I fail to see how this is impressive. I'd guess 90% of U.S Personal Computer users are now on Windows. That's fairly impressive.

If the iPhone hits 50%, I'll begin to be impressed.

Android devices are phones. iPhone's are advanced mobile computing devices that happen to have phone functionality.

Enjoy your phone. I will enjoy my advanced computing device.

So you admit the iPhone sucks at making phone calls and the quality generally sucks?

I don't think so.

Android's growth is being driven by the race to the bottom: inexpensive phones in southeast Asia is driving the record number of Android handset activations.

The low-end Android users aren't really using the devices as smartphones, but more like touchscreen feature phones. They call, text, e-mail, look at the occasional web page, maybe use Facebook/whatever, take the odd snapshot, but aren't downloading and using apps.

Oh - you meant the same usage pattern as 99% of the iOS crowd uses their phone?

Or do you really count in stupid time killers like Plants vs Zombies or Angry Birds as "Apps"?

Sorry - but the arrogant snobbery of your post is just that little bit too much when reading on these forums.

And iPhone was the only one with an increase for the first chart. The rest were either the same or worse. If Apple can lower the price a bit, it would take it to another level.

Apparently you don't know that Apple DID just lower the price of ithe iPhone 4 (The world's most popular phone) to $100 with contract, and you can have a new 3GS free on contract. The iPhone 4 is selling like hotcakes!

I must run in a crazy circle but no joke, 3/4 people I interact with tend to have iphones

On the contrary, you hang out with intelligent people. Three-fourths are smart and the other quarter are hanger-ons. ;)

It's not for everyone. Nor do I want to take tech support calls from my mom, my grandmother and my less than brilliant brother. Not to mention, some people just don't need and/or want the power and technology.

Utopia is free beer anyway. ;)

Your brother is a good candidate for a land line and what's the problem with free beer? :D

I don't think so.

Exactly! Very well put.

According to recent surveys Android users generally can't figure out how to get on-line. An interesting stat since Google was counting on the Android phone helping their search revenue.

Ten percent of US mobile phone users, plus all those on iPads and iTouches, makes iMessage a really viable messaging platform and will hopefully save people money on SMSs in the long run. Unfortunately, going through my address book, far fewer than 10% of individuals have registered with iMessage, I wonder what percentage of the 10% is on iOS 5.

There was a time over 100 years ago when buying a home or business phone was questionable since hardly anyone had them too...it was like the ghostbusters song, "Who you gonna call?"

The problem you bring us will go away as tens-of-millions of new iMessage people will join you each year.

27% of the market using a highly consistent, well integrated and matured product economy (iPhone) beats 44% of a fractured and inconsistently integrated multi-vendor product line (Android) any day.

Very well phrased, and it will only get worse in the Android snake pit as time goes on.

This means that 1 out of 10 people are more likely to visit this site. It also means that 1 out of 10 people are potentially people who will slam the other 9 out of 10 for not owning one.

According to a story I pull out of thin air I guess you never ever really saw an Android device in action. Because basically if you put out these blunt claims you either:

a) link to that specific survey of yours

b) **** if you have no clue

I find it pretty damn hard to believe that you suggest "Android users can't figure out" how to touch a button on the main screen labeled "INTERNET" let alone use the Google search widget that is preinstalled on top of every theme I have seen.

And while we're at it. How do you get on-line with your iPhone? What are the specific measures you have to do?

Wait - pop in a SIM-card, hit Safari, be done

Yeah. I see your point. Android users are too dumb to
pop in a SIM-card, hit INTERNET, be done

Sure.

No, it makes my phone better than someone else's phone. Please don't make up fake conclusions to insult people.

I'm not insulting you at all. I asked a legitimate question. By your answer you feel better that your phone is better than someone who doesn't have an iPhone.
Explain how my conclusion is fake.

Oh, that's a shame. At the last shareholders meeting, Apple's executive team said everything they've done so far was meant to impress roadbloc on Macrumors.

Now go back to picking lint out of your belly button... :)

It doesn't really matter as long as there are so many lemmings in the world.

It's a well-known fact that half the populations is below average intelligence, so they can't recognize a better thing when it comes along and will buy whatever the other lemmings buy. :D

Calling iPhone users lemmings won't go over well here.

This made me lol. One phone commands 10% of all mobile users in the US and roadbloc is not impressed. Apple may have to rethink its strategy.

This is what you said originally

This is the proof you offered:

All that article said was that iOS users "drive more internet traffic" than users of Android. It went on to say that there's more WiFi traffic for iOS devices than Android devices and, conversely, there's more traffic on "mobile network access" (i.e. 3G/data plans) for Android devices than there is for iOS devices.

How did you interpret it to mean Android users have trouble connecting to the internet? And how did one article about one report from one company turn into "recent surveys" in your mind?

Given your inability to understand what you read, and your comments that relate intelligence with the ability to afford an iPhone, I'd say you should refrain from making any more comments that make you seem like a complete idiot. ;)

You guys DID forget that in one of Steve's interviews he says by his analysis that people use apps for information/purchases more than the browser when using the iPhone.

I don't think so.

Latest news is that the Android phones are costing the telcos BILLIONS in repairs and replacements. That ought to take some of the air out of them pimping out the cheap phones pretty soon. Sames articles mention the reliability and quality of the Apple iPhone. Let's see what happens when this after-sales expense begins to affect the two-for-one sales fever. :)

Source? Won't hold my breath.

You're not impressed by the fact that a single type of smartphone has 10% of the US market of ALL MOBILE PHONES (not just smartphones)? Are you equally unimpressed that that 10% pulls in over half of the profit from the mobile sector's devices? As I said in another thread, I'd much rather have a 6 inch stack of solid gold bars than a 3-foot high stack of pennies.

They also half the storage from 16GB to 8GB hence it is a huge part of the lower price.

And all this time I thought that the carrier subsidized the price of the phone, not Apple.

Jeez, I HAVE to look everything up for you Android users! Read it and weep:

http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2011/11/android-repairs-costly/

By none other then WIRED magazine...and they called Android phone makers, "bottom feeders," <snark snark>

I fail to follow....

More people buy Android phones.... aren't they the lemmings?

Looking forward to how the fanboys...

Looking forward to a day when someone no longer thinks that the use of this lame term 'fanboy' actually helps them to make their point.

----------

And yet none of my friends have an iPhone. Hrm.

I'm quite content with my phone. Love hardware keyboards :D

Apparently you don't have 10 friends.

Get it? 10% 1 in 10, see how I did that?

No need for honey - my iPhone using slave licks it every once in a while :p

And I yet fail to see why you extrapolate this article to "Android users have trouble going online". Nope - Android users just use more 3G data than WiFi. May be due to the fact that they actually use their device outside, when there is no free WiFi available while iOS-Users just surf at home.

No, I got it, this article proves, that Android users can really opt out of sniffing their mobile usage by Google while Apple heavily uses mobile data to get location profiles without the user knowing.

See - now I used that article to pull out stuff from thin air too.

It doesn't really matter as long as there are so many lemmings in the world.

Can't figure out if you describe iFlock or Fandroids. I guess your statement was directed at fandroids but seeing the RDF growing even stronger after Steve's death (hint: "There is no battery issue!" "Just isolated problems of a vocal minority!") I dare to say that the iFlock will buy each and every iteration of iToys when they are new and *shiny*. With every upgrade the old one just doesn't fell *magical* anymore.
