You can play them on iOS, if you side load, just as you can on an Apple TV. It shouldn't have to be that way of course, but Apple loves their walled gardens.
There are *some* good iOS games though. Try CAVE's amazing shmups for example, including their very latest which just came out a few weeks ago. They're incredible. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/nu-shou-ling-feng-yi-mian/id1057408697?mt=8
I came to this thread because of the same issue. Keys don't do anything.
Just downloaded the latest version of website (v2.0.1)
Tried lots of games from my library - they load just like they should, but it's like the keyboard isn't recognized.
Mac Pro 2013 w/ Apple wireless (BT) keyboard. OS X 11.1
Anyone having more luck with this?
Actually, I have just a Mac Pro - people get that confused all the time - thanks Apple! ;-)yep exact same setup as me... same 2013 macbook pro and 11.1 and apple wireless keyboard but i also tried the laptop keyboard and it doesn't work either.
Games were simple back then and at first glance one could easily see what the games were about and how to play them. Fast forward today and games are so complex with long storylines and way too many controller combos that aren't always revealed in the instructions, but rather you have to go online to watch others discover them or accidentally discover them yourself. I loved the old games and play many of them now on my iMac's emulator.Remind again why we want to play 70s and 80s video games again. Don't you remember the 70s and 80s? You're not missing anything, believe me. I've looked into it. There's a gas shortage and A Flock of Seagulls. That's about it.
It would be nice if it supported Intellivision ROMs. But I dropped some in and it wouldn't play them without the BIOS ROM. I dropped the BIOS ROM in, and it doesn't recognize it.

OpenEmu uses Stella as it's it's A2600 core, so there shouldn't be different.
Groovy, pull up the configure controls from the OpenEmu toolbar and make sure all the original Atari 2600 controls are set to a key.

I love this emulator, and I'm glad they are now available to the public (they were in experimental state for a while, and it required a bit of fiddling to get it to work). A bit annoyed by the fact that it's only for 10.11 and up, but no big deal that is (most computers that can't run El Capitan can't emulate most of those consoles well enough anyway).
But offering the old version on their website could be a good idea though.

Did you change any of the default settings?
Maybe I'll try completely uninstalling it and reinstall from scratch.
nope all defaults
True - but Apple is not going to allow this at all. They have been openly hostile about game console emulators having rejected anything that smells of something that can run older video games. The big reason seems that they don’t want to touch any sort of copyright spat given that they want to be friendly with the many devs that created games for these consoles. Lets not forget, while the emulators themselves are legal, the ROMS may or may not be (I would wager mostly not since I don’t know of any authorized way to get them from the copyright owner).
Simply put, it just won’t happen. Apple is really hostile to emulation on it’s iOS platform.
Goldeneye on N64 does run too fast and the analog control down doesn't work right (goes down so far and then starts going up again and no way to adjust).
Has anyone tried playing certain N64 games (specifically Goldeneye) and everything runs normally until the level starts and then the game play is speed up super fast, making it almost impossible to play accurately.
Stop doing drugs. The UI of Yosemite and later is the least colourful interface in OS X ever."requires a Mac running OS X 10.11 or later."
Oh dear. No support for those of us who abhor the overly-colourful, dumbed-down kiddy interface, then.
Try Provenance: https://github.com/jasarien/ProvenanceSonic the Hedgehog, it would be so cool to play at Apple TV.
Bummer, SEGA is one of the most boring companies in the world.

I kind of thought the same thing before I started using Mac's again as my primary computers, but honestly I'm really enjoying the interface now. The new default font is quite nice, in my opinion."requires a Mac running OS X 10.11 or later."

I found this out there on the net thought it maybe worth a search on this keyboard issue.
For those with controller/input issues. Try closing Google Chrome, restart OpenEmu and see what happens. (Chrome is keyboard / input hog).
Probaly just one persons resolution but hey worth a try if you use Chrome.
You could try shutting down OpenEmu then shut down every other program you have running then re open OpenEmu, from what I am reading online this problem is pretty common and it normaly turns out that another program is blocking OpenEmu from the keyboard.
