very impressed. posting from opera. zoom is not ideal but might be faster for some reading environments...

how is the desktop version?

r.

This mobile browser by Opera for the iPhone is terrible.

Edit: They still need to fix all their rendering issues on their desktop version.

I find Opera renders sites very poorly--issues with fonts and CSS among other problems.

Currently testing 10.52 on Linux and OS X and it's considerably broken in many areas. However, they are fixing bugs rapidly and I've submitted several in the past two weeks.

Ok, how do you submit a post on macrumors from operA? I type a post and click done, then it just disappears!! Anyone?

It is now on the us store - iPhone only no iPad version (though it runs fine on the iPad in compatible mode)

pretty ordinary

I can't see these speed increases... and until they sort out the zooming I won't be using it again.

Have so far only used it on my iPad with wifi... And it definitely doesn't shine in that scenario. I actually think it is slower than safari... And certainly a worse experience (for a lot if the same reasons everyone else is mentioning)

However... That isn't the environment it was designed for... So i still look forward to trying it out on my iPhone 3G in edge.

I don't like it

It DOES load pages faster than Safari on my 3GS but navigating within the webpage kinda sucks. Too jittery and zooming tends to over or under shoot. Doesn't seem to ever get it right. I'll stick with Safari.

Just downloaded it, it seems pretty nice. Gonna have to mess around with it a bit more. Exiting nonetheless!

I did a test on my solid WiFi connection of 7Mb/s+
Engadget HD
Safari
Time until I could read stuff on page 15s
Time until finished 85s

Opera Mini
Readable 28s
finished 75s

I'm going to stick with Safari but it could probably be a big help if you have a slow connection, plus you can even do low res photos to really speed up things.

Ive been playing with it for about 30 minutes. The zoom/pan feature needs a little work but on the whole I really like it. I would definitely choose it over Safari for normal browsing while using 3G networking.

It's slow as HeLLLLLL and I deleted it from my iPad. Disappointed by it's slowness. I will get Atomic Web Browser instead.
