I agree with the OP.
I ordered my MBP (in stock, NOT custom) on the 21st with expedited shipping (1-3 days).
Estimated Delivery is on December 28th, 12:00pm.
It shipped out on the 22nd at 11:00am.
- 22nd [Day count: 0] (Business day, but lets be nice and assume the 22nd doesn't count as a day)
- 23rd [Day count: 1] (Business day)
- 24th [Day count: 1] (Saturday, assuming it's not a business day even though the Fedex website says expedited deliveries are made on Saturdays)
- 25th [Day count: 1] (Christmas, holiday)
- 26th [Day count: 1] (Boxing Day, another holiday)
- 27th [Day count: 2] (Business day... finally!)
- 28th [Day count: 3] (Business day, and also estimated delivery date!)
At this point, I think I've been quite generous. I obviously understand what business days are, I obviously understand what holidays are, and I obviously understand that shipping and delivery are two different things.
If I'm told 1-3 days, it should be here in 1-3 day from the day it's shipped.
If it arrives by the 28th, then it's all good. But if it doesn't arrive by the 28th, then it exceeds the "1-3 days" and it would be considered a late delivery. Right?
That's what the OP said as well, and I think a lot of you missed that.
He paid for NEXT DAY shipping. Yea it's custom built (stupid) so it'll take a few days before it's shipped (reasonable)... but once it's shipped... next day shipping should be NEXT DAY. Anything else is considered failure, and I don't see why people don't see that.

Has anyone noted that Apple say "Next Day SHIPPING"? To me, that means they ship it the next day, not have it arrive at your doorstep.
And by this logic, unless the retailer decides to never ship it... isn't everything considered "next day
SHIPPING" then? If so, then why have the premium option?
I understand the battle of semantics, and the technical difference between shipping and delivery date, but I'm pretty sure the way "shipping" is being used here alludes to expected delivery date as well.
Anyone who disagrees is being kinda silly...
