That new menu is giving hope to Marble. I really hope we see it.

I'd like the customization level of OS 9, although I doubt we'll see that.

I'm tired of the mix of Aqua and newer neutral colors. Just make the highlight in that menu and it'll look perfect. One thing I don't want however, is the flattened scroll bars.
Seriously, what is Marble? Cause I never heard Apple mention anything about Marble being a UI name.

"...white text on a charcoal background"... please make it possible to apply this on a system-wide scale.
I would love a new OS X look.

With these new builds, anyone know if SL will automatically switch/choose between discrete and integrated graphics in the MBPs? Or dare I ask about Hybrid SLI? LOL I hope the new OS atleast can switch without having to log out.

Anyone? :)

I know what they look like, but never knew it was called "Marble." I thought the UI changes in SL was just HUD styles.

Its been referred to as marble for over a year - ever since the first leaked rumours of a new UI coming out in Snow Leopard with grandiose claims that it'll appear at the last minute.

Me too. I switched to Mac at the time of Tiger and I really loved the UI. Heck, I even liked brushed metal :p

Well, you can get Leopard to revert back to the Aqua style of Tiger/Panther. It only changes the CoreUI and windows though.

My experience

I noticed, since the update, that my battery won't charge up to 100% but is stuck at 95% and saying it is "charged"...

I'm also experiencing a lot of beachball issues where my system just hangs for a minute or 2. Tried everything to fix it but haven't found a solution yet...

I really like the new HUD style... Goes well with the new designs of the laptops. Only thing I still don't like about the 3d dock is still present and had been since the release of leopard.

When using the List view... the items in the dock stay magnified when moving the mouse in the menu...

But when using Fan or Grid view... the items in the dock pop back which annoys me a lot. It's just not "beautiful". Especially when you have your items hugely magnified.

Any idea's why they haven't fixed this yet? :)

Whenever someone mentions Marble I think of a UI based off of ths.

How about this? :D LOL

That's normal, if you're battery is at 90% it sometimes won't charge it all the way, but if you've been draining the battery and it won't charge above 95% you should consider re-calibrating your battery.

You can now minimize into the dock icon with the new build. There is a new option in dock preferences that allows you to collapse into the icon like windows 7. No more open window apps on the ride side of the dock.

This was in the last build too. I can't see it being useful since you can't tell whether an app has open windows or not.

I'm not sure about the marble theme either. It looks slick, but also makes OS X less fun to use. It's almost too grey and dead looking.

Can't wait. I'm sure we'll see Marble soon. There's hints of it in the iPhone OS, and Snow Leopard is packing a fair few changes to the GUI.

There's no such thing as a "Marble" theme. It was a baseless rumor. It doesn't even make sense, because marble looks like this.

Seriously, what is Marble? Cause I never heard Apple mention anything about Marble being a UI name.

It was a rumor about a new interface revamp one of the Mac sites posted long ago when we knew little about Snow Leopard, and for some reason, nobody has let go of it.

Superficial

Changes in colors used on icons etc are unimportant at best.
Sounds like mostly very superficial changes...who uses two monitors
anyway? Maybe Day Traders if there are any of those guys anymore.
If start up is not fast enough with 10.5 now, stop drinking so much
coffee.

Opening system preferences items from the context menu in the dock is now possible even when the system preferences isn't started.

I was taught in design 101 never use small white text on a darker background. :)

It may work out just fine but it is like surfing the web and why most sites default to black text on white/off white background vs white on black. Black text is easier to read.

I think it's amazing that speed increases are being reported. The WWDC Developers Build was blazing fast as it was.

One thing I didn't see in any stories were the speed increases in file transfers with the new Finder. File transfer speed to my USB drive doubled. Hard drive to hard drive speed doubled.

Well using that belief, what does 'real' Aqua look like?
And what the hell would Aero be?

Aqua has polished blue controls and translucency effects, so it's somewhat related to its name. Aero Glass tries to look like glass.

The point is that Marble was something that was first mentioned in a baseless rumor long ago, and everyone now attributes any minor visual changes to being "part of Marble." Probably what happened is that someone saw the Quicktime X interface and assumed the whole operating system was going to look like that, and they invented a name out of thin air to feed the rumor sites.

Marble doesn't exist. It's a fan invention.

Just like Leopard was supposedly going to have the 'Illuminous' theme. Which wasn't far away from the truth :p
And I think that started with a rumor too, then a theme was made for ShapeShifter.

It seems like they are slowly throwing marble, assuming it exsists, in there. those new menus look GREAT!

Fantastic! I had always wondered about this behaviour (opening System Prefs to THEN right click to open the one you wanted from the Dock Icon). This is much more intuitive. Bravo Snow Leopard Team!
