Agreed. I definitely am not one and that’s ok.For some people it may be worth the 50% discount.

I don't think you understand how this works. It isn't ON TOP of Apple Music, it's essentially a lower tier of Apple Music, a "gateway drug", or a service that's ideal to go along with one of those new colored HomePod minis, for someone who just wants to put a HomePod mini in their kitchen/whatever and tell it to play music. But, hey, great reason to get outraged. This service is absolutely ridiculous. This could have been a value added function of AM, that many of us would not use, but charging 5usd ON TOP of AM… wow. Ridiculous. Surely some people will pay, so good for Apple, but a joke to us…
The suggestion I heard is that it's positioned to compete with music subscriptions on other smart speakers - for instance, Amazon has a $4 plan if you just want to use their music service on an Echo. The voice plan is clearly directed toward Spotify users who want to be able to play music from their HomePods more easily, which is why it was announced right next to the HomePod segment this week. It's a way to incentivize people away from Spotify and back into the Apple ecosystem. Don't understand the people who are criticizing this plan so negatively.
What a coincidence that it was announced right alongside new (colors of) HomePod minis. You don't think that was intentional, do you? A few months before Christmas? This seems good for someone who only has a HomePod. But extremely weird for them if they have anything with a UI.
By listing how it incentivizes a specific segment of a consumer base away from another service? That’s not a negative description. You just described it negatively.
Totally agree. Although my guess is:Why is Singapore not on the list of launch countries? Used to be a priority market for Apple...
Typical Monday morning at your house?
Truth. I've tried a few Apple Music trials, no matter what artist, genre I pick...usually classic rock, rock. Artists from the 60s-90s...maybe a few from 00s. Drake appears & always "recommended for me," under the "For You" tab.Is there a 'stop recommending Drake to me' option available?
Spotifys algorithm has been pathetic for me. Never managed to properly gauge my interests and seems to have a fantasy with Drake and Podcasts that I don’t care about.Spotify is still superior to Apple Music in nearly every way. The AI algorithms that choose the music on Spotify are light years ahead of what Apple is capable of or has invested in.
I’ve even did the “recommend this less” thing, and it just will not take a hint. I thought Apple was into machine learning?Truth. Fine, I know may are fans...I'm not!

"Typical Monday morning at your house?"
No! I don't own a pool or even tattoos.
When music or moves launch in some you tries and not in others, the reason is often something to do with per-country licensing rights for the media - different company or companies in charge of that area and have differing terms in their existing contracts, or someone believes the new variant of the service isn’t covered under the existing contracts and wants to renegotiate. Sure, could be unrelated, something to do with Siri or some such, but in general. Look at licensing. Why is Singapore not on the list of launch countries? Used to be a priority market for Apple...
Songza was amazing! You probably already know this, but it was bought by Google, then the playlists were merged with Google Play Music. Now that Google Music is Youtube Music, some of those playlists actually live on there ?Being able to build a playlist based on mood was my favorite part of a now defunct app called Songza. It was surprisingly accurate and introduced me to several songs I never would have guessed I'd like. I miss that app.
Not in my options…
Welp. You're stuck listening to one of the most popular artists for the past decade. Not in my options…
Yep, you are correct. The problem is that I have a Home Pod, an Apple TV and an Airplay 2 Capable Stereo system all in the same room so saying play in *room* won't give me good results. I suppose I could create rooms for each device, but that seems silly. I can tell the Home Pod to play music on the stereo (Hey Siri, play *playist* on Stereo). I have a homepod in a bedroom that should be playing at the same time and if I say "Hey Siri, play *playlist* on Stereo and in master bedroom" it plays on the stereo but not in the bedroom. This works now? We do this all the time, and I just tested it again to be extra sure: "Hey Siri, play coffeehouse jazz in the kitchen." Totally works. Oh, but I did have to set up rooms in Home and assign speakers. Have you done that?
