Next day shipping means the fastest shipping service available after they give it to FedEx or UPS.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one. To me, "Next Day Shipping" means "Next Day Shipping," and nothing else. I don't think I've ever ordered anything on-line with next day shipping and not received it the next business day -- or gotten an apology and refund of the extra shipping cost. Certainly, on Amazon, two-day shipping and next day shipping means the day after placing the order, doesn't it? (I should have noted that Apple did refund the extra cost of next day shipping.) If you can't do next day shipping, just don't offer it. It's that simple.

LOL. It's like saying, I ordered a speaker on amazon at 10pm and got "next day" shipping. It better come tomorrow, or I'm going to have a fit. Here in China we are 14hrs. ahead of you, but if it is custom made then it would have to be made here and then shipped out. The flight is 14hrs from Guangzhou to LA, and I'm sorry there is not an international airport in BFN Impatientvile. Assuming that the product was able to be mailed out at 8pm on the 27th (the day after ordering it to you, but the day the order was received in China) it arrived at LA at 10pm the 27th and most likely had to wait for the next flight to the next airport. And in most cases that would be the next morning (the 28th) lets say about 6 am. Well that is too late to arrive on time to get onto the trucks running around town to deliver your precious.

But not to fear! There is most likely a Philadelphia Eagles fan (and seeing as how they have not done as much cheering as expected has put on about 20 pounds over the season) waiting for your package to come into the routing station. He then gets it out on the truck to your place and it arrives around noon. All the while a costumer service rep. in Ohio has to deal with you, and can't do anything about the situation.

So in Summery a package was shipped from China some 7000 miles away and 28hrs from originally being shipped, but that's not fast enough! Here new shipping method. Strap it to of of North Korea's ICBM's and it will go to space and back and make the trip in oh say 15hrs, but the GPS system is not good enough so you may have to go to the next town to pick it up.

I don't know about you but 28 hours falls with in the "next day shipping" format in my opinion, because it came to you between the 24th and 48th hour after being given to the shipping agency. The would even be able to get it to you before 10am on the 29th still fitting in with the "next day policy."

I wonder if you will complain that the load speed is too slow. You should have gotten a SSD and then you could have saved a few hundred milliseconds.

It is logistically improbable for something to ship from a factory in China and arrive at your doorstep the next day. To have something arrive from China in less than 3 days is pretty good going in my opinion.

Not true. Depending on when an item is put on a plane it is quite possible to get it to someone by th next day - even if the total transit time is greater than 24 hours.

FedEx does a refueling stop in Anchorage, and the new Triple 7 goes direct from Memphis with no refueling stop, saving about 3 hours (and lots of money) in the process.

As for the OP, the relevant parts of Apple's shipping details are:

The 'Ships' time is an estimate of when the item will leave our warehouse. For example, if an item displays "Ships: Within 24 hours," the item will leave our warehouse within 24 hours after you place your order. While Apple works hard to ship every order as quickly as possible, personalized, custom-configured, and more popular items may have longer Ship times.

Shipping Methods

Once the item leaves our warehouse, the Shipping Method you choose on the Cart page determines how quickly your shipped item delivers to your doorstep.

Shipping Methods:

Guaranteed Next Day Shipping → Delivers within 1 business day

I'm sure Apple would refund the extra shipping charges; assuming the "received by FedEx" date and delivery date are greater than 1 business day apart. Note - FedEx may get the paperwork saying a package is coming before they get the actual package, so the first date on a tracking page may not be the day they get the actual item.

You can probably get a complimentary gift for them not meeting their promises (or a refund on the premium).

My order was supposed to come yesterday but it didn't (expedited shipping).
I called in today and asked whats up and was told there was a delay at customs and was offered a free gift to compensate for it (I didn't even complain or ask for anything).

I was offered a carrying case which I noticed ranged from $45-3$00+, and the rep told me to pick something and he'd tell me if it would qualify. I figured a $300 bag wouldn't check out, so I asked about a $100 bag and he said it didn't qualify and suggested I pick one closer to the $50 range or slightly above that.

I looked around... didn't see any bags I liked. I asked if I could get the Magic Mouse instead ($70) and he said yes and put the order through with free expedited shipping.

Score. :)

The most common misperception in business is "the customer is always right." They aren't.

You're misunderstanding of the term "next day shipping" is not the fault of the Apple corporation.

perhaps the confusion here is between next day shipping, and next day delivery..... now this has been mentioned the thread should be closed.. good day sir
