Rainer wonder how a case for this thing will work - I mean it has to fold, too, somehow?

Or are people now supposed to go case-less with their USD 1500+ devices, when they don't even do it for a USD 399 device?

And Apple has worked very hard to remove most (outside) mechanical parts of a phone - and now there's a hinge of some sort? How is that going to hold up over time?

BTW: iPhone XR, early 2019, no case ever, no damages (a couple of falls caused by and mitigated by QC25 cable....)
But going caseless is much great..... I have my expertise it makes my phone so weightless I have to check it is still there..
folding phones, not gonna survive people will switch to small phones which can easily fit in a pocket and handy.

I bought a case for my very first iPhone (3GS) - and used it a couple of days and then removed it.

With the XR, I thought about it a couple of days and then decided that a case would just ruin the appearance and the design of it - precisely the reason why I bought it (in ProjectRed).

It’s strange, you’d think those things could also be Apple keeping the price down..
That would be true if Apple ever actually did that, but they are to computers what Levi's was to jeans back in the 80s, or what other high-end brand names are to the categories of products they produce. Now, there is a difference in that Apple does a LOT of tech work and behind-the-scenes development, unlike most "premium brand" companies which maybe have some high-flying designer put their stamp on something, and then they turn around and charge $1000 for something which otherwise sells for $50.

But seriously, the Mac mini is a nice little unit which should probably sell for more like $250 or $300 at the most.

I paid over 2500 (CHF, which is more or less the same in Dollars) for my 2018 i7/32/1TB) in 2020 - two or three weeks before they made a price cut and a couple of months before the M1 hit the market.

Now I see used units sell for maybe half that….

Spent almost the same amount on decent Eizo displays though.
