One question guys.

If I sign up, will I be able to continue with stable Mavericks releases until I decide to install Yosemite beta (In July or August, for instance)? Will I get accidentally Mavericks beta versions on my MacBook Pro? Can I have Mavericks stable in one mac (without beta updates) and Yosemite beta in other computer?

Thank you a lot :)

The Mavericks betas are a separate program. So if you're not enrolled in that, you should be fine.

You and Me Both!
I got caught up in the excitement as well. Fortunately my system is functional enough for me not to complain too much, but...There are a LOT, and I mean a LOT of bugs to be worked out between Yosemite and IOS8. First off: Neither Handoff, Video Messaging nor Voice Messaging is in working condition at this time. Markup freezes my entire system. Siri's Shazaam adaptation has issues: couldn't recognize some very recent, very popular songs. Re-downloading previous apps is a no-go, they start to download then just go away. Numbers, Keynote, ItunesU and Pages completely crashed after trying to update them and now just sit on the home screen with the developer thumbnail as it's icon. Restoring my device from eariler backup was a no-go, had to set up my phone as a new device. I'm using an iPhone5s, 64 gb, and a macbook pro midsummer 2012(200 GB of free storage, working with 2-8 GB Sticks). I'm assuming there will be massive updates coming over the summer, because as of right now, they are not even close to being ready to make good on their WWDC promises.

Ya agreed are you having issues doing just everyday tasks? I can barely surf the web right now without it freezing. Also, do you have any audio i can't get mine to turn up and when i go to open sound in system prefs it freezes every time and eventually i have to force quit out of it. Also, I'm running it on a 15 inch mac book pro retina display 2012. Is everyone having else having these problems doing just normal tasks? or do I have a bad seed?

LOL, I would sure like to know how Apple stood on the stage for 2 hours demoing iOS8 and Yosemite with Zero hiccups but you're stating you can barely even surf the web. I'm wondering here... June 2014.

Agreed I can barely click on anything without my mac freezing for a minute. that includes the built in Apple apps.

You're agreeing with me about what? I'm a little in disbelief about some of the people saying it's barely working at all. Apple didn't have any issues during the whole two hours of demoing.

This is because Apple has prepared their devices for demo during WWDC. If you recall Jobs and the first iPhone...a very tight order of operations and script had to be followed to avoid crashing the phone during the live demo. It apparently was super super buggy.

oh sorry i read your post wrong but its not odd at all the presentation apple gives is planned out for weeks in advanced there not running the same os as the one that was released to developers. theres no way they would get up on stage without having scripted everything that they were going to need to do and make sure that it would work for the presentation.

Noted, but if you really think about it, it makes no sense for them to release a worse version to the developers. How is that being productive?

It doesn't but when you look at it from apples point of view they have engineers working specifically on the items that apple is going to use during the keynote that way it doesn't look nearly as buggy to the public the version they use for the keynote is definitely customized specifically to apple so that only the features they want to show off work. its probably not a fully working OS it just does the things they need it to do flawlessly for the public.

Legally speaking, I wonder what the theory is behind downloading the beta on a torrent site? I have been a beta tester since the Mavericks 10.9.3 as a NON-Dev. Myself, I signed up (in the afternoon Pacific Time after watching WWDC, but not live) when I realized that I needed to (I think ) sign up for the Yosemite beta specifically, again. So what happens if a person signed up and agrees to the Terms and Conditions, etc., but obtains the copy from a source other than Apple? I suppose the source(s) of the acquisition of the software makes that person(s) who is/are sending it in violation of the non-distribution clause, but what about the receiver? haha...

Secondly, I think Apple did not make it clear enough as to what hoops you needed to jump through, especially for those who had already been signed up to the OS X Beta program for the one Mavericks 10.9.3 build that they offered to every non-dev.

Fix for no audio and random Freezing

Hey guys this is a fix for anyone who has been having issues with their audio not working or their system preferences freezing up. It also has helped speed my system back up and has scaled the random freezing way back. All you need to do is go here /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/HAL/InstantOn.driver and delete that driver folder. I don't know why it is causing so many problems but after deleting that Yosemite is working a million times better

----------

Also deleting that driver has allowed me to use all of my adobe creative cloud products as well as many other 3rd party applications that driver seems to be the source of many problems!

Nope, signed for the seeding program. I might have gotten it early because I was already apart of the Mavericks program.

Who knows, but I am happy. To bad they don't have a program for iOS.

I was also part of the Mavericks program and signed up for the seeding program. No Yosemite just yet.

If you're torrenting, it would be a violation by yourself as it is peer to peer meaning any packets you download are likely to be shared as you download the rest.

Apple didn't have any third party software or apps installed, which are some of the most common sources of issues in early betas.

Users have had a wide variety of experiences, some have had many issues while others have had very few. That's why there's a large pool of beta testers.

Who knows, but I am happy. To bad they don't have a program for iOS.

That would be great but they'd have to come up with a simple way to revert devices to an earlier iOS version. It's not like OSX where you can just switch the computer to a different boot drive.

Simple, they have a more advanced beta then the devs and they demo'd the apps in a way (or order) that would not crash the system.

Example : the original iPhone could not even play a full song in the iPod app without crashing, also the phone would drop signal every couple of minutes so they hardcoded the signal bars to always be full.
They made a special version of the OS that could do the tasks they wanted to show without crashing.

Source : original members of the iPhone team in an interview

Your entire post to me is nothing but anecdotal theories. Rather than writing who the source is please point to that interview so I can hear them say exactly what you said.

Your entire post is nothing but anecdotal theories. Even though to some it makes sense, there's not a stitch of proof to this.

If you say so
I don't want to prove myself right because I know I am so if you wan't proof, please search the interview with the original iPhone / iPhone OS members. They say how Apple does this demos.

:)

Dude, YOU replied ME with that information. You're making statements and don't want to prove them. Instead, you want me to go find info to show proof of YOUR statement. You're thinking is quite flawed.

For people with audio issues on macbooks, mini's, iMac's etc.. this is a know issue, as Apple's currently revamping CoreAudio and it's underlying protocols. Also, if you have apps like Sounflower, Audio Hijacks Instant-On and Boom installed, now would be a good time to de-install them until Yosemite is ready for primetime and these apps have been updated to support it. Also, to you all, there's no sense in bitching about this, IT'S A BETA!

Sorry but that's not what I was asking for. The earlier poster said Apple was quoted as to saying they fully tweak the OS X for the Mac to make the presentation appear perfect. Your article link talks about tweaking the iPhone's signal bars.
I'm not saying it's impossible to believe that they would make sure the OS is running good enough to go through a keynote, I'm saying as I did earlier that I find it hard to believe that Apple would furnish the developers with a crappy copy seeing as the developers have to use to code their apps for Yosemite. Some people here seem to believe that Apple would actually do that and I call BS on that.
So, no proof so far on what they did for the keynote on Monday.
