Well, Apple had some bugs to work out, and this is what Lion looks like now:

Too bad there is no Mac out yet powerful to run this beast-of-an-OS. It requires a 1-bit graphics card and an 8MHz processor (A Motorola 68000), and we all know intel isn't quite up-to-par yet.

They had a second GM for iOS recently.

That was one time, and it was for a very critical bug that made the iDevices pretty much useless (it broke Wifi I believe). Lion has some bugs, but nothing nearly as serious. Apple has otherwise NEVER released a 2nd GM before.

Not gonna happen folks

Let's read the tea leaves.

Lion goes GM last week.

Xcode 4.1 goes GM and allows Lion apps to be submitted

This week there were a slew of Software Updates for iLife, Aperture,

Weird app store issues with intermittent outages happen over the last couple of days.

Apple makes cattle call to devs to submit apps.

Lion isn't coming until friday of next week folks. Tomorrow makes no sense.

It will be released today but will be invite only. And those with .me email accounts will be the first to try it. Expect lots of 'invite me please' posts :p

I hope you guys don't lose too much sleep waiting for the new Macs and Lion tomorrow :)

That is the exact quote. I have no way to interpret that because of that damn smiley face. I guess we will find out soon enough though.

Here is what Ballmer looked like after he read this on MacRumors:

This picture gives me nightmares every time I see it!

Anyway I hope Lion comes out soon but sadly I have to end my early adopting ways :( (At least on my main desktop, my laptop is still fair game :p )

I don't care about Lion, I care about the new hardware! This is getting unbearable. I don't care if Lion is buggy, by the time my hardware ships and arrives, they'll probably have a patch out.

Don't worry, you will be getting your 20-core Mac Pro soon enough.

I know, it's too bad that you have sit and use an old Apple IIe, but upgrades are coming, be patient ;-)

it's been mentioned elsewhere that major releases of OSX have traditionally been on a Friday/Saturday (depending upon where in the world you are) - albeit with a couple of exceptions.

also, if those 'do-not-open' boxes delivered to various Apple Stores all over the place this week contain anything other than iPod and iPads, then the loaded-with-Lion hardware is already in place.

I'm saying this Friday/Saturday :D

Why did they ever remove the Apple logo from the key? I liked it. Doesn't seem to make much sense either (removing it that is).

I think because people were referring to it as the "Apple key" when it is clearly the command key. They even started writing "command" on it to reinforce that.

i am kind of disappointed but i would rather have a stable release than something filled with bugs. 10.6.8 is suiting me well and will be waiting patiently until lion is ready. :)

The GM was out. I think that means no changes until after the release.
The issue is probably with making changes to App Store to enable the type of functions required to distribute / install an OS online.

I am assuming it is more than just download a dmg and burn to disc.

No kidding, it's all a migration to minimalize the Apple spirit. First we lose the 6-color Apple logo, then Apple quits "Think different" then they move to using intel processors (I didn't like this move), then they remove the Apple logo from the command key. Apple is progressively losing their coolness factor, one small move at a time.
