What a load of bs, apple knew all along demand would be this high, if not higher. They can not deliver to the international market because they haven't made enough, and they either knew all along this would happen, or something has gone wrong to reduce/delay production.

No matter, I'm waiting for the pocket sized 6" iPad nano :p

Yeah. I could knock down your guys' strawmen's arguments all day. Hey, very few people inside (this,) the bubble will tell you what you need to hear. That's why CNet and ArsTech will give you the REAL scoops (the pros and cons) and not AppleInsider and Wired.com, the stealth Apple shill. Might as well rename that obvious kickbacks-taking site "Wired-4-Apple". The fact that they publish an online article saying "Why you NEED a tablet" and only mention the iPad as the only viable option out there says you you're only tightening the blinders on the horse with that poorly-written hack site.

So what you're saying is that some media outlets are biased? Oh my! But I always believe what they tell me! Does this mean Fox News and MSNBC have their own axes to grind instead of giving the news as it is?

Dude, it's the game. Outlets that bash a manufacturer's products aren't going to be very high on the demo hand-out list, are they? Christ, Walt Mossberg only gets as much Apple gear to review as he does because he's a suck-up. They want to review the gear and to get that opportunity, they have to please those above them. If they don't get dibs on review models, they don't get traffic. No traffic means no revenue. Wake up to reality.

My point being-- you guys think "OH, [x], [y] and [z], we don't REALLY need that!" when the competition already does and once "Saint" Steve throws you guys a bone by getting around to doing it, you kiss his.... uh, feet, and don't want it thrown it in your face, it only took you BLANK number of years.

Quite a world you guys live in. ;)

It's not quite that black and white, mate. Personally, I find that whilst I could get more cutting-edge and cheaper devices from alternate vendors, they lack the polish, finesse and support I have received from Apple in the past. I don't want to waste my life on lengthy RMA procedures sending devices to Taiwan, which is half the world away, when I can drop by my local store and have any problems sorted in a fraction of the time. It's all very well having an all-singing, all-dancing piece of kit, but if it doesn't work in a way that is slick, quick and intuitive, I'm not inclined to bother with it. Ultimately, the money I could save on alternatives will be spent further down the line when a problem arises. In my personal experience, it's false economy.

But that's just my reasoning and it makes perfect sense to me.

I ordered mine online, and a friend is bringing it down to Costa Rica on the 22nd! Can't wait! Even if the iPad made it to the Apple Store here they would charge $800 for the 16gb model :apple:

Biased by years of struggling against Microcrap. Oh, and I tried Windows 7, works better than Vista but hey - Mac OS is just way better.

About the black market, here's an idea: Steve himself sells Pads on eBay and makes a good profit. Here's why he re-scheduled the european launch.

sorry you struggled with windows...i have had no problems with it (and neither have millions of other people and businesses). maybe you should take some classes on windows or something.

mac os is better? by your own opinion (and mine as well...i love os x). but i'm not going to say windows is crap...because it's not.

Meanwhile the iPhone isn't the #1 global smart phone and you we're into our 3rd DECADE with Mac OS only getting a piddly 10% of the market share while Windows 7 is already AT 10% levels and climbing! HA! :D

OSX share is about 5.33%, Win7 10.23%, Ipad around 0.04%.

Then I hope the International release is of iPads which have the wifi issues resolved.
Or, the competitors, Google, HP, Microsoft Courier release their tablets internationally before Apple and take a huge chunk of what should have been Apple's market.
Pissed off!

Actually, knowing sue-happy Apple, I wouldn't be surprised if they flexed their team of a gazillion corporate law robot lawyers and make Google, HP and Microsoft intentionally cripple their wi-fi models at release so they're on-par with what Apple has had happen to them. Since it'd be unfair to Apple for them having an advantage.

You know, so long as it's fair to to Apple...

The 21st Century. How soon into the start of that was copy-and-paste and multitasking firt introduced on the iPhone?

You have no clue what I think or believe, so nice stereotyping there. As for CNet, they are biased against Apple, so you read your slanted stuff, and we'll read our slanted stuff.

