It should be free.

Nope. There are so many enhancements and improvements in Mavericks that any true Apple fan should be willing to pay an upgrade fee to support the Mac platform. If we don't support the Mac with our money, Apple could abandon it sooner than we want - keep that in mind when making demands for free stuff.

If any paying for updates, iOS 7 should've cost money.

Recent OSX versions have had to be purchased. I don't see any reason why this would be any different.

If you can't see the merit in paying a nominal fee of $20-30, then don't upgrade.

I was just wondering if Apple would release an update that "addresses an issue that could cause one's eyes to bleed unexpectedly on launch when running Reminders, Game Center, and the other skeuomorphic apps with felt and leather."

i heard they have not been changed

At least now I know the likely answer. Thanks.

Don't take my word for it, but I think you can just copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures folder to an external HDD. Then transfer it back after your clean install.

I just install iPhoto, get all the updates and copy the iPhoto library from my time machine. Works every time.

It's funny how people complain about paying $19.99 for ML. Guess they weren't around to pay $129 for Leopard

I will STILL say I think it's gonna be free.

I think so too. Just so Apple can get everyone to upgrade.

I really hope they didn't go the iOS 7 route and made it look just as ugly, otherwise I'll be stuck in 10.8 for good.

I'm not a developer, so I don't know what it'll look like aside from the previews..

It looks exactly the same as Mountain Lion. There are no changes to the interface that anyone would ever notice if you weren't looking for them.

Almost all the changes are "under the covers".

Just finished installation of the Mavericks GM and I am running it now...

Just a note: The installation hung for me at the end for about 10 minutes (first part of install), and I was installing it on an internal SSD so that should not be a problem. It said "Less than one minute remaining" for about 10 minutes, and the bar was complete. Apparently this did not affect the install, I just had to wait longer than a minute (about 10 minutes) until it was finished. So far, no problems, and not many changes to note.
