Pretty sure they sold just as much if not more than the 6. Maybe not as much as they expected considering it was also released in China this time around but I doubt they sold less.
If there was a reason not to sell more than the 6, I would blame the not so exciting design!

I moved from a 6 plus to a 6s plus and I disagree with everything you say.

Lol so even after I stressed in not single, but double quotes that what I was about to say was only in my opinion and in no way meant as fact, you took the time to quote me just to tell me you disagree with everything I say? Ha that is cute.

Then I mention that I do find the jump from the 6 Plus to the 6S Plus TO BE a noticeable difference, the very phones you moved from, and you highlight my opinion on the 6/6S. Fantastic..

I'll just say this much; if not for the 6s, this poor snowman's arm would have fallen off with the plus ;)

I call 14,000,000 launch day weekend boatloads.

Be to to repeat, sales weren't released how can you have an "informed" opinion of why?

I can't, but then neither can you. Stop looking for something sinister in everyones comments please.

Nope nothing "sinister". Just voicing my opinion that nobody can make any type of authoritative prediction because apple hasn't released any sales figures yet. In a week or so it will be another story.

You do know, the title of this thread starts with the word Opinion right. Therefore all comments should be viewed as such. I never even implied I had facts or made any predictions since I started my post with "my guess". At any rate I would suggest you put me on ignore since you obviously have no respect for my opinions and seem to take offense at everything I say. BTW, welcome to becoming the first on my ignore list.

I'm still not sure how anybody can make any opinion on this as the way the forum thread was worded implies some type of knowledge on knowing the facts. Now if Apple had announced its sales figures and they were down I think this would be a great subject to ponder.

As far as the whole ignore thing to me it's like putting your fingers in your ears, but see ya round the campus.:D

Apple iPhone sales will begin to taper off at some point. It's just not possible to keep setting records.

The sooner Apple experiences a slowdown the better, that's what it will take to wake them up and cause them to improve their buggy releases. iOS could certainly be improved and Apple is certainly capable.

Currently they have no incentive, they're too busy profit taking.

Because the 6 is still a great phone. The 6S is not much of an upgrade, hence the "Everything has changed" ad campaign.

Hell, aside from screen size, the 5S is still a decent phone.

I have been reading numerous articles lately regarding the apparently disappointing sales of the the Iphone 6s. How come the Iphone 6s is not selling as great as previous iphones? Is it because there are not enough new features to justify the purchase of a new iphone? I understand there are new major stuff such as 12 meg pix camera, 2gb ram, and force touch but is it really a day/night difference? In my opinion, I do not think so and please here me out. As a former owner of a silver 6s Plus 128gb, my silver 6 w/ ios 8, my 6 preformed just as fast as my former 6s Plus.

Secondly, how come Apple and other carriers are pushing so many ad's for the 6s? If I remember correctly besides the "Shot on the Iphone 6" campaign, the 6 barley had any ad's; it literally sold itself; you cannot really say the same for the 6s. One major factor was with many females and models such as Kylie/Kendall Jenner I see on IG boasting their new Iphone 6 when it came out. Addiotnally if you are young college kid like me, ;) you would know many artist such as Lil Wayne made references to the new Iphone 6 at the time. While I do believe the iphone 5/5s had the best design structurally (Real one hand texting for example) there was no denying how smooth and sleek the 6 looked when it came out compared to older iphones (Especially Silver; looks amazing with a Imac/Macbook btw thank me later). If you are serious about social media and use it for a business like myself, you will understand how impactful it was and how so many people wanted to get the iphone 6 at the time; despite it was already time for the newest chassi to be released. I would even argue since the Iphone 6 was so successful, many people felt the peer pressure with IG models and friends posting mirror selfies with their iphone 6 sticking out oh-so-perfectly in the middle of the frame. (We know many of our lady friends who did this many times before ahaha)

Lastly, do you know more friends with the iphone 6s than 6? Because for me, more of my friends have a 6 than a 6s opposed to more of my friends having 6 than a 5s a couple of years ago.

