Alright, i don't know why I asked this, don't flame me, but WHY DO YOU ALL CARE? It's a minor update. I'm just waiting for 10.2 on my new DG4800....

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand the answer.

Alright i have problems
I installed the update at home first - G4 400 Mhz no problems any where so far, and experience the itunes improvements.

At work I installed - Duel 800 - and now Wolfienstein wont display right.
Works fine at home on the old ATI rage . Sucks on the better Nvidia card geforce 2

Also had a a huge problem where my finder crashed and would not relaunch.
Was about to scan in photoshop thru classi and BAM finder crashed, all classic apps crashed and would not allow me to access anything from OS X

Of course i hard restarted - and back to normal.

Also anybody able to see previews through Illustrator 10 on a shared drive?
I can thru classic but not in 10.
Dont know if thats adobe or apple.
Any suggestions would be nice

the non-full screen itunes visualization is a ton slower. no big deal as i don't often use it but it is nice to show off. i usually use the full screen anyway.

control-clicking in the dock is a bit faster but not enough that i would have noticed had i not been looking for it. not as fast, at least, as putting your hard drive in the apple menu in 9 as i always do.

a complaint about mail: they still don't have a toolbar button for simply creating a new message. i don't use mail anyway cause i just haven't taken the time to transfer to it. but anyway..

Full Screen iTunes

I've got a question for you guys...

I have two monitors and a DP800 with a Twinview card.

My 17" LCD is on the left as my primary monitor, and my 17" VGA is on the right as the secondary. I often have iTunes running on my right monitor and my work on the left.

Before 10.1.3, whenever I would do a full screen visualization, even though iTunes was running on the right monitor, it would do full screen on the left monitor. Now, with 10.1.3 installed, it will do full screen on the right monitor.

My question is, can I set iTunes to run full screen on the right monitor and continue working on the left? Currently when the visualizations are full screen, the other monitor goes black. I haven't seen any settings for this. Also, is it possible to span both monitors (not mirror) with the full screen visualization?

Thanks.

Wha???

How does Mail not have the option to create a new messge???

You click on "Compose" or press Command + N

display washed out?

I just installed it.....I couldn't wait.....

anyway....everything runs fine....iTunes a bit quicker....but has anyone else noticed their display is a bit washed out looking after the update? My calibrated profile is still currently active....maybe it's just my eyes not adjusted from my work display? 😕

Missing Icons...

I've installed the update on a G4/400, Pismo Powerbook, and an iMacDV and everything works great, except for the fact when I want to change an icon. I show info and copy the icon I want then select a folder or volume and show info and paste the new icon, it disappears. Nothin' shows up 'till you restart or use the force quit and relaunch the finder.

Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks guys...

Thanks guys!

Thanks for the Pram answers! Much appreciated... OSx doesn't seem to have the "military time" option as OS9 did... Hence my problem. The clock is in Military time when set to the network server AND normal Pacific north American time... or whatever it's called. So anyway. It must be something super dumb on my part...

Military Time in International System Prefs

I had the same problem on mine. Someone in this forum suggested going to the System Prefs/International and change from 12hour to 24hour.

As mentioned above, check in the International item in the System Preferences... The 12/24 hour clock settings are there.

The Mail toolbar has the 'Compose' item in it. If your's doesn't, then all you need to do is go to the View then Customize Toolbar menu items. It will then open up a window where you can add and remove items from the toolbar. There are many items there that are not part of the normal set. If your's still doesn't show, then consider opening up the Mail window a bit.

DVD on TV

After updating to 10.1.3 I connected my PB G4 to a TV and put in a DVD. I seem to be able to watch the DVD on the PB'S screen only, but not on TV. Every time I tried to synchronize the displays the DVD Player shuts down. Remarkably, I tried the same thing under OS 9 , and IT WORKED! Can anyone help me out with this? I don't want to switch to 9, now!

I've done a little experimentation, and it's not easy, but it is possible to run the DVD player on a TV. I'm watching something right now. Here's what you're dealing with:

1. The DVD Player will not run on a TV in a mirrored configuration. If you turn on mirroring while the DVD Player is running, it shuts down. If you try to start DVD Player with mirroring on, it tells you the configuration is not supported and quits.

2. If you don't have mirroring on, the Viewer window cannot be dragged onto another screen. It bumps into the edge of the screen it launches on and stops.

So it seems like you're stuck. But there's one more hoop to jump through. Quit the DVD player if necessary. Make sure you are NOT mirroring the primary display on the TV. The monitors have to be separate. Open System Preferences, Display pane, Arrange tab. Drag the menu bar from the representation of the LCD screen to the representation of the TV screen. Your TV is now your primary display. If you start the DVD Player now, it will launch on the TV screen, since that's the primary. You can drag the controller window back to the LCD if you like, but the viewer is stuck like before, only now it's on the TV. If you switch the DVD player to fullscreen, it will be fullscreen on the TV.

So. A pretty frustrating process to make this work, but it does (barely). I certainly hope later updates will include further improvements to make this feature suck a little less.

Better Printing in 10.1.3

I just installed the 0S 10.1.3 update. No problems at all with the install, everything works fine. No real noticeable improvements yet except one (and it is a big one for me). I can now print to my Lexmark inkjet printer (piece of junk, but that's what they gave me) from an OS X application while Classic is running. Formerly I had to quit classic in order to print from Mail or Explorer or any other OS X application. As I am still forced to run many apps in Classic (my school won't update Microsoft Office to v.X until this summer), this was really annoying. Thanks to Apple for fixing that bug (and I didn't even have to update the driver software for the printer).

I have a problem with dial up connections! About once in every 10 times I connect to the internet my whole computer gets frozen!!! This is the only time where OSX has ever crashed on my! However, this problem is really annoying me because I have to restart my machine a couple of times each day now.

Also, when coming out of sleep my sound is muted somehow + there is no way to get it back without a restart.

These problems existed in OSX.1.2 as well as OSX.1.3
