I have Leopard, but I'll be buying Snow Leopard for $129 instead of $29 because it's worth way more than that to me, and a healthy markup is what allowed Apple to become what they are, so I will continue to do my part. Thanks for your hard work, Apple. Keep it up.

See, that's your problem. You haven't been a Mac user very long. Anyone coming from Windows XP will think Mac OS X in any form looks good. I came from Mac OS 8.5 all the way till now. Most people who were there since Mac OS X's inception will be tired of aqua by now. I want the entire UI of SL to be rid of aqua. The scroll bars suck, the traffic lights suck and the menu bar and the dock could be the same colorway as the stacks grid menu and new dock contextual menus.

I've been using Macs since 6.0.4 and I'm not tired of Aqua. Probably the thing I'm tired of most is that they hold back feature improvements to their applications between major OS updates. I'd prefer incremental improvements to Finder, Mail, etc. throughout the year rather than just bug fixes.

....Wow.

Why the hell don't you just take that $100 and donate it to charity or something, or buy someone a nice gift, instead of donating it to a corporation that already has an extremely healthy profit margins on all its products? You're certainly a 'special' type of consumer.

Re: Trackpad

No trackpad issues so far, but I've only been running the build for a few hours.

Battery life is also unknown, but the system is a hell of a lot snappier than in the past.

I hate white text on black. Charcoal is slightly better, but not much.

no

That looks great! Classic Apple! Apart from the brushed metal, that gets old.

Definitely mate! Win7 don't even have all features of 10.5 Leopard! They just copied couple of them!

If I gave you a list of charities could you please donate the $100 difference to one of them instead. I beg of you.

dude, that is the biggest crap i've heared for a while! do something usefull instead!!!!!!!!

edit: omg, i re-read it... utter nonsense

With these new builds, anyone know if SL will automatically switch/choose between discrete and integrated graphics in the MBPs? Or dare I ask about Hybrid SLI? LOL I hope the new OS atleast can switch without having to log out.

Anyone? :)

BUMP. C'mon - lets talk about the real meaty stuff, not colors!

Looks like Apple has a winner on their hands. With each beta release Snow Leopard gets closer to a finished state. I look forward to the release version!

Me too. Best $29 I'll ever have spent on an Apple product, methinks.

Safari has also been updated. 4.0.2's user agent specifies: 530.19, while SL's Safari reads: 531.1

so far I am not that impressed with the over-hyped Snow Leopard—no wonder it is less than $30!

WHERE ARE THE MULTIPLE OPTONS FOR FONT SMOOTHING STYLE?

Is Apple NOT going to give us options with Font smoothing as they did with all other versions of OS X? Even Windows gives options for it's version of Font smoothing.

If this is the case, I will not upgrade to SL, even though they are giving this dog away for almost free.

Apple's font smoothing is one of the main reasons keeping me from using windows. MS Windows 7 is not looking so bad now.

Also, the on / off toggle for font smoothing in SL does not look too good. Small fonts in a browser look like crap in SL.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I'm not reading through 4 pages of posts.

Safari has been updated to build 6531.1, from 6531.0 , but it's still Safari 4.0 .

I wonder why they didn't give us safari 4.0.2?

Don

Nice :)

I'll be getting a full retail version too, as not all my Intel Macs came with 10.5
So, 1 "upgrade" and 1 "full".

Yes, no wonder it's $30 dollars. I don't see why your outraged.

Overhyped? There is barely any hype for SL compared to Tiger and Leopard.

You decide which OS you use by which one has better... font smoothing?

Changes in colors used on icons etc are unimportant at best.
Sounds like mostly very superficial changes...who uses two monitors
anyway? Maybe Day Traders if there are any of those guys anymore.
If start up is not fast enough with 10.5 now, stop drinking so much
coffee.
I know a lot of artists, musicians and 3D modellers who use two monitors.. I love having two monitors (imac and a 24" Samsung), it’s a jumble to have any less with a lot of the work I do.. I think you'd be surprised how many people work better like this.

None of these seem like big changes but im glad there's a crawl towards a slightly more modern looking interface.

That's beyond fanboyism. That's like... cult...ism. :p
