Works fine on my sons phone which doesn’t have a home or a work address preset so I’m assuming it would learn if you are somewhere for a heh heh significant amount of time too like on a vacation.
Still trying to get mine working. I do think it’s not working because I have a smart battery case on. It’s not being so smart.
Yeah I misread the KB a little. It should work elsewhere as well. Home and Work were just examples.

"Optimized charging is designed to engage only in locations where you spend the most time, such as your home and place of work. "

Nothing to even worry about. I see most people not keeping phones long enough to worry about the battery anyway. If you do I mean it’s 50 bucks a cpl years down the road. Not worth fretting over.

I'm not convinced with your ideas here.
Apple user for 25 years here :) I always charge my products to 100% and just don't leave them charging through the night. The original MacBook battery lasted me 6 years before it died. No problems there. My Fiance's iPhone SE is August 2016 - she charges it to 100% and then unplugs it within an hour or so. Battery health is 97% after 3.5 years.

IMO it's the brand of the battery that makes the difference and possibly even the batch.

Another example, I bought a SLODA battery for my MacBook did everything that the user manual recommended - never let it drop below 10% and usually charged up to 80% and guess what? It failed after 14 months and completed died after 20 months with ZERO after sales services from SLODA & Amazon. In fact, the sales rep at SLODA said "Sorry, it's the best that we can do but anyway, have a nice day".
SERIOUSLY! Hardly great for the environment!!!

My experience is that Apple seems to select the ultimate for its components. Just don't leave it charging all through the night. No excuse to do that anyway when you have fast charging with the 11 Pro. Just charge it whilst you're showering or having dinner or getting ready for a run or gym.
It is not “my idea”. It is how the chemical into the battery works.

by the way you are basically saying the same thing: don’t let the battery plugged all night long.

I'm convinced it's the other places, because I have everything set as specified for locations and location settings, but it had never worked, and I have it on the cord when using CarPlay. All that should matter is if your alarm is consistent at least for the work week.

CarPlay is charging the phone.

My previous work provided vehicle didn't have CarPlay. The optimized charging worked, fairly quickly too. Now I have a new work vehicle with CarPlay (not wireless) I don't see optimized charging anymore. I think charging outside the specified locations alters its charging.

Just use it normally and you’ll be fine, the paranoia is absurd and utterly insane. The benefits of all these ridiculous techniques will be so minuscule you won’t even notice them in real use.

My friend still uses a 3GS for running, never replaced the battery and guess what? Works fine despite a decade of use where it was a daily driver for other people in the family until 2017.

Just enjoy the the thing and don’t worry about it, by the time the battery is noticeably worse chances are you won’t be using it and even if you are then I’d say the $70 for a replacement is a small price to pay for being able to enjoy using the thing normally for so long

I reluctantly had to change my iphone 6 in January because the battery has been rubbish for more than a year. The battery couldnt be exchanged beacuse the corner of the front glass was cracked so they would have to exchange the screen/glass too if I had the battery replaced with this genius product ingeneering that limits repairability. I expect the phone to last at least 5 years and I don't think I'm unreasonable at the price of 1200€+ (iphone 6 830€ in Jan 2015).

So excuse me for expecting an Apple advertised feature that enables me to prolong battery life to do what it is advertised to do.

I have been an Apple user since ... 1995 and owner of at least one Apple product since 2001, my first iphone was iphone 4. I never understood the blind fandom that tries to excuse every f**kup of the Company. I have seen how the solidity of engineering of the iphone is deteriorating from iphone 4, and picks up a bit again and goes down again. I have witnessed serious software issues in osx and ios, that were corrected later. And all this time someone was excusing the glitches and mistakes blindly.

My battery health is still 100% despite optimize charging not working on my phone.

I wonder how long that will last.
