They should be careful with the word "world". The iphone is pretty crappy and only has a fraction of features compared to a lot of Japanese phones. Who are they trying to kid exactly? Really its not even a matter of opinion, its just not possible to argue that its more advanced than other phones in asian countries.

Americas most advanced phone? Sure. Europe's most advanced phone? Maybe after 3g, right now its doing very bad there. Asia's most advanced phone? Well thats just funny.

Hello Mr Worm on a Hook, I mean flame bait! :p

Accelerometer coming to MBA? :apple:

FYI

MBA and all Apple notebooks have an accelerometer (not sure about the older portables, damn sure about the current product line). It is called SMS (sudden motion sensor).

They can exploit it for increased functionality.... but this is not new... will be just old wine in new bottle.

The MB and MBP have accelerometer's in them to detect sudden drops, one could assume that the non-SSD MBA has one too.

Sorry, overlooked ur post. Never mind!

Update: MacNN has posted an extensive gallery of images from Moscone:

I read this article and immediately noticed this:

"The annual developer conference is expected to bring the next iPhone 2.0 platform along with a third-generation iPhone..."

Is it just me or does someone not know what the 3G stands for?

Edit: Sorry, the link for the article didn't copy through. http://www.macnn.com/articles/08/06/05/wwdc.08.early.photos/

Third generation? Lol. That's even worse than the people who think I'm waiting for a 3 Gigabyte iPhone

That's different as its just a tag line, but a deliberate clue.

I'm talking about actual products being shown on these kind of banners. There is no way Apple would put a redesigned MBP or iPhone 2 on those banners, if the product was to be announced at the keynote.

Oh, ok.. i'm with you 100% on that.. haha, the last thing apple would do after keeping the products a secret for 12 months is slap a picture of them on the banners in the lobby 3 days before the Keynote.. lol. I was just trying to figure out if there were any hints behind the "A Landmark Event.. in more ways than one" banner

I have no idea...and MacNN has a lot of pictures of it

Look what I found.

It has to be it.

120/128GB Flash based drive? My god... the drive alone would cost most than a Macbook Air... what the hell is that supposed to be, if accurate?

Somehow I think Apple is just paying people to put up stuff on screens at Moscone Center and throw it out there to the rabid rumors community sometimes... :)

huh.. well i can't see a full 6-axis accelerometer akin to one in the iPhone being of any use in a MBA. I do see it proving useful in a MacTablet.. of some sort.. if one is in development..

Ah hah! Thank you! I would not have known that...

No worries.... We learn something new everyday as some1 said earlier.

I think people are just gonna crank up the rumour mill this weekend. I am sure out of the next 100 threads which are going to be posted all over the web from now and until Steve note are just gonna be some hyped up speculations.

I bet, not even the 5% of the next 100 :apple:-related threads on the web are gonna be bring any authentic info.

I just had a sobering thought based on a comment here a few posts back:

Most everyone has seen that Ballmer video where he laughed at the iPhone - of course that interview was months before the iPhone became an actual reality and now, a year into it, it would be safe to say that even if Ballmer hates it, he'd have to admire the device period.

In that video he makes a distinct point about Windows Mobile devices, and as such because Microsoft doesn't make PDAs, they're simply licensing the software to hardware makers, etc - same old same old for Microsoft.

But what if...

What if Apple is about to push a device on the market come Monday's keynote - and also as stated before they have used WWDC to promote some rather big items in the past - that's more akin to a PDA as we know them to be, based on OSX as the operating system, not quite a tablet-sized device but still very tiny and portable.

That earlier picture with the 120 or 128GB Flash storage mentioned shows 10" LCD from what I can make out, widescreen of course, but it's that "Programmable LCD Keyboard" that has really got me thinking. Sure the 3G support at the bottom and 11n are expected, but...

Is the first serious Apple tablet device about to drop on Moscone Center and the world on Monday? 10" seems a bit small to me, and there's no way in hell an iPhone, even an updated one, will have a 10" LCD on it unless they're moving from 16:9 ratios to 2.35:1 or something. 10" LCD is fairly large compared to a PDA or anything even in that class, sooo...

If that image shown on that screen is accurate, it can't be anything but a tablet - they wouldn't put a "Programmable LCD Keyboard" on a real laptop as it wouldn't be necessary, unless they about to come out with something like a Nintendo DS device: two screens, both can be used for displays, with one capable of touch operation.

Man I hate speculating, but I can see over the next few days this thread is just going to explode with such things. :)

Oh well, it's something to do I guess, right?

iNewton, anyone?
