I ordered a i5/16/512 in silver

I'd of ordered the i7 but in the past the M7 wasn't really much better then the M5 and these chips are the same just higher clocked.

Yeah I wasn't too sure on which one to go for. It will be interesting to see the difference. I kinda went all out on this configuration since it has to replace my 13" Macbook Air 2012, and I want it to last me for a few good years.

Space Grey i7/16/512. Replacing my 2010 MacBook Air, so I figured I may as well go all-out as I get my money's worth out of them!:D

Replacing a MBA 2010 here as well :) Last model with the Core 2 Duo. Even the 2015-2016 rMBs were way faster, so with this one along with 16GB RAM... it's gonna be good.

I have a 2016 M7. Interested in the ram upgrade even tho 8gb has been enough for me. Also Interested in the heat/throttle trends of the i7. I would think it's about the same as my M7. Waiting for better upgrades to the battery, web cam, USB C port.
It's not even 10gbps. same 5gbps

I think most people who bought the 2016 model don't really have a good reason to upgrade to this one. I'm happy with the 16GB option for future proofing, but don't expect to really need it for a while and that often. So by the time the 8GB really becomes a problem for you, it's probably time to upgrade anyway, and there will be a way better and much improved rMB by then.

I will probably keep my 2017 MacBook till a decent amount of CPU improvements is made and ThunderBolt 3 is supported!

Love the form factor of the MacBook , small, light , fanless, and quick!

Agreed! This has been my favorite laptop Apple has made. I also don't know if it is worth upgrading until Thunderbolt 3 is included. I am fine with having only one port.

The one port has never bothered me since the announcement of the MacBook, I bet for the most part most people don't even use many ports, hence hearing all these stories of people returning MBP for them and long time MacBook Air users upgrading to them!

Hell my desktop with a million ports , i haven't needed to use any of the USB ports other then the ones my keyboard and mouse are using.. stuff like iCloud and OneDrive makes things so much easier!

That's what I'm thinking as well. In the meantime this 2017 model will more than suffice.

I've gone for the i7 8GB version. Not going to use for much else bar office work while travelling.
Does anyone have any more details of this CPU? I can't believe the i7 version isnt shipping till the 19th in the UK :(

My i5/16/512 doesn't ship till the 19th as well.

I think all the 16gb and i7 spec MacBooks are the ones with slightly longer shipping times , but the reg M3/i5 8gb systems ship a bit sooner

I believe the "standard" configurations ship immediately but anything with 16gb or an i7 is "special order". Mine is June 15-19th

As soon as the store went up I ordered the maxed out Macbook 12" Silver with the 1,4-GHz processor, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. I plan on doing some benchmarks once it's here.

Is anyone else purchasing?

I'm holding off and hoping they release a model with a 1 TB drive next year or the year after. I have the 2015 rMB 1.2 512 and it works so well I don't need to upgrade at this point. Besides I think I still have two more years on my Apple Care warranty so should be safe. Enjoy your new rMB they are a great machine.
