Both valid points. I guess I'll cross that bridge if (when??) I get there. FWIW, this has been the most stressful pre-order process in my 7 year history with Apple. I've been pre-ordering every iPhone since 3GS on launch day and never had an experience quite like this.

Agreed. I've been ordering iPhones since the first gen as well and this is by far the most stressful. I thought the initial apple watch pre-order was one of the smoothest (nothing like the iPhone 6 debacle) but this waiting to see if my orders are going to get cancelled is ridiculous. Also, the 2 week wait window is more stressful than the 1 week wait window on iPhones.

Didn't want to take the risk, so I cancelled my order so that I can receive my SG and my wife's Silver sport. Stainless is nice, but since I don't normally wear a watch, spending more would of been tough. That and the fact I don't really care of the "chrome" finish. But it's still a nice watch.

It's like a lot more can go wrong in a 2 week window than 1!

Yet it's kind of draining away the satisfaction and fun we felt upon seeing that staying up until 3 a.m. for me and waking up at 3 a.m. for my husband bore fruit with decent delivery dates for our watches. Ah well, that's the way it goes sometimes.

What gets to me is that it's a weird situation. There aren't that many people complaining about it. It's not in the press so far as I've seen. Apple isn't talking about this being part of their efforts to curb scalping and ensure supply or mentioning it for any other reasons. So I'm not sure how to categorize this experience. Lol, I'm trying not to worry about worrying about my purchase. Goofy!

I see there's another thread in which a macrumors member sent an email to Tim Cook and received a reply back from the Apple executive team. Maybe there a better wordsmith than me that would like to send an email regarding the cancellation concerns/issue??

We aren't sure it's really an "issue" yet. Even though people who called in to preemptively cancel were told that their excess orders were flagged for cancellation, there's no way to verify that the Apple employee wasn't just telling them that to encourage the cancellation along. Every extra order they cull is another watch they can use to alleviate their apparent supply problem. If someone calls up volunteering to self cull, I doubt they will say or do anything to give the impression that the order would have been fine as it was. Probably all orders of more than two per the same address are flagged in some way. But maybe only a tiny percentage of them will end up acted upon.

And so far it's very few people out of untold numbers of people who likely made multiple orders who are reporting in. As the week progresses let's see if the cancellation reports accumulate either in this thread or elsewhere.

This thing needs legs to stand. This happening to just a handful of people can easily be dismissed. Some will be dismissed as disgruntled scalpers trying to look sympathetic. Others may be assumed to have caused a red flag to go up for some other reason. Others might be accused of hoaxing or jumping on a negative bandwagon. Others will be believed but their plight easily dismissed by people who are inclined to make excuses for Apple.

This is a forum full of shrewd people with long experience debunking rumors and hoaxes and hysteria. They've been fairly tolerant of this thread so far, so let's keep it measured and smart here.

And since it is impossible for any one of us to verify the identities and stories of anyone else, it may be wise for each customer who was burned in this mess to write their own letter to Tim Cook. You don't need to be a wordsmith. Just copy and paste your posts from this thread to tell your story and convey your frustration.

we bought 5 watches in separate orders, two in one apple id, two in another, and one in another, different credit cards per apple id, but all to the same shipping address, should i worry??

Don't call them or you will bring it to their attention. That's what happened to me.

You might be ok, best thing to do is wait it out and hope for the best.

you all need to chill. they are not going to cancel your orders. i literally ordered 6 watches on the same apple ID, same credit card, same address, same everything. calm the f down. even if they cancel, jsut call apple back and they will make it right by giving you a gift card or soemthing. their policy was not clear so it is in their best interest to make things right

Sorry to say, but Apple may cancel your order at anytime. A lot of us want our watches and don't care about a gift card. I need my watches for family members and am not interested in getting a gift card and then having to reorder them for delivery sometime in July.

has anyone in this thread actually provided proof (email etc.) from apple saying their order was cancelled?

Yes, I have received 2 of these emails on 2 separate orders. And from what the Apple rep told me...i should expect a few more.

Already did, i suggest you do the same, i think a big part of what they choose to respond to is directly related to how many people complain about it.

You are speaking without any actual knowledge. They absolutely cancelled my watch order and I only had 2 watches ordered. Congrats on your "6" watches on one ID, don't be shocked if something changes on your order as well.

@charlituna you need to get off your high horse and chill with the name calling. I don't know about you, but I can have a conversation with somebody and show my disappointment without making threats and being a jerk.

Are you sure you don't work for Business Insider the way you twist my words?

If i'm not mistaken he pulls this same song and dance with each Apple pre-order.

