Cool.........But the iPhones on the banners are the current models. :( I don't see anything new about them.(no video camera on the front, no 3G symbol/icon in the top status bar, etc.) PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE Steve, release the new iPhone on Monday. I think we will start riots if you don't. Torches and pitchforks anyone??:D

they wouldnt want to release any pics to soon
and the camera on the front wouldnt be noticeable even if they showed the new version
its a sensor really
under the glass

They should be careful with the word "world". The iphone is pretty crappy and only has a fraction of features compared to a lot of Japanese phones. Who are they trying to kid exactly? Really its not even a matter of opinion, its just not possible to argue that its more advanced than other phones in asian countries.

Americas most advanced phone? Sure. Europe's most advanced phone? Maybe after 3g, right now its doing very bad there. Asia's most advanced phone? Well thats just funny.

I kind of agree... But, bear with me: if a multitude of features was any indication of something being "world's best", MS Word would be the world's best word processor...

I know this is not the perfect example and, although I try not to, I am sounding like an Apple fanboy (which I most definitely happen to be). But I think you get the point...

Being the "world's best" or "world's most advanced" can mean a lot of things, including:

1. Being truly revolutionary or innovative;
2. Being truly usable, contrary to some of the most featureful gadgets on the market;
3. Being cooler than any other gadget on the market;
4. All of above.

Certainly, the iPhone fits into some, if not all, of the alternatives above.

On the left, we have Leopard's purple color scheme. On the right of the computer, we have .Mac's blue color scheme. And surrounding both the Mac and the iPhone, we have applications. It all makes sense, think about it.

When you start deciphering color schemes, you know you're reading WAY too much into it.

Apple has needed a serious competitor to Microsoft's Office paradigm. With iWork completely up to spec, all that's left for Apple to convince people are Outlook and Exchange alternatives.
erm, uh, iWork is not "completely up to spec." Don't get me wrong, I love iWork, but it cannot yet compete with M$ Orifice. Keynote blows Powerpoint out of the water, and Pages is a joy to use compared to Word, but Numbers...well, I prefer to use Numbers, but it is feature-poor compared to Excel, which is arguably the most important of the Orifice apps. Until Numbers can blow Excel out of the water (give it two years), iWork can't supplant Orifice.

Just to tease those people craving for a new Newton, I would say: if OS X iPhone is now a platform, wouldn't that imply that there'll be more diverse hardware products for it?

I mean to ask: as it is -- one single model of a hardware product (iPhone), plus a software product (OS X for iPhone) --, would it constitute a real platform? I guess so, but...

Maybe the platform is gaining more hardware options next Monday, eh?

very likely

You know what would really suck????????
If WWDC was just for developer to look at the inside of Leapord, look at the new iPhone apps, and advertise old products
No 3G
No new MBs
MBPs
MBAs
MMs
cinema displays
tablets
super iPhones

that would suck

not likely

I hope they don't start calling it "OS X", it doesnt sound 'right'; "Mac OS X" sounds far better.

Ya i noticed the blue on the MBA and on the poster on the right wall
could be .Mac
could be somehing new to Leopard
Could be a crappy designers mistake

Apple's designers don't make mistakes. Every single little thing, especially color scheme, has a role. Think about the default Leopard desktop; that uses only Leopard theme colors. So did the Tiger desktop.

This is no mistake. I rarely leap to conclusions about these things, but I feel very confident in my, well, guess I suppose.

Personally I think the new .Mac will either be a helluva lot cheaper or free with OS X and/or iPhones.

Exactly, but WWDC has been a launch platform for some major hardware announcements including the G5 processor and the Power Mac G5. While we will hear about a 3G iPhone, I doubt it will be announced the same day.

I agree, but my point was that the main banners and things are going to be software/development related and people shouldn't freak out about it. :D

You guys seem to have forgot the laws of perspective, things farther away look smaller. The iPhone is way at the front of the keyboard And the screen is a good 8 inches behind it.

WAIT! UPDATE!

That can't be a MacBook Air... look at the bezel under the screen compared to the side!

Huh.

i thought that stood out
but i didnt want to say anything cuz ive never looked at a MBA physically

You're right about leaked pics, but I just REALLY want to see the new phone, like we all do. Also, you might be able to tell about the camera in the front because the ear piece/sensor area in rumored pics is longer than the current version, but idk my BFF Rose who's other BFF is Jill who goes WAYYYYYYYYYYYY over on txting just like me. LOLOLOL:eek:

Huh.

Anybody else notice this?

When you start deciphering color schemes, you know you're reading WAY too much into it.

With any other company I would agree with you. But with Apple, and to a designer like myself, color scheme is key to many aspects of your work.

My question is that this seems to indicate that the iPhone OS is officially called OS X iPhone. However, what about the iPod Touch; it runs the same OS.

I would think they would name it something else to include the Touch plus any other "touch" hardware.

Why not "OS X Touch" and "OS X Leopard"?

What if it's the other way round??? Maybe that's a picture of the MacBook Air with the new tablet in front of it...

Just a thought...

Actually, that's the new iMac Air. You heard it here first, kids.

It reads:
"The world's most advanced mobile platform."
Not "... phone."
There may be a few more advanced mobile phones,
but not a more advanced mobile platform.... big difference.

You, my friend, are a genius. And I don't think anyone can argue that OS X iPhone is not the most advanced mobile platform.