If the 6s were truly that great; everyone would have a 6s by now; just something to think about... I used to say "S" stand's for "Smart" but now I believe "S" stand for "Silly". Could Apple be finally losing it's touch?(No pun intended) Or this is just the aftermath of loosing such a innovative guy such as Steve Jobs?

Here's one of the articles the motivated me making this thread:http://www.reuters.com/article/us-apple-suppliers-idUSKCN0V00V5

I am very keen to hear what you guys/ladies think. Thx in advance.

Hi! Apple devices are such a great gadgets and even me loved it. But about big phones, personally I never really liked it. One thing that you can't do with ease in a big phone, you can't type using one hand. What I've had before is 4s then I gave it then buy iphone 5 and stayed to iOS 7 which is really smooth. As long as there's no small size iphone to be release then I will no longer change my phone. No such cuter than the small ones.

From what I understand the 6S sold well in its first couple of months but seeing as sales have supposedly slowed down, I would guess it's because it's the S version. Historically it doesn't sell as well because so many people buy the original 6 and are locked into a 2 year contract. The new design always sells better than the S because people buzz for a new design rather than upgraded features I would say.

I agree with The Read Deal, the 6 was such a big change that many updated and the S model never sells as well. I always wait for the S model myself to hopefully iron out issues with the previous versions. Sadly the 6s is still a bar of soap without a case on it for grip. But things like the facetime camera moving etc have been solved, and coming from the 5s my personal favourite iPhone, its a great update.

With China as a new market it actually is possible to keep setting records, but the economy there has to stabilize a bit.

Likely because the 6 series had the larger screen. And since Apple released 2 different larger screen models at the same time, they got a lot of people who had been holding onto their phones. Or had been using android models.

For those where the screen was the big factor, the s models didn't change anything. And because of the + models, they don't leave much room for growing the screen in a 7 model.

Without subsidized models, it appears that a larger number of people are just buying the older model for the $100 or more savings.

I'm still under contract until September, so I'll skip the 6s. Without contracts in the future, I don't know how that will affect my buying patterns. Buy more frequently, since I'm not waiting for the subsidy? Buy less frequently because I'm not giving up the subsidy?

I think the market is basically saturated and so people only get phones to replace older ones. Recent phones have been so good that there is no hurry to buy new. Don't think it is so much that new aren't selling but not selling at growing rates.

One of the reasons may be the iPhone 5 and 5S users are still happy with their phones. ex: my mom has a launch day iphone 5 and after replacing the battery is still happy with the phone and has no plans to upgrade to the 6s.

For sales outside the USA, I think the appreciation of the $US and price rises of Apple products would be responsible for some drop off in sales.
In Australia the base model iPhone (tax inc.) was AU$869 . It's now AU$1079

Seen the stock price lately?

Yeah it's part of the global issues based around the ongoing oil wars and instability... but apple is over valued as a stock anyway so its not unexpected.
No doubt oil will continue downwards as the bans are lifted against IRAN and even more product hit the market.

Apples stock price would crash if iPhones sales stopped or dramatically changed for the worse.

Then would be good time to buy Apple stock.

What makes OP say sales are down? Apple always adjusts orders with suppliers this time of year. Apple guesses high so they are sure to have enough phones, then lowers orders to be sure they don't make too many.

Besides, what does it matter, how many phones Apple sells. Does OP have Apple stock?

I just think that right now the smartphone industry is at a plateau. There hasn't been a "must have" feature since Touch ID in 2013

It's debatable Touch ID is even considered a "must have" feature.

Back to the original post. I'll agree with the current gen smartphone industry has plateau.

Apple finally offered bigger screens.

What's more to offer? For 90% plus of the masses the platform is very mature. There will always be 5-10% of the tech population who are on the cutting edge.
