Why is this considered news?

Because it is news. Banners being put up is news, and helps build excitement. I can't wait till monday. It's going to be amazing (I hope). Here's to iPhone V2!!!

^^agree
It almost feels like they are only gonna relese v2 software (its unlikly, i know...)

They are definitely going to release v2 software, it just isn't likely to look much different from the software we've already seen... You never know, though. "OS X iPhone" is definitely a new phrase.

There is something like a chat bubble (iChat icon) coming out of the iphone on the wall
Good Question. The only Official orange icon on the iPhone is the iPod icon, and that definitely isn't the iPod icon.
No at the right on the wall.
You have upper-right with black - pink/purple gradient and icons, in the middle some iPhone and some black (for me it looks as a screen) and you have bottom-right with blue - black gradient and icons.

Edit: ow I see, the black is the wallpaper of the macbook air , dumb dumb dumb :(

That's an iPhone on it's side in front of a MBA with all kinds of crap floating around it.

Why does it say "OS X iPhone" and not just "iPhone" or "Apple iPhone"? I know, I know the iPhone has OS X on it, but it still looks strange to me.
Because now it's a development platform. It wasn't last year. This is a developers convention. Not a consumer one.

nothing new to see here, move along.

they are just posters. Of course they arent gonna show posters with the "new" iphone on them, they probably wont go up until monday. That would be a leak waiting to happen.

"Yes mr security guard, i need you to guard these large posters". haha

i think the speculation is really getting out of hand with all these threads. I love reading the threads, but man, people... GET A GRIP :)

Yeah, how dare they post it on macnews.com ... oh wait, this is macRUMORS.com. I guess technically this isn't a rumor either, as they don't conjecture anything based on the banners. That's where we come in!

I think "OS X iPhone" means that everyone who buys/bought Leopard gets a free iPhone. And a Leopard.

Haha, YES, I'm down with a free Leopard. *rawr*

They should be careful with the word "world". The iphone is pretty crappy and only has a fraction of features compared to a lot of Japanese phones. Who are they trying to kid exactly? Really its not even a matter of opinion, its just not possible to argue that its more advanced than other phones in asian countries.

Americas most advanced phone? Sure. Europe's most advanced phone? Maybe after 3g, right now its doing very bad there. Asia's most advanced phone? Well thats just funny.

Maybe we can put all that Golden Gate bridge nonsense to rest now.

Two Bridges = Two Platforms

now, where's those black sheet covered banners!

Well...safe to say that Apple will ride the OS X marketing train for a while.

OS X iPhone
OS X Leopard

First time I've seen the iPhone with OS X before it.

Clearly this represents the 2 bridges as OS X.

My reaction?

Why is it no longer called "MacOS X"? It's only "OS X" now? Does this... mean something? (I thought it was "MacOS X" / "TouchOS X")

Does anyone know if they are going to even announce anything big on monday because that is just when it starts they don't have to announce anything the first day?

Anyone else thinking this whole "snow leopard" thing isn't the next gen of mac OSX, but instead it's the *mobile* version of osx?

Newsflash: Apple plans to talk about their operating system at WWDC. Film at 11.

;)

It was never called either, it was always called Mac OS X. The iPhone OS never had a name until now though (I'm pretty sure).
