My Apple representative is calling me at 1PM Uk time on Friday...Trying to make my mind up on color......I have always bought black, but this time around, I'm thinking Champagne...either way, it will be a 32GB model. My 5S is up for sale and should go quickly....Might mean I am minus a phone for a week or so, but I can live with that. My Fiancee's 5C will be delivered next week too.

It is also nice to know that someone cannot accept the fact there are a lot of us are on a flexible work schedule and then decided to imply their own situation to the rest of us as a stereotype.

I have sympathy for the fact that those people who cannot simply manage their time wisely or have to work on a fixed schedule from 9 to 5 in an office.

What kind of job do you have that allows you to take a week off to go stand in a line?

jobs where you have vacation time and you can request it on short notice.

A lot of people have jobs like that, but they don't spend their vacation standing in line for hours, just to buy a piece of plastic and glass. Especially one that millions of other people will soon also own.

Although I suppose in places like NYC, such an activity could be considered a relatively cheap and easy vacation. Not to mention being a rare time that its citizens will actually interact with strangers. :)

I dunno. Reminds me a bit of the original S2 commercial... "Dude, you're a barrista."

who cares what people spend their vacation time doing? Not everyone that requests a PTO is going out of town to the beach. ;)

Before you all hit the buy button make sure you sent an email with a copy of your passport plus phone number to the NSA. Otherwise they will have a little bit more work to do which is coming from your taxes. ;)

Yeah right Steeeeeevvvvvvve. Steve Carlsberg is such a spoilsport.

replying to myself: looks like they should have them. I didn't think Apple's site would have the individual models and configurations all available to click on, since you can't add anything to a cart yet. But they do!

Nothing like paying $849 for a phone!

Über expensive?

Sim free IPhone 5s in UK Apple store £549.00
Sim free Galaxy S4 in Argos £549.95 reduced from £599.95.

Why pay £550 for a plastic 32bit phone when you can get a beautifully built 64bit phone for 95 pence less?

 I just confirmed with Apple that pre-orders of the iPhone 5S next Fri the 20th will NOT have the option to pick up in your local store. They will, instead, have to be shipped. The only way to get it on Sept 20th would be to wait in line....very lame.

Will this mean that more people will wait in line instead of ordering online?

I guess Apple don't want to miss the photo op of long lines.

Preorder at Target?

I tried going to Target's website and saw the various models listed, but didn't see how to place a pre-order. Can you elaborate on how you did this?

Thanks!

Same here, I looked at Target's website and found NO preorder store pick up option; actually I didn't even see ANY of the 64Gig modles being sold there at all. :(

How do you know which stores are scheduled for a launch day release?

From my understanding, each store will be getting a certain number of iPhones, and these pre-orders would be contributing to what kind of iPhones they'll be getting. If say a store will receive only 10 iPhones on launch day, and 10 people already pre-ordered at that store prior to launch day, then all the pre-orders will be fulfilled and no walk-ins will be accepted. Which is why the Target Mobile specialist specifically said to call her as soon as you receive the email notifying that the shipment has arrived cause on launch day if you don't have an appointment, then your device will be released for grabs.

----------

I'm not seeing that option on Target.com

In store only :D Get off the couch.

----------

Did you receive any emails from Target? I haven't heard from them via email yet. I did however get that same form from the store.

No not yet. The email will come when the shipment arrives.

----------

Not online...Did you do that in store?

EDIT: Nevermind....It's not a preorder...All you did was reserve a phone.

http://www.gottabemobile.com/2013/09/13/iphone-5s-pre-orders-target-starts-taking-reservations/

That is no better than where you are now, in fact it could be worse. If they only get 12 iPhones total, 3 of which are the Model you chose, and you were the 10th person to reserve one, you now have 7 people ahead of you while you wait for a phone I am assuming you have already paid for.

So realistically you could be no closer to having one at launch day than anyone else...

From what the specialist has told me it's slightly different than what you said... Each phone yes has a certain number of phones they'll be getting, but the preorder contributes to that number. If they have 12 iPhones allocated for that store, and you were the 10th person **in total** to reserve one, then you'll be getting a phone on launch day (+ 2 more behind you).

In line. 4AM.

heh.

Wake me up for the iPhone6. This one is a snoozer.

:(

It's just funny is all. It is kind of depressing actually.

Instead of spending vacation seeing something new, or spending time with people you care about, you sit next to a bunch of unshowered wierdos on the street waiting for a gadget that is nearly identical to the currently released gadget.
:confused::(:apple:

Not true.

One: You don't pay upfront.

Two: Don't sign up if you are 10th on the list. There are target stores everywhere (sometimes only blocks away), so just go to one that doesn't have a long list.

Three: You actually don't use your upgrade, so if for some reason you can't get on a short list, you can still buy a phone at any of the Apple retailers.

If you order, An unlocked iphone on the 20th from apple.com is it returnable to the store within the 30 days or do you have to deal with shipping it back?

It's only for full price phones though correct?

Just to throw my hat in the Target pre-order experience. I just got off the phone with my local Target in Poway/San Diego.

1.The rep told me that as long as I got my name on the reservation list, I would have one ready for me on the 20th.

2. That they will get in as many as people reserved. On the 20th.

3. He took my name, phone #, email address, and the model I wanted. And that I would receive an email with instructions on when the phone was in and when to pick it up. On the 20th.

4. All this was done over the phone. My phone will be eligible for a $200 upgrade, which the rep noted.

5. No payment necessary.

What people do with there time is there business. I sold my unlocked 16gb 5 to pay off my Uk vodafone contract because they are awful for my needs.

Signing up on the 20th for a new plan with three, who are all about the data - anyone with sense should realise mins and texts dont mean much nowadays.

Its good that its only in store on 20th - line up if you want too, dont if you dont!!!

To confirm no collection, no preorders, either get in line or order through Apple / carrier for delivery Monday!!

Nope - online returns online - instore in store 14days in uk - opened or not

Nope.
you're completely wrong

We'll be ordering 8 hours before you...

Every region must have its own plans...

Interesting.

I have read the thread in your link about people receiving the email in the UK stating that ordering begins online at 12:01 am UK time.

But I think its a misprint too be honest.

Reason I say this. If we could order here in the UK at 12:01 am UK time, this would mean that at this exact time in a pacific time zone, it would be 8 hours earlier. This would make it 4:01 pm Thursday 19 September. At the announcement it did say 20 September.

For at least the last few years its been 12:01 am pacific time, 8:01 am UK time. I can't see why they would change this too be honest. I hope I'm proved wrong though :)

Any one notice how the steady stream of leaks stop right after an Apple announcement.

Wait, stop the press. So you're telling me that the stream of leaks for a new product stop after the product is announced?! After Apple comes right out and tells us about the product, they stop leaking it??

Mind = BLOWN.
