I think people are being a bit ridiculous.

Clearly this is ENTERTAINMENT of sorts, not everything at all times has to be about a scientist or doctor telling people what to do; you go to official or scientific commercial sources for that.

Why you'd think that watching Oprah for that in the first place is a good idea, shows more about you, rather than anything she's doing wrong by just chatting with famous people via online.

My local hospital guide lines for administering a test make it seem unlikely anyone is getting tested just now

its a mute point

when the virus first started in January was the time to start getting prepared. I am thinking how much cost would have to get santa Clause to make a few extra face masks back than

Probably what she's trying to do is good - interviews of survivors that the public likely knows. I think that's what is on people's minds most - will I survive it when I get it and how gnarly was it? These interviews will help allay those fears (because those who died won't be interviewed).

I think the last thing we need is some doctor reading the bullet points off the CDC website. We can read it ourselves in a couple minutes. Anyway... doctors rarely provide encouraging information. Their job (it seems quite often) is to scare their patients back into the doctor's office

How are all these celebrities getting access to testing? They seem to be rationing it where I live.
Don't see where this obsession with testing is coming from. All the testing centers I've seen (driven by) have had long crowded lines. Looks like an exceptionally good way to pick up the virus to me. I wouldn't step foot in there. Assume you've got it, because if you want to test to find out, you'll probably get it anyway.

I hope when this all blows over that REAL role models emerge for young people. Health care workers, teachers, police, firemen, and FARMERS!!! These are the true heroes of society. On the other hand actors, talk show hosts, and news readers have no more qualifications to comment on anything than you or I do. Priorities and "pay commensurate to value to society" will be re-established in the coming new world. How did a talk show host become a billionaire while the people who feed us, teach us, and protect us...live paycheck to paycheck?

Crises are a great way to knock people back to reality, unfortunately politics is still playing a huge part in this, and mistakes are being made on both sides of the political spectrum. Sad, but it does seem that the mistake rate is going down for everyone, as we all start to get a better grip on reality. I just hope we can maintain this going forward, but we'll see.

I think a lot more people are wondering how they will survive economically after the ravages of the virus and the measures to prevent overloading the hospitals.

The country I live in is on hiatus - The currency has dropped 30 to 40% against the dollar, and even though the government is trying to help all the cafés et cetera that have been closed it's still going to be a cost which in the end will be born by the taxpayer.

The Economic factor is something that Oprah obviously has no useful input on.

In my opinion this is a disgusting money grab by a hypocritical, horrible media personality, given a platform by an equally exploitative automaton, Tim Cook...

Excellent series. Smart move by Apple to put some reality style programming on the service. It’s nice to connect with familiar faces when stuck at home. Excellent interviews, despite the low tech nature of the setup. I hope this keeps going, it’s nice to get surprise content like this.

I want to highlight an important point about nearly the entire first page of comments. None of those posters bothered to actually watch the show they were commenting on before posting. I think the episode does an excellent job addressing all the concerns about why actors and the wealthy get access to tests. It’s a function of capitalism. Idris Elba was ordered to get testing because he represents a serious investment stake and liability for his production company that is filming in New Mexico. If you don’t like free markets and capitalism I don’t know what to tell you. It is a function of supply and demand - people who are “worth” more (objectively, based on earning power) will get better protection. I hope this isn’t a shock to anyone. This will never change unless America falls to Communism, G-d forbid.

further, only the first episode involved an interview with an actor elite. The second episode is with a medical professional. And Oprah doesn’t offer her own medical advice, she is a conduit to let the interviewee shine.

I’ve got no love for Oprah in particular either, but of all the people spewing audio at their mic’s, it’s nice to have some kind of hopeful perspective if you want something to watch. I’d love a bookmark to a daily “GOOD news about all this stuff” site to offset all the bad. There is some. Someone’s got to shine a light on that somewhere.

By the comments here, I should surmise that if you are rich and/or a celebrity, you can’t discuss what’s happening in the world. Nope only “the rest of us” can.

nice logic. Hope none of you become successful then.

Many people are simple minded. They hate certain groups (for many, the rich), and love others. Makes life easier to manage since you don't have to think. I like Oprah, she means well. That's worth a lot. Let her interview celebrities if she thinks it helps. I doubt it, but who knows.

Celebrities can discuss it. It’s just frowned upon as headline “news” on this News & Rumors forum. If it went straight to the Apple TV subforum, I’m sure you wouldn’t have half the responses you have here

She's a good interviewer, so no doubt many people will find it interesting. Personally, I've had enough coronavirus news for today, if not the week or month.
I had to stop watching the news, except for a few minutes in the morning and evening. I was finding that the media really concentrates on the hot-spots and generalizes it to the point that it sounds like COVID-19 is the plague and basically everyone will get it tomorrow and die. I just follow the stats for the US and by state and while NY is having a tough time right now, other states aren't near as bad and with social distancing and stay-at-home, I truly think we'll get a handle on it sooner than later. I just get depressed when I hear cases "soared" for our city in 1 day, when it did did anything but soar. Anything for a headline. I just remind myself that 60,000 in the US died of the normal flu in 2018 and cities didn't shut down or entire economies destroyed.

The one thing I didn't like was how Idris Elba's other half decided to be in the same rooms where he is – exactly the opposite to advise of isolating near family member with the virus. He should be in a separate space for 7-14 days. It's not optional should you not 'feel' like doing it.