But I use a PC at work, so I know very well what the other side has to offer. And I used to program for PCs, so I know these devices inside and out. I chose something I like better.

Revolution processing

By the looks of the top 10 apps list, loads of early adopters are using this as a netpad. Apple needs to refine the OS specifically for the iPad and include a filesystem and network sharing. :)

Don't forget Japan, which I think is Apple's largest market after the USA?

Indeed! I can hear the wailing throughout Tokyo tonight...

Ah, that was me howling at the moon, nothing to do with the iPad delay...

On a more positive note, as many have asked, will the delay mean that 3G models will be available in 'international markets' at launch? Not sure if I need another data plan, as I have an iPhone, but I know quite a few people (some with iPhones, many who don't have one) who will buy the 3G here in Japan.

The wait will slowly kill me (figuratively, that is)

I had to chuckle at this post. Ah Brucey, remember, Apple is one of the last to the market with a Tablet and has been the only company with a product causing this much of a stir and selling out. No other Tablet has excited anyone. If those companies couldn't sell a Tablet before Apple then Apple is in the "Not to Worry" category in terms of losing business. :D

Not that I am the expert on these things, but I do not consider the iPad a 'tablet' in the same sense as some of the previous 'swivel screen' laptops with full laptop capabilities - I really think the iPad is in a category of it's own.

That's a lot of suckers. And even more *projected* suckers by the end of this year, and triple that number of suckers projected in two years. We'll be getting into an astronomical amount of suckers, who apparently never learn, because many more will keep buying them.

Adobe is apparently taking Apple and its suckers very, very seriously, however, as are all the other manufacturers desperately trying to copy the iPad, which Apple happens to be selling to suckers.

You asked a question I gave you a reply. Simples.

500,000 people out of a population of 300M doesn't seem like enough suckers TBH. And of course a lot of those people are buying to sell overseas on eBay so that expands the potential sucker market considerably.

And what is it with your obsession with Adobe. Were you attacked by Photoshop as a child?

Then let's hold Apple accountable where it counts. Total control and greed, hence still having to use iTunes to buy your HD media to fill their silk-lined pockets by still denying -- hey, let's call it what it really is: Punishing -- users a Blu-ray on their MacBook Pro.

What are you talking about. Just go buy your HD media from any of the other online media stores. Oh wait, there aren't any? That's hardly Apple's fault. Apple isn't punishing anyone - they don't feel it's worth it to provide Blu-ray. They're in a much better position to make that decision than you are. Unless of course you work for Apple as a market researcher.

If you absolutely need Blu-ray, then go buy a Sony. If Blu-ray is as important as you think it is, then Apple will change their tune based on the mass defects to another brand. Most people I know don't even have Blu-ray in their homes, let alone on their computer. Until I hear someone who isn't a computer forum geek demand Blu-ray on their laptop, I just can't buy into it being a necessity.

  • Apple doesn't whore out its operating system to any and all hardware makers. Apple does not license OS X universally. There's also a $1000 entry fee into the Mac market, while Windows runs on even the cheapest, lousiest netbooks.
  • The iPhone is not the #1 global smartphone but it's the #1 phone to beat (and copy.) It's at around 17% worldwide and 25% US (within a span of less than three years) and has managed to completely reshape the market almost overnight. The App Store, however, is #1, and immensely popular. 50% of all mobile web browsing is done by an Apple iDevice.

It's amazing that even in areas where Apple isn't leading they're the acknowledged innovator. Apple sneezes, the industry grabs a Kleenex.

How many iPods were sold their first week of availability in October 2001?

How many iPhones were sold their first week of availability in June 2007?

Tablet computers have been on the market for a decade with Microsoft software. How many sold last week?

Well I think it is quite thoughtful of Apple to iron out the manufacturing flaws within the US market, before selling to the rest of the world.

When we get our hands on an iPad, it is much more likely to work as it is supposed too!:p

Serious props to this Calebx guy. He's about as unhinged as any Apple hater this forum has seen. Seriously, what is it with these people who register just to go off on unsolicited tangents about products they apparently have no interest in? I honestly think these people have significant mental problems.

The better the iPad does, the more loudly the trolls will scream.
