To all those hoping that the 10.5.2 update will fix the 'first keystroke not always registered' bug on certain MBP's should not get their hopes to high. Seems that the issue is more related to a certain Shanghai batch of the MBP with serial numbers starting with W8. So guess that would suggest an hardware issue?

My W8 MBP had its keyboard replaced and that fixed the problem.

It would be cool if Apple said that you could go into any Apple Store and copy the upgrade from there - they could download it at the shop and then install it for those who need, to save their bandwidth, or to help those like me (and you) who will be unable to donload due to terminally slow dl speeds.

But it won't happen :(

ironically the problem i need it to fix will prevent me from downloading the update!

I have airport problems where i can barely connect to the internet for more than 30 seconds at a time without it dropping? How the hell am i going to download a 100mb update if i can't even download a 100kb HTML file!!

This keystroke issue is an odd one. I don't seem to have it as severely as some of the people on the apple forums, however I'm sure on waking from sleep or screensaver, I sometimes seem to have to press a key twice (or press 'space' twice to unpause a movie.)

I had the problem out of the box and it was not limited to waking from sleep. It was dropping keystrokes when editing mail, and so on. My first trip to the Genius Bar resulted in no help. I wrote a letter of complaint to Apple and then the manager at the Apple Store I had gone to called and took care of it by replacing the keyboard. Problem solved. I have not had a dropped keystroke since it was fixed last summer.

Actually, you can download and install the update manually, without the Software Updater. Well, I've never been to an Apple Store but why should it be a big problem that they give it to you (if you ask them nicely)? :D

Indeed, I may ask - brave the elements and take my MB out on a journey to the Apple store.

A 400MB dl (even with the manual option from Apple) would likely take me 2 days, assuming no dropouts or disconnections, which often happen.

here we are wayyyyyyyy off topic again!! can we get back to 10.5.2?? thats all i care about and i have a W8 MBP that works perfectly. all i want to know is when the heck 10.5.2 is coming out and what the **** is apple doing?

I've got a W8 that works fine as well, anyone know when 10.5.2 is supposed to be due?

Due sometime between 2/11/2008 - 12/31/2008:(

I got a feeling Apple will release this on Feb 29 though, just so they can do something on that day.

that is complete ignorance on apples part if that is indeed true. this is not a feature update, this is an oops we screwed up and leopard sucks we need to fix the beta we dropped on everyone update!

Today is the 5th day since a new seed (9C31 back on 6th Feb). This is the longest without a new seed since the gap of 7 days between 9C16 (15th Jan) and 9C20 (22nd Jan). If we don't see a new development seed today (or the real thing of course), I think we'll see the update tomorrow.
EDIT: or hopefully this week....(i'm just guessing here)

10.5.2 Release set for 2-12-08

Apple's MAC OS X 10.5.2 UPDATE WILL BE RELEASED 2-12-08.

haha no just kidding I wish I knew when it would be but I've been waiting forever for this damn update and I am goin to go crazy if it's not released by the end of this week. Why do they do this to us (apple). Why can't they just be nice and say ok everyone we have a release date set for blah blah blah instead of people killing themselves trying to know when this damn update is gonna happen. Who's with me?

My behaviour has now become so sad that I have a clock widget set to California time for that very reason.:(
Yes me too. Local, Cupertino and New York (EST) time. Very useful in my opinion. Not just for updates. For keynotes, launches and special events as well.
