I too noticed this issue.

Anyone think the larger camera opening will make that big a difference?

Yes, it looks to me as if the physical size of the LED flash is larger. I'm willing to bet there's a good chance its brighter, too (LED technology is advancing quite rapidly) so you might need a bigger flash ring to avoid washed out flash photography.

Are any of their cases just pure plastic? I can't stand silicone sticking to my pocket.

You've obviously never had one of their cases. The silicone they use doesn't stick to your pocket and rarely picks up pocket lint.

And brazil5376, check about 3/4 the way down the first page of this thread...he posted the codes for everyone to see.

I remember when the defenders came out last year people were saying the other color of defenders were slightly less "sticky" than the black case. I have the black case, although it does not stick much, it does grab ever so slightly sometimes.

is the other colors claim true or not for people who have felt both ?

Have any of you tried the commuter series for the iphone 4 ? How does that feel ? I feel I may be over protecting my phone and may switch to this to get a smaller case with just about as much protection as a defender.

hmm what to do ... $45 for defender case and holster ... does the iphone 4s come with a dock .. i am guessing with this case it wont work with the dock?

Yeah. I have a Defender case that was bought from Verizon so that's good. I'm just worried about the camera and if it's bigger or not.

I'll use those codes to get a Commuter case if anything for now. I just wanted a case with a belt clip, so I'll have to find a belt clip that works for the Commuter.

I guess we'll all see next week!

I called up Apple and they told me that the camera was the exact same size and iPhone 4 cases should work on the iPhone 4S

Interesting. I wish we could get a solid answer on this b/c the color I want isn't available for the 4S...only for the 4.

No it does not come with a dock. an extra 19$
HA! the iPhone with a freakin bumper will not even fit into the dock

I just ordered an Otterbox Commuter case yesterday for the iPhone 4 (from amazon for $20) and it says it's a universal case for AT&T and Verizon 4 phones. I compared the two and the only difference between the 4 and 4S cases is that camera hole. I don't foresee it being a problem since the camera hasn't changed in size or location, maybe the flash has something to do with it, but I can always return if it necessary. I saved myself $15 and I'm getting the case today in the mail instead of having to wait for Otterbox to ship the 4S cases out. I'll post if it doesn't fit for some reason.

The case I bought:

The only physical difference between the 4 and 4S for cases is that the ring/vibrate switch is in the same position as the Verizon iPhone 4. Personally I have an Otterbox Reflex that I'm using with my GSM iPhone 4 and I'll continue to use it on the 4S

Nope, the camera opening is larger also.

Yeah well... actually needed or a ploy to make more money off a new "redesigned" case, is the real question. I'm going to try my iPhone 4 Defender case and hope there's no difference. I really don't want to spend another 50 bucks to get the same case but have a bigger camera hole.

I was reading and it says that the Otter Box Defender case has been adjusted to fit the 4s Changes. The only actual physical design changes I found from the 4 to the 4s is that the 4s buttons are a little higher compared to the verizon 4. This works out ok because it puts them closer to the AT&T version of the 4 which the Otterbox was originally designed. The only issue I can see is possibly the sensor. I will wait to see how it works out and then decide what I am going to do.

Side note... This is the first actual useful thread I have seen in a while lets keep it up

The iPhone 4S has the same exact back facing camera and flash size as the iPhone 4 so there is no reason to make the cutout larger, they just want to make more money introducing "updated" cases. The key hole cutout was never a good cutout from the start.

I'm new to the iPhone world and have been reading up on the best affordable cases around. Otterbox looks pretty tight, and I'm tempted to try the Commuter. My only concern is the thickness that it will add to the 4S. I'm coming fresh off of playing with a 4g iPod Touch so I'm aware that anything else will be thicker in comparison. But how about it, does the Commuter give the phone a lot more girth?

Also, how does Commuter compare to the Reflex?

(I hope I've contributed well to keep the solid thread rolling :) )
