Thanks, that worked. Is there a way I can create a separate partition for Yosemite, but not have what happened happen? I'm not sure why it defaulted to a logical volume group

I think that's what it's doing for everyone, even if it's the main partition (as for me).

Still won't download

Hours later, still no luck. I've spent most of the day trying this on an iMac as well as on a MacBook Air. I'm in Canada. Same issue that seems to be happening everywhere else. No matter how long or short the download lasts it says 5.07g of 5.07 downloaded. 8 mins remaining. and then errors out!

I understand there being issues because it's a beta, but server problems?? that's nothing to do with a beta...

im in the same boat, been trying to download all day

I've actually just encountered the same thing. Installed Yosemite on an external drive. I didn't enable iCloud Drive because I was still running Mavericks and iOS 7, but I did enable iCloud Keychain because I didn't think there would be any problems with it.

I guess I was wrong? Now I can't get iCloud Keychain to work on my iOS 7 iPhone or Mavericks MBP.

If I find a solution, I'll let you know. Please do the same if you find anything.

Just submitted my first feedback report.

Upon booting up/restarting my 2012 MacBook Pro, I noticed that my Mac will occasionally reboot after entering my password at the user login screen instead of loading the desktop. After the random reboot I am asked to enter my password again at the user login screen. Only then does the desktop load and I am able to start using my Mac.

If you need to upload video to YouTube, Facebook.. or post photos to a site, this Yosemite Beta will drive you nuts!

..the application having an issue?
Finder, Mozilla, Firefox and Chrome Browse

What is the nature of the problem with the application?
The application crashes

In a single sentence, the issue is:
crash when finder opens to attach file of photo

Please tell us what you were doing, or what steps we can take to reproduce your issue: When on any website that allows you to upload a file or photo, when the finder window opens and you Scroll Down to find the file to attach, the Finder window closes and then the browser crashes

How often does this problem occur?
It happens every time.

Run disk first aid and allow it to run until it updates the boot parameters on your hard drive.

I ran the disk first aid, and it seems to have said the drives are in working order. But still when I start the mac and hit the option key it doesn't show the Mavericks HD, just the Yosemite HD that I have installed to.

Same here. Been downloading all day practically. I'm stuck at 778 MB and cannot proceed. There doesn't seem to be a way to delete what you have and restart.

If anyone finds a solution, please let us know. It would be appreciated.

Got the email around 5:00pm CDT and started partitioning my HDD after I got home around 6:00 or so. Download and install went very smoothly. I'm now going through the setup process. Can't wait to play with it this weekend!

EDIT: And of course now I'm realizing how silly it was to make two 250gb partitions instead of one 350gb for Mavericks and a 100gb for Yosemite or something like that. Now I only have 7gb free on the Mavericks partition. May have to delete Yosemite and reinstall this weekend :p

EDIT 2: First impression is good. It's a beautiful UI. I do wish that 1Password was working and that Calendar in Today on the NC could be changed to a summary or an event list instead of the whole day.

Even a CDN cannot protect you against one million people in 24 hours.

Try to log in the Appleseed website again if it didn't work for you 1st time around. I did and it gave me a new code. And I was really careful to redeem the new code properly in the App Store and it worked.

How did you stop OS X from installing on the main machine and install in in VM.

I never installed it.. after downloading from the app store, it launches installation, but you can quit (Command+Q) and drag and drop the package into VM and installed from there. (in this case i upgraded VM from 10.9.),but new install will still work fine... Fusion just hasn't added 10.10 to the list yet of support OS's

Alternatively, just download from mac app store from within the VM itself.

Still stops downloading for me. I've tried at least 50 times...tried to get a new code and it won't let me...also followed the instructions to get a new code...nope.
Anybody have any ideas on how to get this fully downlaoded?

Thanks

I'm still having the same issue.

I opened a ticket with Apple, and am on hold with them now. Not sure if I can make this issue bubble up to the right folks at Apple this way, but I'm trying...

Just so others have some hope, mine finally downloaded last night.

I was in the same boat as others here. Kept getting the error. Then at some point it started doing something where the download would re-start halfway through...and then error out again. I probably tried it 15-20 times or so throughout the day.

Then last night around 9:30 pm (PST) it actually downloaded. Took a while (probably about 30-45 minutes), but no goofy restarts or anything.

I hadn't done anything different than I had during the day, it really was a time-of-day or luck-of-the-draw type of thing.
