Welp. I ordered an iPhone 14 Pro Max SG 256 on 9/09 from Verizon. I accidentally slept in a little and got a delivery date of 9/20, no prob. I finally get my package from UPS today and it's empty. No phone 😭. The box has brown security tape that was clearly cut and resealed with clear tape. I've spent over 3 hours on the phone with Verizon, which has been a nightmare. The solution ended up being that they filed a ticket number to investigate and will get back to me.... within a week! So I guess I'm left to twiddle my thumbs in the time being. To make matters worse, I'm going out of town in 2 days, so if they do magically resolve it, I won't be home to receive it.

Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to get Verizon to resolve this quickly? My brain is numb after talking to them for 3 hours. Also, has this happened to anyone else?

I will only order from Apple from now on 🥲

Sign up for a free UPS account. From there you can select a different delivery address if you’re not home. For example, have it delivered to your nearest UPS store and pick it up at your convenience.

That's what I did and they delivered me an empty box.

So, you picked it up at a UPS Store and didn’t notice the box feeling light before you left the store? Did you notice the seal had been broken or different tape had been used to reseal the box when you were at the store?

If you noticed any funny business, I wouldn’t have left the UPS Store without resolving it there…

Same thing happened to me today. After 2 missed attempts (was out of town) I stayed home all day to make sure I was here when ups delivered it. Driver got here and handed me the box and I noticed it was empty. Tape was super easy to pull so box had been opened. Driver called his supervisor and notified her of the issue. He said it’s not uncommon for employees to steal when they know what it is but most often they get caught. Opened a claim with Verizon and ups. I’m so bummed because I don't have faith this will be a quick resolution.

We both work, and getting delivery is difficult. Interestingly, most deliveries occur during work hours. We got a “box” at nearby UPS store, that registers as a standard street address. Works wonderfully. Registered this address with AMEX, and Amazon. Helps that it is next door to my wife’s workplace!

This is just crazy and absolutely ridiculous. I hope you and the other commenter get this resolved and y’all get y’all phones. It’s not right that this happened. This is one reason why I have my iPhones held at the hub before they even have a chance to be loaded onto a UPS truck.

This happened to me with the iPhone 11 Pro Max. Ordered from Verizon and got an empty box. Verizon was useless. They told me I needed to file a claim with UPS. That took about a week. Then Verizon finally sent me a new phone, but they charged me for it again even though they said they would not, and created a sub account to add it to. It was a cluster function. It remained on my bill for about a month while I called repeatedly trying to get someone to help me get it removed. Eventually I did get the charge removed, but I was left with an extremely bad impression of Verizon. I’m no longer with them. Verizon sucks ass.
This time I ordered direct from Apple.

Someone on this very forum, I think, recently had that happen with their MacBook. Thankfully they had ordered it from Apple, who immediately said no problem and overnighted a replacement straight away. I think Apple has the ability to remotely disable stolen products as soon as they connect to the Internet for situations like these.

Really sorry this happened to you, and hopefully Verizon can sort it out.

Sorry for not having read every post in this thread, but if this happened to me, I would immediately dispute the charge with the credit card company. They will remove the charge from your bill until it is settled and the onus will be on the company that sold you the phone to justify the charge.

By the way, one poster says he was told by Verizon to file a claim with UPS. No this is not how it works. THEY were the ones who used UPS so THEY are the ones who should file the claim.

Again, just file a dispute with the credit card company who will then contact whomever sold you the phone and require that they either make it right or prove that you are doing something fraudulant.

Usually that would be my first step, but I did monthly payments through Verizon so I could get the max trade in credit. It’s all done through my Verizon bill.

I’ve definitely learned my lesson. I’m only ordering from apple from now on

With all the unethical practices being done by all the shippers, it’s not worth it being delivered to your house anymore.
Exactly. I've done in store pickup for years because of all the junk that can happen with delivery.
