“We remain focused on building innovative technology”

A reminder that openai didn’t invent transformers. They just implemented a paper published by google. it’s Google’s R&D

Well a response like: “we will collaborate with justice to get this situation cleared” would be more honest for both parties even

I mean, I believe ‘em, if you ignore their recent actions, poaching Apple’s talent relentlessly and if everything Apple is alleging is somehow entirely fabricated.

This is what happens when you go in all hot-to-trot for a job interview and (after what seems like the beginnings of a fine cordial meeting) you realize that you are sitting across from the interrogation wing of the Stasi.

This is also the response the Stasi might give when confronted.

“We have no interest in other companies’ trade secrets,” said an OpenAI spokesperson. “But if we could train our models on them... well...”

For a company whose entire business is built around stealing the collective intellectual property of humanity and then charging a fee to access it, Open AI chose quite possibly the most hypocritical rebuttal imaginable.
