Well it's worth the wait. This will be my 4th watch.
First was 42mm with link and a 42mm sport. Sold the link at a massive profit. Ordered a 42mm with Milanese but that had a battery issue so the one on its way is a replacement.
Been wearing the sport and will sell the sport on Saturday and stay with the Milanese

Wow, you're used to this waiting malarky then! ;)

I was tempted by the Milanese, it's a gorgeous looking watch...purely went for a 38mm white sport due to costs, one must reign in the buying when one is an expectant mother :D

Hi Guys,

I placed my order last night. Currently expected to be delivered between July 1 and July 8... Are delivery estimates correct at the moment? Or are people receiving their orders earlier?

Thanks!

KG

Depends on what you ordered, but turnaround time for the most popular model (42mm Space Grey w/ Black Sport Band) seems to be 12 - 14 days, so other models could be quicker

Ah cool - you're right, I ordered the 42mm Space Grey w/ Black Sport Band.

There was one in Watford that I was going to pick up on the Reserve and Pickup thing but by the time I'd clicked through, it'd already gone!

Hi guys,

I ordered a 42mm Space Grey w/ Black Sport Band on Monday (15th). I got an estimate "23 Jun, 2015 - 30 Jun, 2015". Yesterday I noticed that the status has changed to "Preparing for Dispatch". Do you think I could get it earlier? I'm in Edinburgh.

thanks,
Alex

Based on my order, I would say not. Mine was despatched yesterday and I'm expecting to receive it by the 23rd so I imagine yours might be around the same time or possibly the 24th / 25th.

Just received email for my AW SS ML 42mm ~
Ordered Friday 12 June
Dispatched Thursday 18 June
Delivery Monday 29 June.
Carrier UKMail

Question being: Why does it take 11 days from dispatched to delivery?
As this is UKMail I'm assuming the watch is already in the UK.

Thanks.

Anyone else getting the following on UPS tracking:

"Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later."

Latest location, literally updated 5 minutes ago

"Almaty, Kazakhstan 06/18/2015 5:20 P.M. Arrival Scan"

Original expected delivery was for tomorrow.

Yeah my tracking has it in Almaty now too. There is still a warning about there being a mechanical failure, I presume they will keep repeating this at each stage of travel just so that folk are aware there is a delay effecting the original expected delivery date. My original delivery date was for today.

My UPS tracking number hasn't been updated in 24 hours, and still showing the same estimated delivery of Monday. Apple said its on a plane and won't get updated on the UPS website until it hits the UK but other people seem to be having updates in each country. I don't get it...

Edit: it's showing different times as 'updated' then different times but not telling me where the package has been moved to? Or what it is that's been updated

So is everything being shipped direct to customers from China now?
Watches are shipped in batches. Sometimes there's more than enough to fill the backlog and the country then has some stock of that SKU. When you have local stock, they ship from in-country. When you don't, you're waiting for a batch from China. Until Apple actually gets ahead of the orders across the board and gets a chance to have a "float" of all SKU's in each country this is the reality we live in.

Same for me, but at least it sounds like they're on the move based on what Apple have told you! I just assumed it was still sat in a warehouse in China waiting to be picked up, so this is good news hah

Not everything.

Custom config Macs almost always ship from China (since it's being built in a factory if they don't have stock with that particular config available.)

Apple Watch, it depends on the stock availability, mine was shipped from UK warehouse, it arrived a day after it was dispatched.

Ah, so they don't send watches direct to customers from the factory?

You mean, do they put your watch on a plane all by itself and land the plane on your doorstep or are you not being sarcastic? :)

For some reason I had it in my mind that they were literally shipping some watches direct by UPS from China to the customer. I realise now that's not the case. :)

Well, they are and they aren't. UPS is the one doing all of the handling. Pretty sure there's a minimum batch size that Apple would use for production (and, really, it's the packaging that's different, not the watch inside).
As things are so tight from an availability standpoint, they may be shipping smaller batches to each country (other than the US that is - which still hasn't cleared April 10th for orders), so there won't be a lot of stock in addition to the batch, as their priority is to get the backlog filled for all countries asap.

There will be some lucky customers that get theirs super-quick because they happen to order at the right time (either get lumped in with a backorder batch or there's in-country stock at that moment), but they're only going to be "corner cases" for now.

Once the backlog's filled, Apple will get into a routine of keeping the countries stocked. (heh, provided the wave 2 countries launching next week don't recreate the same problem of course) :)
