It's not Apple. It's YouTube, because every other video website works fine for me. so don't be blaming Apple for this one.

Me too

And silly me kept restarting Safari and even the whole computer... Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue...

My I problem with safari is that I can't click on the address bar. Nothing happens. Then it's crashes

So YouTube, owned by Google, just happens to break Safari's compatibility. Switch Safari to ID itself as a different user agent and all is well.

Is this really a mistake on Google's part? They stand to benefit if users conclude that Apple's Safari is crap. If they break it permanently then it's an illegal anticompetitive move, but if they have lots of "bugs" well sorry it's just the nature of programming but if you buy an Android product it will have fewer bugs (wink wink).

YouTube rejects Safari

I just tried viewing a YouTube video using an iMac with OS 7.5 and Safari v 6.1 and nothing plays. I'm a believer. It's on YouTube's end.

well alrighty

i thought i was the only one, good to know i wasn't. I thought something was wrong with my laptop i was about to cry

Change the User Agent in the Developer menu to Safari 7.1 and it works just fine. Makes me a bit suspicious that Google is purposely trying to break YouTube in newer versions of Safari to get people to blame Apple for a bad update and switch to Chrome.

There's always a chance that it could be unintentional, but if so why isn't it fixed by now...

Not so much here

I use Click to Plugin, so it might be why I haven't seen this as much. Maybe a Flash issue? Click to Plugin will block Flash, and force movies to load using HTML5.

Apple is turning into Windows. The end is near.

Apple has been turning into Windows for a while now. It's all about slick looks and Jonny's eye, not so much about functionality, which is one of the foundations behind what made Apple great to begin with.

Sad.

I agree 100% and thank you that worked great

If youtube has a bug, where else would you report it?

I'm having Flash issues on other streaming sites that work fine in all the other browsers.

The length that the Fanboys will go to defend Apple is unbelievable.
I keep getting made fun of, yet other people keep complaining about Yosemite.

In my opinion, if you like how your Mac works now, you can keep your Mac and if you are not looking to spend $1000 or more again, DON'T UPGRADE TO YOSEMITE!

As Steve Jobs famously said, "It's a bag o' hurt."

Yes, since Apple has fixed few of my bug complaints over months of beta testing on my Mac Pro, I'm about ready to just give up and revert.

THANK GOD I KEPT A TOTALLY INTACT PRE-INSTALL DRIVE!

Some videos are working fine, some just give an endless loading circle. This is pretty annoying. Hopefully it get's fixed soon.

Kind of funny since Youtube still works fine on Safari 5.0.6 POWERPC and is still SNAPPIER TOO! LMAO

Seriously, I just checked. no errors there! HAHA!

PS: Youtube does warn you that it's an unsupported browser version, but it still works fine. Go figure.
Safari 5.0.6 though is a ridiculous memory and drive space whore though, but it still works! LMAO

Sound familiar Yosemite fans? :D

Loads fine if you set Safari's user agent to Chrome.

So it's definitely an issue on YouTube's end.

Apple haters...yet they are Apple fans...hmm....obviously you guys know nothing except how to whine

Yep- quite a few users that I see bashing Apple and Apple fans every chance they get are in this thread, and they're still trying to blame Apple for this.

It boggles my mind why some people jump through so many hoops to complain about Apple. If I felt so strongly about a company that I was twisting reality to blame them for petty crap, I wouldn't be religiously posting on a forum dedicated to them. I'd be happily using a competitor's product.

Anybody ever think to 'debunk' the rumour that this was an Apple update problem, to thinking 'Oh... It might be a YouTube problem.' ???

I guess not.
