to not include it especially since this looks like the SAME TIRED form factor of an iPhone 6 with edge to edge screen. Personally I'd rather they a do the SE chassis since the iPhone 4/5 was the most beloved design.Except for the lack of 3DT. If the model had 3DT it would be an instant sale in my mind.
I wish Apple would just make the same exact phone in 2 or 3 physical sizes and be done with it. What a sloppy product line they have now.
The only reason for this phone to exist is to hit a price point in the lineup.
Also can some of you join me in praying for an SE sized device that is all screen? That’s the phone I actually want and I have no idea if those rumors are true.
Seems that ship had sailed. The product line is sloppy because marketing is obsessed with hitting all these different price points and the way they’ve chosen to do it is by keeping around older models.I wish Apple would just make the same exact phone in 2 or 3 physical sizes and be done with it. What a sloppy product line they have now.
Honestly, the worst thing about iPhone X is its price.
I have no problems with face id or more camera lenses, just that I don't want to shell out more money for an already expensive phone.
Also, I might mention the jump in cost for Apple Care for iPhone 10.

^^^^this sounds logical to you but Apple precious margins could take a hit - with a dual setup and $200-400 less - this would make it "the" most reasonable model for most people. At $700 it is basically a full-screen display replacement for the iPhone 8 which has a single camera module.
At $800 it would be a replacement for the 8 Plus which has a dual-camera setup.
I don't mind compromises to hit a particular price point, but come on. If it is priced at $800 then at least give us the dual camera setup already featured on the current $800 model.
^^^^^before I had the dual lens and I never felt the need for it but with i8+ I used constantly when watching my kids in their school plays- I've been able to get usable video and photos from a distanceImpossible for me to consider a single Lena phone after using the 7 Plus for over a year. Either I will buy the flagship or wait until my 7 Plus can no longer run iOS to its full potential.
I actually don’t like the aspect ratio nor the lack of a home button since I always force quit apps when I put the phone down and it’s a lot more inconvenient to do this on the X. Regardless I’ll have no choice but to embrace it if I want to have the latest and greatest.
Long press like on every iDevice with no 3D touch. Works fine on my iPad Air 2.Unless I'm mistaken, the only way to see the details/make edits for a HomePod in the Home app is via 3D touch. How's that going to work on this phone?
