Installing the "Youtube Center" Safari extension seems to fix it >.>

Get Chrome. Yes, it still uses Flash but it's built in and NOT the plugin that other browsers use. The point is that you can open it, watch the video, and close Chrome right then and there.
That allows you to view content while keeping you other browsers from playing Flash stuff on random pages.
I just played the Cortana video and YouTube videos on Windows 8.1 with Internet Explorer, no problems.this is not an Apple issue. they are implementing new code that is related to the ads that play before videos. they are getting ready for their new feature that allows people to pay to not see ads. obviously they are having issues with it
I know, I just played a video on YouTube, nearly blew my speakers, what a horrible noise, I won't be doing that again for a while. The Black Screen of Death wasn't pretty either.Funny because I just came from YouTube.
Can I sue them? I heard this weird, garble noise that almost blew out my eardrums while my headphones were on full blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It really is sad. I can't think of any other time in Apple history they've had so many issues all at one time. iPhones bending, iPads vibrating, iOS 8.0.1 literally ruining devices, poor wifi issues in Yosemite, a buggy, buggy iOS 8, - the list is endless. It's just sad.
My hunch is Apple isn't going to get the Yosemite OS correct until they release 10.10.7 or so.
I, along with millions of others, will wait patiently on the sidelines, thank you.![]()
Haven't upgraded to Yosemite yet. But ever since Mavericks, many youtube videos display a string of letter AAAA's in place of the video controls and titles. I saw some stuff on forums to fix this, but they didn't work for me. Opened up Chrome just now and it shows the videos just fine. So, Apple, keep breaking Safari. Meanwhile I won't be using it anymore.
Flash YouTube videos plays fine, but HTML5 YouTube videos cause problems. When agent setting in Safari is downgraded to 7.1 (from Default/8.0) HTML5 plays fine. So this is probably YouTube problem because user agent setting can fix it.
Is it called Yosemite because "upgrading" is like jumping into a volcano?
Exactly. And still, even after it has been determined that the issue was on YouTube's end, people are coming into this thread to blame Apple and bring up numerous issues that have nothing to do with this incident.
Just proves that some people really want to dislike Apple at all costs.
How Apple tests updates...
Yup, just adding this problem to my list of other problems with Yosemite
