I'm still having the same issue.

I opened a ticket with Apple, and am on hold with them now. Not sure if I can make this issue bubble up to the right folks at Apple this way, but I'm trying...

Last night it downloaded to 5.07 GB then restarted from 0 so I gave up and went to bed. Trying again today!

I've been trying all morning. So far, no joy. Error after error after error... Really frustrating.

I wonder if I can get the file somewhere else...

same here

Hours later, still no luck. I've spent most of the day trying this on an iMac as well as on a MacBook Air. I'm in Canada. Same issue that seems to be happening everywhere else. No matter how long or short the download lasts it says 5.07g of 5.07 downloaded. 8 mins remaining. and then errors out!

I understand there being issues because it's a beta, but server problems?? that's nothing to do with a beta...

it is driving me nuts

Nothing's changed

Frustrated! waited until the next morning and still the same thing. Do you think its because I have currently installed the latest mavericks seed beta? and that's not supported by the update? if so how do i move back?

I doubt it, but I believe awests is trying to downgrade and re-download now...

Yeah hopefully he has luck because i recently cleared my time machine past a couple weeks ago, not thinking about the mavericks update beta that was put on before that time. My external hard drive was full and wasn't backing up my machine anymore, and i wanted it working before trying yosemite.

I tried googling last night "download yosemite public beta without app store" but had no results. Really frustrating, just want to know how it is and if it's working. Totally fine if the beta itself is too buggy and i have to go back. Download issues are not what I want to be dealing with

I've downgraded from the appleseed once before, but I kinda forget how...

Either way I'm just re-downloading mavericks from the app store, and i'll try and reinstall from there.

Even though the redemption code and download went quite well, I can't say the same for the installation which I did on a 32gig flash drive. Even as the installation said it would take 16 minute, 8 hours later it finished and to my dismay instead of rebooting to my iMac Hd it booted itself to the flash drive and was a total excersize from hell. Thank God for backups. Arrrrrg!!!!!!

Save a copy of the installer

Now that I learned I can't install this on an external drive I want to save the install package on my computer without installing it.

Is there a kind soul out there that can tell me how to do this?

I have the installer app opened but don't want to install, and don't want to quit without saving Yosemite for installation maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

Just quit the installer without running it. The package is in the Applications folder and can be copied to another disk/computer for re-use. I would rename it too.

Huh? I installed it just fine on an external drive. Downloaded on to my internal, started the installation and chose an external drive to install it on.

Mind you, when I was booting back in to my internal drive, it was back on to the installation loop, so I reinstalled Mavericks over the old installation, using the 10.9 recovery partition, and it's been fine since.

can you try photoshop, after effects , if you have them please ?

Just saw this now. Will try shortly.

Possibly a DNS issue?

So... after doing some research I saw that people are having the issue when their DNS is not set to their ISP. Mine was set to use one from unlocator.com

I have switched back to default and currently my download is at 1.67GB of 5.07GB. This is the farthest I've actually seen it go before jumping to the end and failing.

Fingers crossed!

Finally!

After attempting to download 10.10 approximately 80 times, it finally didn't error out and downloaded! I am no installing it on an external drive.

Wish me luck!

It has downloaded and is now installing on my macbook. I'm doing all this remotely from work and have lost connection to my imac, and now have to wait it out until the macbook starts up again, but i dunno... could be coincidence but it does look like the dns was the problem

Hm. I have Comcast and my DNS is set to the Comcast DNS defaults.

Also - I've tried to download with a VPN to Canada, but I can't seem to run the App Store after I've established the VPN. Did that help, awests?

- Thanx

DNS issue

Just thought I’d chime in here. Same issue for me ALL day yesterday. Error after error.

I just changed my open DNS settings back to ISP’s settings per a previous post and … it STILL failed.

UGH , for some reason I was hopeful.

One tell-tale sign was reaching 1.1GB and then revert back to 300MB

*sigh*

Finally after at least 75 tries lol, it downloaded and I installed it. One thing it's very slow, once I click on any icon, it hangs up for at least 30 seconds or more. Once I'm on a webpage on Safari it will hang on again. Takes forever to get around. Glad it's on a flash drive!!

I've been trying to download the beta since yesterday morning and kept getting errors (tried at least 50 or more times). As suggested in that Reddit thread, I tried connecting to somewhere else with my VPN (Canada) and BOOM! Downloaded first try!

Starting the install now on my main machine. Don't worry, I cloned my Mavericks install to an external drive with CCC. If something goes wrong I can boot from the external drive and keep going, and it only takes a couple hours to clone the old machine back.

What VPN service do you use?

Well, that's great news, however I shouldn't have to enlist the services of a VPN to get this download finished! Still trying since 10am yesterday.

Private Internet Access.

I agree, there's definitely a major server issue in the US that needs to be fixed. Just glad I got it downloaded in installed.

Got Yosemite installed, took a really long time. Got stuck on 4 minutes for about an hour. In the installer you can pull up the log and watching it it was things like Matlab, MySQL, and LaTex that took ages to copy.

Two applications wont run out of the box, they are Matlab and VMware Fusion 5. To get them to run you have to run the executables located in "Show Package Contents/Contents/MacOS/". You can just make an alias to the executable.

For Matlab you'll still get a crash. You have to go edit the SystemVersion.plist in System/Library/CoreServices. Change SystemVersion to 10.90 (NOT 10.9).

Never heard of it going to that location.

Sorry, my mistake. I meant the App folder. I didn't get anything in the App store & just went straight to my Apps folder. I was one of those that originally received the "code already redeemed" message. After going back and collecting a new code I was able to download Yosemite without mishap.

You shouldn't be. That's why it's so slow!
