I don't use it that much (due to the inaccuracy), but here in Canada (at least where I live/travel in Canada), it often points to locations on considerably wrong street locations (like way down the street... several blocks or more down the street), or even on the wrong street. And, that's for street addresses! Actual POIs, I'm guessing, might be even worse.

Well, such severe inaccuracies never occurred to me with Apple Maps, even navigation and live traffic seems to work flawlessly. I actually like using Apple Maps for navigation, whereas my parents rely on expensive third party navigation apps, which don't really do a much better job to my mind.

But, again, I've probably only used it roughly 10 times since it came out. Most of the time I just go right to the browser, as search results there typically uses Google Maps. It's usually when I accidentally click on a street address, which auto-launches Maps, when I notice this (which, ultimately makes the wait a huge annoyance).

And I've only used Apple Maps since iOS 7, so I don't know exactly how bad it was initially (I jumped from 3rd gen iPod touch to iPhone 5s, so I skipped iOS 6). Must've been pretty bad though since it cost Scott Forstall's Job...

As long as I use it, and where I use it, Apple Maps works really well at least.

Apple is also reportedly working on a major new kernel-level security system called "Rootless" for OS X and iOS that will help curb malware and protect sensitive data by prohibiting users from accessing certain protected files on Mac and iOS devices. "Rootless" appears to be a permanent feature of iOS, much to the chagrin of the jailbreaking community, but can likely be disabled on OS X.

So what happened to rootless?