Just curious what category you believe my situation falls into then? I find it laughable that you feel Apple has this group of employees randomly deciding if loyal customers are secretly scalpers looking to make a buck. I didn't nothing except follow the rules and had my order cancelled because someone couldn't differentiate between an accessories order and a watch order. I can only assume there will be many others who have their orders cancelled who ACTUALLY ordered more than 2 watches.

Cool story bro

Just curious if there have been any order cancellations in the last couple days?

I spoke to a nice lady at Apple and I was going to cancel one of my three watches. She said that there is a 2 watch max. But I did mine over two different orders and two different payment types, so I might be okay. She did say that there was no way I would have an order cancelled now. She said that any cancellation would happen within the first 24 hours after the order.

Take with a grain of salt.

Just thought I'd share.

Please do not be angry with me. I'm not saying I think or I will decide who falls into what category. I'm saying there will be these types of excuses some may come up with to justify what Apple is doing and dismiss any efforts to act as a group at this time. Based on the kinds of confrontations and accusations I've seen before I think these are the groups some naysayers will try to lump us in. (Edited to clarify that point)

If you read my post history in this thread you will see I am on your side and in the same boat as you. You misunderstand the intention of my post. Which is not your fault. I'm not a terribly effective writer.

In answer to a post before mine, I was discouraging a generalized group effort or group effort type of letter to Tim Cook because uniting people under a movement of sorts would attract just the type of "prove it" and "oh stop whining" and "stop being paranoid" posts to this thread like we just saw happened after my post that you're taking issue with. Luckily it was just one such person drifting in here to take issue with us.

I didn't want more coming in and turning this into a hostile and defensive thread and have people who aren't forum regulars and used to the way this forum can sometimes get become reticent to report their cancellations here. I've only been here since IPhone 6Plus Launch and I'm still not used to how much confrontation and personal attacking there is. I'm a lady into very mild hobbies with other ladies near my age or older and we just don't have this sort of battling on the kinds of forums I'm used to. It's taken a lot of working up my nerve to post and joke around on this forum as much as I do. New people who just ordered, got canceled and wandered here looking for help or answers might be afraid to post if they see how it can get here.

To justify the kind of group undertaking that someone suggested would require more than a handful of the people who posted to provide the proper support and evidence this is "an issue" in an environment that generally isn't too supportive of statements or movements seen critical of Apple. I was warning of the type of responses we could garner from the community at large if we tried at this point in time to unite and present this as a widespread issue to bring to Apple's attention. And sure enough EdisEdward came in and made the types of comments that validated my concerns. And did you see the attacks the letter to Tim Cook initially did get?

So I encouraged us as individual consumers to directly report our own situation and our own complaints to Apple separately. I can't prove to Apple that such and such happened to another person. But the person who experienced the cancellation can provide the necessary account info and documentation to prove the validity of their claims to Apple.

I'm sorry for the TL/DR length of this post but I feel terrible that I offended you. I apologize and hope now you understand what my other post really intended.

EdisEdward There are many other posts in this forum you will find more worthy of your time. I don't think you're going to find anything here to interest you until/unless a cancellation happens to you.

Nothing new here. All I have were 2 cancelation emails at the exact same time on Saturday. I still have 3 separate orders processing.

Just an update on my situation. I had two watches pre-ordered and one was cancelled. Spoke to Apple on Friday, Saturday and also sent an email yesterday. I've checked my orders on the Apple app today and the cancelled order has been reinstated with the same delivery date as previously.

That's great, Attifarooq! Yours was cancelled in error so they definitely should have reinstated you to your original position in the shipping queue.

My husband has not yet had a chance to have another conversation with his Apple contact. I'll let you all know what, if anything, is said about this subject. I'm not sure his contact would know, since he had already told us our orders should be fine when my husband brought up his concerns the first time. We've been waiting to see if many more cancellation stories would be coming in. But so far it's been a trickle, which is puzzling if Apple were still undertaking a significant effort to impose the 2-per limit on first-day preorders anyway. Perhaps they've received enough self-cancelations by now to make them drop the effort? Or they are focusing on policing newer orders--it does seem more certain they are doing that especially now that limits have been communicated. Anyone's guess is as good as mine.

Thank you to everyone else who has reported their situation in this thread. Good luck to all.

UPDATE: I have looked at my Amex account and no longer have any pending charges. All the Apple Store transactions are gone from my account. This could mean my orders have been cancelled (still showing up as active in my Apple Store account) OR that my card will be charged the amounts any minute now.
Can anybody else check their accounts?
