glad i'm getting a free Bumper out of it considering i'm not having any issues.

Steve Jobs still remains a real a**ho*le tho.

To all the whiners that demanded a free bumper : thanks. Now I can get my money back.

Now go buy a Droidx so you can have something fresh to complain about.

In the original text it says the the "Defective iPhone 4 SHOULD not be sold!". Looks like google translate is not perfect :)

Also the SKS is a non-profit organisation with no legal power. They cannot stop iPhone sales.

Of course not, but the 3 others:Sunrise,Orange and the Swisscom are! And there is a higher one WEKO, and i hope WEKO will not interfere here, cause those 3 others would have to stop selling then. Alltought:There are others will still sell, but not the providers.

Saying that "all smartphones" suffers from antenna issues is a total crutch.

Fact is they may, however they shouldn't. Instead of striving to make a perfect device Apple and almost all other tech companies just try to make something better then the norm. Then giving us reasons to settle, instead of fixing the problem. Not at all happy with todays conference. Still not wanting an iPhone4

Here is why I love Apple ... aapl stock

The way they have handled this whole issue shows what a great company this is. Apple is driven by the pursuit of excellence! :D

I am tired of those who insist on disparaging this great company - they are pathetic, jealous little individuals and or ego maniacs with entitlement mentality.

lol goddamn look who they have Canada grouped with, we should have been in the first 5 :(

Either way can't wait.

True! I remember being sooo mad when I watched the conference and saw that Canada would not be in the first batch!!!! And now im wondering... Will the white iPhone be available on July 30th as well? I hope so!!! I want the white one!!!!
And for the antena issue, I don't care! I wish people would stop talking about it, it's annoying. Anyways, anything that has an apple on it... I buy !! :D:apple:

I think the ultimate fix would be to insulate the antenna, so that it cannot be touched.

If you "insulate" the antennae which basically means covering it, then you won't have the great reception the iPhone 4 has. The reason it has such good reception is BECAUSE the antennae is on the outside and not covered by plastic or other material like in other phones.

Like Jobs said all along, just don't touch that gap and you can have the best of both worlds.

Yes you can do that but why apple didn't just make a small little plastic piece you could add to the side of the phone to stop you touching that area I don't know. It would be cheep and would solve the issue right?

They did. It's called a "bumper."

There are a couple of burning questions I have.

1) Why Sept 30th? If they are not planning on making a hardware change, then the bumpers/cases will still be needed. If this is the only issue with the phone then people will still want to buy it especially if there is a "bandage fix".

2) Do they anticipate a hardware fix or are they working on one that they feel will be ready by Sept 30th? If so, it might be worth waiting for. '

3) Is this problem really so far spread that the phone really isn't as fun to use? Or has the media really ran with this to the extent that people who don't have the iP4 are no longer certain they want one (like me).

4) IF they are planning on making a revision or hardware fix, what harm could it do to tell people that they are planning this. I cannot imagine that they would lose a tonne of revenue and people would praise Apple for taking charge of a flaw and eradicating it.

If you're not sure if you want one, talk to someone who has one in your area and see if they've seen *any* issues at all. If they have had dropped calls, perhaps reconsider your choice of phone, but I know in my experience (UK, O2) there have been no dropped calls and no significant signal deterioration, even when trying to trigger the problem. Extremely happy with the iPhone 4 here on every count, and suspect I'm in the silent majority. YMMV.

I wouldn't attempt to use internet sites to research whether there is a problem though, as people love disparaging stuff anonymously online, even if they have no direct personal experience of it.
