The differences are the Gen 2 keyboard , Ram if you choose 16Gb , Kaby Lake update , to be honest if you already had a 2016 model I'd of waited for a coffeelake/cannonlake update as the 2017 kaby update isn't enough of a update over the 2016.
What would Coffee Lake bring? I don't think it'd get Thunderbolt, or would it? Also, it won't bring more cores like it will for the higher power chips.

Im pretty sure the Intel Y-Series Chips used in the MacBooks will be getting 10nm Cannon Lake as that will be the only initial 10nm chips by Intel due to yields and hence why the rest of the Intel line up will be getting Coffee Lake for U-Series and Desktops Chips.

But either or will add better power savings = better performance due to increased clock speed! we are also supposed to be getting a huge performance increase in the iGPU. also TB3 will probably come with both Coffee Lake and Cannon Lake

I'm personally looking forward to the next gen Macbook, if all that comes true. Let's hope Intel delivers, and in turn Apple implements.

I just bought a 2017 so I'm in no rush for a new computer but I'm still excited to see what Apple does and see the performance increases!

Once my Dropbox and Outlook work email accounts synced up, the extreme heat issues stopped. My i5 is now only warm under load....not hot.

Are anyone's MacBooks creaking? Ordered an i5 stock model and every time I pick it up it creaks/pops with a similar sound to the igniter on a gas stove.

A replacement arrived today and it also does it.

Yep. The 2017 model is fine but if you could have held out, and you're the type to keep your computers for a long time, the 2017 model is a bust. Of course, you can't wait forever for a computer, so if you needed one now, it's a great pick. But long term? No thanks.

that's not happening with my i7, quite the opposite it feels like a solid single piece of aluminum.

do you think ı had mistake with order Macbook 2017 i5/16gb ram/512?

I am planning to use long years for daily things. Watch video, manage my travel photos and social media.

I am really enjoying the keyboard on the 2017 MacBook versus the one I bought in Feb of 2016. Much more "substantial" feeling if that makes sense. Keys are more silent as well, important to me as I use this to take notes during meetings sometimes.

Same. Now that Mail (I don't use Outlook) finished downloading it's ok. I have some software glitches, like Night Shift not turning off automatically. But I don't think that warrants me returning.

It took about 1/2 day to get used to the keyboard and now I love it!

I’m really tempted to get one of these. But I’m waiting for more storage. If the iPad Pro has 512gb, there’s no reason this can’t have a terabyte.

Just got the Base 2017 for $1050 new sealed off craigslist. Thought Id never see a deal this early but someone got it as gift, lives in the middle of nowhere and was about to drive past my city. I have the 2015 also but after going to apple store yesterday I decided I'm into the keyboard and it ran smooth with tons of stuff opened. will do some tests with 4K monitor

I crunched the prices on the base model across all the retailers and Best Buy actually comes out as the best deal with you roll in their college student coupon and get back 5% via their credit card.
B&H - $1,279.00 + $0 = $1279.00 ($12.79 Rewards) $1266.21
Adorama - $1,279.00 + $0 = $1,279.00 ($12.79 Rewards) $1266.21
ABT - $1,299.99 + $0 = $1299.99 ($13 Rewards) $1286.99
Best Buy - $1,199.99 + $117.00 = $1,316.99 ($65.85 Rewards) $1251.14
MacMall - $1299.00 + $64.95 = $1,363.95 ($13.64 Rewards) $1350.31
Apple - $1,249.00 + $121.78 = $1,370.78 ($13.70 Rewards) $1357.08
Amazon - $1,279.00 + $127.90 = $1,406.90 ($42.21 Rewards) $1364.69

what do you think should ı change my order and order a macbook pro 13 touchbour? its same price in turkey.

The 12" Macbook is perfect for the thinks you listed you are using the computer for, im just saying you could have been fine with 8gb of ram, but 16gb is fine as well.

13" MBP with TB would be more powerful but again you don't need that power for the tasks you say your doing , and for me the weight and size of the 12" is so much better.

Thanks for answer. So ı am waiting for my order:)

Ordered my MacBook 2017 in a BTO configuration (i5/8GB/256GB) last friday. Any idea how long shipment to my 3rd party reseller will take?

I played around with the m3, 256gb in the Apple store and that thing is really capable and fast. Opened a youtube 2160p video playback, another 8 tabs, launched GarageBand, Pages, app store, iTunes and started changing tabs, messing around with everything. I didn't get the beach ball not even once. It was very snappy, very responsive. I was zooming in and out like crazy on Safari and didn't lag not even for a second.

And keep in mind that was the m3 version. Now I am seriously thinking of getting the m5/16gb/512gb.

Currently, I have a rMBP 13", 2015, I7, 16gb, 512gb (which is really, really powerful) but the slim design, compact size, and minuscule weight is winning me over. I also love the keyboard — I prefer it to the spongier feeling of my current rMBP.

That said, when at home, I do have it constantly connected to an external screen and I use at least one more USB. Don't know how comfortable I'll be with a single USB-C port but I guess there are adaptors out there to solve this.

My workload doesn't involve any video editing or anything else too demanding. I use chrome with tens of tabs open, a lot of writing and pretty much everything is browser based. That's why now with 16gb RAM I am completely covered.

Damn that thing is expensive though...£1729...:(

Interesting observation. I know this is all speculation, but are you saying you'd think Apple would skip any Coffee Lake updates to the Macbook? Is Intel not shipping "Y" chips in Coffee Lake?

If they indeed go with Cannon Lake, the next update would probably be a year away, agreed? Isn't Cannon Lake shipping in 2018?
