Target is currently accepting pre-orders for all iPhone 5S models. Inventory will be processed in the order in which it was received and pre-ordered phones will be dispatched depending upon demand to individual stores scheduled for launch day release. You will receive an email prior to launch day notifying you that the phone has arrived and is under embargo until launch day. You must schedule an appointment with the Target Mobile specialist prior to launch day in order to pick-up and activate your device.

Here's my pre-order receipt as a reference.

Enjoy!

The big question is when you order at 12:01 am is that for shipment or pickup at the store?

Shipment. They don't do pickup in stores on launch days, typically not even for the first 3-5 days.
Too much of a headache for staff to deal with constant unboxing stuff for the line and the orders coming in (which have to be pulled, confirmed in the system, csrefully labeled and set up and then taken out when you arrive etc)

----------

Why not just order at 12:01? Then get it a few days later.

Might be better to get batch 2 anyway.

Well, Samsung will need some material for their commercials. This should do.

Nothing says don't buy a product like pointing out how many people are willing to wait in line for one right?

Samsung will spin it as no need to wait. Show up at 8am to buy.

Of course the volume of sales will never be mentioned...

I could see apple adding a 128gb option in like a month with no media event, like they did with the iPad, they'll just be like "Oh hey, heres a 128 gb option."

From what I understand the 128 GB uses two 64 GB chips. So not enough room in an iphone for that unless they want to reduce the battery. which they won't.

A few years ago when I bought the iPhone 3G I had an issue at the Apple Store where they couldn't activate the phone because I have a corporate discount on my AT&T account. After spending half the day in line I was told I needed to have the discount removed before buying the phone at the Apple Store. The only way to get the phone with the discount was to buy it directly from AT&T. Does anyone know if that's still the case?

You need to call ATT and verify whether your account is a business account or a personal account. If it is a business no, I don't believe Apple can do those. If it is a personal with a business connected discount you are fine. I'm on a family plan with my boyfriend who gets a percent off discount on the plan cause of work but it is still a personal account and I upgraded to my 4s and he got his 5 with no issues

I believe the trouble before was that ATTs system used to class personal accounts with business tie in discounts as business accounts for some dumb reason.

I'm in the same boat: 4S and wasn't tempted enough with the 5 or 5S. However, I'll be all over the 6!

I have a factory unlocked 4S. I'll be using T-Mobile's JUMP program to get the 6 next year, but am not passing up this 5S. I'm hoping there are no big lines at T-Mobile. They've already confirmed they will have all 5S models in stock.

How difficult is it to cancel an online order with Apple?

If I order online at 12:01, but manage to track one down later in the day, will I be able to get it activated and just cancel the online order?

Are you using an upgrade? Because ordering online would effectively use your upgrade, and if you went into the store itself then it would show that you have no upgrade available. And getting your upgrade back isn't as easy as you are thinking.

People stand in line all the time.

People who complain about others standing in line are just so silly.

Why shouldn't people stand in line? People do this all the time for the things they love. They stand in line for movies, theater shows, concerts, sporting events, video games, comic book conventions, and book releases. They stand in line to get into restaurants, bars, and clubs. They even stand in line to buy clothes (Black Friday). People stand in line for anything and everything, at any time of the day or night. So why not some tech - a new phone?

If you don't get it, you've not been paying attention to life in general, or are just a plain old hater.

Yeah, I'd be using an upgrade. I guess I'll just order and wait.
Thank you!

LTE is enough to justify it over your 4S. (Well, assuming you have a good carrier).

Bah, LTE is cool but not really game changing for me. The thing that makes biggest difference for me is the larger screen. The lightning port is rather nice too.

Maybe it's time for you to grow up?

Aaron, give it rest. The flack that you are receiving from these guys is deserved. In your original post you opined and suggested that anyone standing in line on a week day was a bum and living off of their parents. Whether you meant it in jest (a poor attempt at humor) or are ignorant to the fact that the entire world doesn't work 9-5 Mon through Fri, the remark came across as classless. The fact that you continue to attack these guys who are calling you out on it is making you look worse....

Admit that you made a mistake, a poor choice of words, and move on. No harm no foul. There are people wishing to discuss the topic at hand...

The fact the carriers and other big stores aren't taking preorders will push people to apple stores by default. No pre order means short supply possability to most. If that's the case, stock will be limited at the other stores. I'm surprised places like best buy aren't going to take pre orders.

Which store?

Which store does everyone think would be the best option to park myself at next week? Will the Apple Store have the most stock or will the AT&T store, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, etc. be OK?

Anyone else find this strange? And perhaps partly an attempt to make sure that lines are out of control on launch day? Here in New York, I can wake up a 3:00 a.m. and order online for delivery probably on Tuesday or Wednesday. Or I can get up at 4:00 a.m., get on line at a store by 5:30 a.m., and probably be walking out of Apple store by 10:00 a.m. Which still allows me to get to work at a decent enough time.

I wonder if there are going to be serious supply constraints for the 5S.

But I also like this a push for the 5C. I won't buy that phone, but I bet the margins on it are going to be sick. Apple has probably driven the component costs way down on all its parts over the last year and then with the cheap shell, it might have margins that are better than the $100 more expensive 5S.

Does anyone know if any stores, especially Apple, will have display models of the 5s before the 20th?

With the new 5s colors, I'd like to see them in person first before being rushed in a long line at launch.

Gold is intriguing, and black is a bit boring these days, so I may choose gold or white. But then space gray could be a nice subtle change from all black. There's just no way to decide until you see them in person.

I had that same thought. BUT...if they did that, it'd probably cost $499 now. I was hoping for the usual "doubling of capacity across the board" thing they do between models, where the high-end model remains the same price, but with increased capacity across the board.
