I've been on an iPhone 5S for a few years now, but the battery was wrecked (I actually did use the 3G for a short time to hold me over) and have been looking for a new phone. I considered switching to Samsung as I am moving away from the Mac platform too, but after looking I decided an older iPhone would be fine for my light usage. After pondering between the 7 and 6S I decided 6S. Main reason was I got a good deal on a 6S, trying to save cash where possible right now. Headphone jack will be nice too. I mainly use it as a basic phone, and a GPS for Maps. I probably won't update the iOS on it unless there is a really killer feature in the future and it doesn't slow the phone down. Gonna try and hold out with the 6S for a few years, maybe until 2022.

I’m surprised how many disparage against the 6S, that phone is still completely relevant with the A9 processor/2GB, the last phone to support the 3.5 mm Jack [Aside from the SE] and it still includes 3D Touch. That probably was one of my favorite iPhones in that particular series (6/6s/7).

Yeah, I think it's the most bang-for-your-buck iPhone right now. Really good for light usage, and I don't think I'd want anything bigger than the regular 6S

Something else, I don’t know what Apple changed specifically with the color calibration, but the 6S display had a nice white/stark display, it’s not as ‘warm’ (Yellow-ish) as the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 are.

I miss rose gold. My favorite color Apple has ever used. My iPad Pro 10.5 is rose gold, thankfully.

The 6s and SE are both still bad*** devices.

Looks like you are in Arizona?

Where did you buy your 6S?

How did you pay for it?

Yeah, I got the rose gold. Something different. Can't believe they got rid of it so quickly.

I got it on eBay for $145 shipped. If you look around you can find good deals, just make sure the battery isn't wrecked

Will probably come Monday...

That's awesome. The one I ordered actually is still on iOS 10.1.1, I'm considering leaving it there.

IOS 12 actually improves performance. It brought my 6S Plus new life, although admittedly I haven't searched for any downsides either, so I'm biased.

I don't need a huge battery, I don't really do a lot of streaming or web browsing on it. When my 5S battery was good I could get 2 days of use most times, sometimes more.

6s is still great. Only drawback is battery life.

True. And partially that was due to the 3D Touch module that was consuming more space, which reduced the battery size. (I always made a few tweaks with in the settings to help manage the battery low bit more efficiently.)

Don’t worry. You’ll regret soon once you face the reality of a 2.5 hr battery life.

I actually had the 7 first, then 6S for the headphone jack. Replaced the battery with an original myself, it can be a bit tricky because it's held by adhesive like all phones today. Apple phones to me are harder to fix compared to the brands because all the pieces and screws are tiny and flimsy. If you're unsure it's better to pay Apple to do it.

Running 12.1.2 jailbreak.

They changed the white point to 6500K on current phones. It was more like 7000-7200K on the 6/6S if I remember tests at the time, which IMO are the nicest, whitest displays Apple ever made on any phone.

Why they can't give us a simple white point slider is beyond me. Current phones are warm as absolute piss to look at, they've finally gone too far on the warmth scale, color accurate or not (who really does color accurate work on their phone anyway? Virtually nobody.) Give people the option to set their own white point, which would be infinitely more useful than something as stupid as color filters which pointlessly applies an entire filter over the whole display. I can make my entire display look like it's painted purple or red or green but I can't control the native whitepoint? WTF? This is why I've railed against Apple's glaring omission to let the user control the white point.

Oddly enough, my MBP is also 6500K and it looks 10x whiter than my supposed 6500K phone. So one just ain't 6500K, LCD vs. OLED notwithstanding. Display tech shouldn't matter, a given color temp is a given color temp regardless of display tech - it's either X temperature or it isn't.

I emailed Federighi and he responded, but didn't respond about a white point slider...but I've asked and he personally got the message, so I guess we will see if they ever give it to us.
