After all the comments and everything made by Apple, I still don't see why they would go for anything bigger than 5". A combination of the current 4" and a bigger 4.7" would be ideal. Should make both camps happy.

1280x720 would have the same aspect ratio as the current 4" iPhones, and would deliver a nearly-identical PPI at 4.7."

1280x720 at 5.5" would have a nearly identical PPI to the full-size iPad.

I think it's obvious that if Apple makes a larger iPhone it's probably going to be 4.7". I just hope they also keep around a 4" model for those who want to keep the smaller device.

Well....we know that there will be a bigger phone.

Lets just wait an see the size/s.

I for one am looking forward to having multiple form factors.

Yes and it's 4.7. Don't we already know it.
5.5 is a bait for samsung to launch their S6 in the larger size and fail.

Meanwhile, Analysts be like -

Since when has Samsung needed bait from Apple to fail? ;)

Samsung already released a 5.5 inch smartphone back in 2012, The Galaxy Note 2, it was a success.

Absolutely ridiculous! It's like holding an iPad mini up to your head lol

Yea so big! I need a briefcase to carry my phone around with me. Good thing every pocket in existence ever made is the exact dimensions of an iPhone 5. That's clearly the Galaxy Mega, which carries a screensize of 6.3 inches, not mentioned in the article, and not even listed as a possible larger iPhone size.

I did some calculations and at 4.5" 720p would have exact same PPI as current iPhone, so my money is on 4.5" screen.

I'm betting on the 4.7, with ads still showing one handed use as they did before...then, they will release the 5.5, called the iPhone Air, somewhere between the 5 and a mini (ok, I'm kidding about the 5.5)...

I don't want a 5.5 phone...

Yes, I'd like to see a discussion on resolutions and PPIs.

You said it would deliver nearly-identical PPI with 1280x720 @ 4.7" - that would be 312 vs current 326. This drop isn't a lot although it would mildly surprise me that Apple would drop it even slightly. However I agree, I think that is more likely than choosing an uncommon resolution just to keep it at 326+. 300+ is probably ok for their Retina marketing. And I think it is very unlikely they would go for 1920x1080 at 4.7" - 469 PPI is way more than necessary, and would severely strain the battery without any visual gain. This isn't unprecedented in other phones, but given the way Apple don't tend to go with specs just for the sake of it, I find it hard to see them doing this.

(As an aside, 1280x720 @ 4.5" would match the current PPI very nicely...)
^ ghost187 beat me to that :)

is most likely to come in August or September, rather than June

He lost all credibility with me after that sentence. Apple clearly changed iPhone releases to Sept/oct a few years ago. If he can't see that, how can he see what new iPhone is coming out.

4.7 inch iPhone; and then light-up cellular voice service on the cellular iPads.
Throw in some new, revolutionary wireless earbuds / mic.

Problem solved.

They are gonna make devs angry by changing screen size so often...

As long as they don't keep changing the aspect ratio, I suppose it wouldn't matter too much.. they could just scale existing images, which would could be as easy as a single click. . . or not at all, if they don't increase the resolution.

Wireless earbuds are really a terrible idea. Who the hell could keep track of them?

Read the whole article, the source says it's the same resolution which means they won't have to change a thing.

but it'll be a change from the current iPhone resolution, which only changed 2 years ago - think that's what he referred to :)

I agree with teknikal90 that it shouldn't be too much of an issue though

I dont get the two model rumors. It seems clear to me, that they would go for one size - the one they think is "right". I am actually unsure whether or not the old 4" form factor will still be developed

Stopped reading at "rather than June". Apple has not released a iPhone in June since the iPhone 4. The 4S, 5 and 5S were released in September/October.
