Really hope an update to Aperture is coming soon to allow it to run in full screen!

Aperture 3 already has a full-screen mode, they brought it over to iPhoto '11.

It's not, however, the new full-screen function. Aperture runs full screen but it doesn't get it's own desktop space like Safari and Mail do.

I'm betting on lots of updates in the next few weeks and a possible launch of Aperture 4 soonish.

Thanks for this. Wonder why they have it hidden by default.

Because people will move or delete their Library folder. Then they'll show up at an Apple Store claiming their computer just did some funky things (like reset all the settings) without them ever doing anything, and especially not moving or deleting the Library folder.

Is the ability to hide the toolbar in fullscreen Safari gone for everybody else? (go to "view" at top menu, the top option "Hide Toolbar" is greyed out for me.)
It seems like this was fluctuating gone-and-back between each preview release. I'm sad to see it missing now in the GM.

Right-click on the toolbar and choose "Hide Toolbar" ;)

I think there's a bug somewhere, depending on Apple's intention: either the bug is "Hide Toolbar" being disabled in the menu, or the bug is it being enabled in the contextual menu.

Thanks for the tip! I'm glad that the option is still sort of there at the moment, but I miss my quick and easy shortcut key that I had setup to hide/unhide. Now if I right click and hide the toolbar, I need to go to "view - customize toolbar" just to unhide it. It's still better than nothing.

Several things I am experiencing:

QuickTime Player Full Screen Bug: When quitting quicktime while playing a movie in full screen, the next time you launch the app you see a quicktime window stuck on a full screen pane in an odd way. This has been there since DP 1.

Keyboard layout issue with passwords: When it is set to ask for password when waking up, Mac OS X tends to change the layout. So even though it says it is on u.s. layout, the actual character recognition might be that of the French keyboard, if it was set to that when computer went to sleep. This is particularly annoying if you have "y" in your password and are switching between qwerty and qwertz keyboards. This has been there since I got my mac with leopard in 2008.

The screen is flashing on startup many times, I don't believe Apple wants to release this with visuals like this.

Drag lock gestures are gone. It was my favorite thing and it was gone from DP4 too.

I would be really disappointed if it would be released in this phase. I would much rather wait till July 31, if they fix these.

I just tested this. I put something in fullscreen and then quit QT. When I launched it next time it loaded the video I had open, but it opened it in windowed mode, not fullscreen. I don't experience the bug you are having.

Don't have anything but a US keyboard here so I can't test this out, but if it's an old bug I wouldn't count on it being fixed anytime soon. Maybe there is a workaround you haven't discovered? :(

What flashing? I don't get that at all on my end, maybe it's dependent on the video card used?

Drag lock gestures are gone. It was my favorite thing and it was gone from DP4 too.

I don't remember seeing those in the earlier DP, guess it wasn't the memorable for me. Either way this isn't that big of a loss I think.

They won't delay it for any of the reasons you mentioned, there has to be some huge bug like where 90% of systems get corrupt after install or something horrible like that.

I guess you are right. Still that QuickTime bug frustrates me. On my mid-2010 MacBook I can reproduce the scenario every single time. And as I work a lot with videos, if this is persistent, it is going to bother me.

Have you reported the bug then?

Has anyone else experienced slow firewire speeds in OSX Lion GM using Time Machine?

When I backed up SL originally it said 60 minutes from clean install and all apps added 117GB.

When trying to backup Lion from clean install and all apps to Lacie drive, via firewire 800 at roughly the same size, says 2 hours and appears slow.

Is there any way I can determine the throughput speed? Activity monitor says a peak of 12mb per second. Is this correct?

Odd issue when switching from a full screen game (TF2) to the dashboard and back. You have to command-tab then command-tab again to set focus back to the game. Not something you'd probably have to deal with very often. I only noticed because I was checking the temps in iStat Pro. Had a similar issue back when Steam and games were released for Mac with the old dashboard so this is probably easily fixable as well.

- Install process was a train-wreck. Installer misconfigured my update (since this is GM, I foolishly updated my day-to-day SL), and the OS wouldn't boot. My internet was down, so I couldn't reinstall. Basically bricked my computer. Led to my first backup/reinstall as an Apple customer (> 6yrs). Not impressed.
- Mail, Contacts, Calendars does not support Address Book for Gmail (you have to go to Address Book > Sync with Google)
- You cannot resize icons in the Launchpad (I'm on a non-multitouch MB, so I don't know if there's a gesture)
- Why exactly do you need a multitouch trackpad for inertial freaking scrolling?
- CTRL+scroll doesn't seem to work for zooming the screen (I've enabled it in settings, but still nothing)
- AirDrop: where?
- All My Files impressively fast, completely useless
- Mission Control is ugly with 2 windows
- hold ctrl, press left/right to switch desktops. You need to release and repress ctrl before pressing up to go to M/C.
- I want devices above favourites in the finder sidebar
- Can't hide apps from launchpad
- Check out the Microsoft-style blue gradients in the help!
- I'm sure I'll find more. Apple seem to have removed (or "removed" by changing completely and poorly documenting) as many features as they've added.

Sometimes I think the new OS is great, sometimes I hate it. Never been so polarised with an OSX release before.

It works very smooth within SL. But yes, I think the Intel GPU drivers aren't optimized yet for Lion.

BTW Intel 3000HD GPU is really fast though. Certainly one of the fastest onboard GPUs atm.

X3100 is working fine for me, but I think that's because Apple hasn't touched those drivers in years. Intel got a lot more out of the card in Windows, but Apple just never bothered.

Yep i have this same problem, it seems to put the windowed app onto another Mission Control desktop with a weird grey background. Have you done a clean install or the upgrade?

One really bad bug I found was that the Finder windows would ONLY be visible when you were switching from one desktop to another using trackpad gestures (but they'd disappear when the animation was finished). Very distressing and required a complete re-install to fix.

Frankly, I don't think this is ready for GA.
Too many bugs.

1) The home folder I pinned in Finder doesn't want to stay there for some reason.
2) Every download in Safari fails for some reason (can't write?!), so I have to download everything twice.

Not quite the quality I expected from a GM.

Said Quicktime bug. I'm not sure this GM is up to standard, really.

Mail in full screen seems very nice. However, if I am composing a new message, and want to refer to previous email, there seems to be no way of toggling between the mailboxes and the email I'm writing, other than saving it to drafts. Am I missing something?

Not having either of those issues.

Yes, I also noticed this. It switches to three different schemes. The original grey bootscreen, then to a darker grey bootscreen following the login screen.
Especially the switch from light to dark grey is not very nice.
Indeed a strange choice they made. Not very Apple-like imo

I totally agree, but it is the GM so ...

I really dont get the Launchpad. Seriously, is there one person that is ever going to use this? Common, that should never be included.

BTW yes I know it is meant for touch screens but imo this should not be in OS X.

I agree 100% OS X Lion just doesn't feel right when you work with it. So many issues, bad performances, ...
IMO it is a rushed out OS X version needed for the upcomming new Macbook Pros and iMacs. Shame really ... will give OS X a bad name for sure.

thankfully, no one is forcing you to upgrade your machine, otherwise you'd be in for a world of hurt.

You'd agree that it's not ready for general availability, right?

Edit: weird, my audio greyed out too. Is this a joke?

Every 10.x.0 release has been like this. And as I've said, I've had no major issues in my Clean Install yet.
