Interesting observation. I know this is all speculation, but are you saying you'd think Apple would skip any Coffee Lake updates to the Macbook? Is Intel not shipping "Y" chips in Coffee Lake?

If they indeed go with Cannon Lake, the next update would probably be a year away, agreed? Isn't Cannon Lake shipping in 2018?

yes according to Intel they are skipping Y chips with Coffee Lake and going straight to Cannon Lake as its easy to get good yields for low power chips. Cannon Lake and Coffee Lake will be sold along side each other, and ive heard nothing about Cannon Lake being pushed back so it should be on track for late this year?

My i7 16gb RAM 512GB SSD arrived.
First impressions:
- so small it's hard to do ctrl+tab without my hand falling off the side when using it on the lap on the sofa.

- I knew the screen was not as rich as the new MacBook Pro, but I'm a little disappointed that it looks a bit faded out compared to my iPad air 2. Whites are so white on that, but a little grey on the MB.

- I was fine with the keyboard for 30 minutes but after a while my fingers started to get tired bashing ok that thing. You really need to concentrate and make sure you touch-type with very little pressure. But I'm guessing it's just a case of getting used to it.

- It's very snappy and puts my mid 2010 base model 15" MacBook Pro to shame (even though it has 8gb RAM and a Samsung 512GB SSD).

- With my eye sight deteriorating, I've realised I actually prefer a lower effective resolution so the letters are big and crisp (1152x720). It's surprisingly usable for email and web browsing.

I was using Macbook 12 inch 2016 and it was my first macbook. Screen was impressive for me. Now ı am shocking when read this kind reviews. Guess its about macbook pro.
I am waiting for my order now macbook 2017 i5/16/512 :)

Got the i7/16/512 and I was doing some photoshop and GIMP last night, some pretty big resolution images... I am not a pro just doing personal amateur stuff.... But the machine handled it great, I've yet to see a beach ball, no stutters, hiccups or slowdowns. the SSD is insanely fast (then again I'm coming from a 2009 HDD MBP so...) the other thing I noticed is that the machine only got slightly lukewarm so that was good and the silence was awesome! didn't realize how annoying fans firing up were, I guess I had just gotten used to the sound. I will try some FCP movie editing this weekend but so far I am loving this little machine... It's more than capable for my needs.

Still waiting patiently for Best Buy to get some stock in so I can nab one. If they don't get them in by this time next week I guess I'll have to suck it up and order online so I don't lose out on the $100 coupon.

Mine finally arrived today and at 1st thought they send me a silver one, but depending on the light it actually is a darkish grey.

Still thinking of returning it cos it won't play nice with my 22" ADC Cinema display !!!!!
