Otterbox Statement for X? Worth it?

i had this case for the 6plus, the 7 plus and now the X...i got it because of the name, the leather, the protection and because it still shows off the color of the iphone unlike the full leather cases...unfortunately, they didn’t have other solid colors to choose from so i’m rocking the wine color with the silver.

I love it too. I had this phone for my 7+ and I loved it. So on the night that the iPhone X launced it was available on Apple's website and I snapped a black one up very quickly. very pleased with it. It's a great case. Coupled with the glass screen protector or I never had my iPhone 7 Plus break the screen and I dropped it multiple times. I can't recommend this case enough but you can tell I post on this form twice. And it's less bulky to me than it was on my 7+ and I carried Phone in this case for year

Otter box really did a great job.

Feels like a fitting OG Reference case too for 10th anniversary

Never knew they made a nice stylish case that isn’t like defender brick like
 
I picked up one of these today and get my X tomorrow, so haven't been able to try it. I'm just wondering if the lip around the bottom of the screen interferes with the swipe up gesture at all?

Just saw the blue at the Apple store, it’s awesome! They had black in stock but I’ll just order the blue and have it shipped

Yeah the blue rocks!

Not regretting it one bit over black. It looks like a sweet dark blue tire around the front

Assuming the front doesn’t hit rock head on do you think the statement is protective enough to prevent OLED From front shattering?
 
Is anyone using their phone without a screen protector with this case?

For those that are a using a screen protector with this case, which one are you using?

So far I’m using without a screen protector.

Haven’t dropped it yet knock on wood

Ill rule out that one too then (already sorta had, but good to hear direct from someone with a negative experience— cant chance the X or screen lottery)

Love my new blue Statement case but after 24 hours I’m noticing a ton of micro scratches on the back just above the leather area on the clear side. Are you seeing any?

I see some micro scratches looking at it with off lighting but haven’t noticed otherwise

I don’t care if that piece gets scratched to hell personally over time, I’d expect it being clear hard plastic. Hopefully I never drop this phone but if I do that the case takes the hit and not the phone nor front and back

Maybe the Statement veteran whose had a few iterations could chime in more accurately on long term wear tho

I’m still thinking it’s smart to get a tempered glass protector for the front but I’m enjoying raw so much

If I drop this phone without hitting a rock do you think the screen would survive ? On cement ?

That’s a sharp looking case!

I picked an Otterbox Commuter series case from Best Buy today. Price match with amazon and it was a great deal at $25.

Been using Commuter series from Otterbox ever since 2012 and see no reason to change now.

The commuter looks nice but lacking see through for the silver!!

That’s what makes it so nice

It looks nice seeing SG through it too imo

Well mine fell (same case but on the 6s Plus) about 3 feet, landed on it's face, slid across my garage floor and survived with no damage to the phone or case! That's exactly why my X is wearing the same case. :)
 
I saw this at the Apple store, tried it on and hated it. Aside from just being really bulky, the buttons are super hard to push. Not worth it.

By the way, this wouldn't necessarily protect your case any better than the Apple leather case. No case will guarantee that your screen won't crack.

Life isn’t guaranteed but there are things one can do to lessen the chances of an early, preventable, death ;)

No screen protector . . . another thing I like about this case is the raised "lip". I think that is what saved me when it dropped (twice) and landed on it's face. There are times when I want to protect the screen, like putting it in a back pack or similar carrier. For those times I put my iPhone into a sleeve, case and all.

So without screen protector I'll be set unless this hits a corner or rocks or something

I feel better. But otterbox was something I thought would be legit too :D

The reason why I've been reluctant (tried this once) to use a screen protector are my doubts on the adhesive used, and clarity.
 
OMG this case looks perfect! There are no apple stores near me and I never look at cases on the apple site apart from the Apple brand ones so I have never seen this! Ordering this baby today in the wine color, I'll post my thoughts and pics when I get it

It is a bit weighty but if that’s what it takes to not have the back glass shatter for 549 or my front display explode at 279 (but more importantly to re enter panel lottery) so be it!

Maybe when the honey moon phase is over I’ll seek something slimmer for other occasions but I love the protection and see through and leather and rubber lip

Checks a lot more boxes than it doesn’t

Especially for otterbox. Something I usually shy away from
