Not true. Some, not all 343s have issues. Mine is rock solid. No problems at all.
Your OWC Mercury Extreme Pro SSD is shipping back w/ firmware version 310 installed, which is currently the latest version.
Hi
Well basically i have a macbook pro 2010 model 2.66 ghz i7 core 4gb ram and have installed vista with bootcamp. I have then spent a good 3 hours messing about with drives from the internet trying to get my wireless to work. it just wont even search for wireless connections.
In device manager it dosent even list an network adapter. I also use 32 bit vista w/e that means.
and no i dont have my installtion cds that came with it but im pretty sure the internet will provide.
I really need some help with this!!!!
Thanks
HOWEVER, if you have recently installed an OWC SSD with FW 343, I had exactly the same problem....the wireless connection would drop and the pulldown would show no wireless card installed.
If this is the case, remove the SSD and have it downgraded to FW 310 on an RMA. I have not had the problem since the downgrade.
Yes, they should.I ordered my OWC 120GB SSD on sunday. Hopefully the one I get doesn't have the 343 firmware.
Are the Terminal fixes that were listed in post #106 likely to fix any issues should they arise?
Firmware version 310 is not the latest and our drives are not shipping w/ 310 installed, version 343A13f0 is the latest. We are currently working on an update, which should be ready w/ in 1-2 months.
Latest from OWC Customer Support (I asked if they were still shipping 343 and when we could expect an update):
Differences in opinion will remain, but here's my advice:
For the Data Doubler, I found no difference installing the SSD in the main or Opti bay. I recommend leaving the HD alone and mounting the SSD in the Opti bay. Problems are not dependent on position and it's fewer screws/connections to contend with.
I used CCC to clone the HD to the SSD in an external dock. Installed it, then changed the Startup Disk to the SSD. CCC clone could also be done after install.
Sleep state recommendations may help, but it didn't help me. Only a downgrade to FW 310 helped me. Since the downgrade, sleep state settings are not a factor (I have not tested Hibernate, though).
And I agree that SSD FW impacting the Airport wireless adapter "makes no sense", but it happened....several times. And I did plenty of installing/un-installing to verify the SSD as the cause because I couldn't believe it, either. That was the event that put it back in the box for a downgrade. Perhaps the recent network list or other settings were stored on the SSD and could not be properly retrieved. Don't know, but it works with FW 310.
Right, but you also need to delete the sleep image. The good thing about setting the hibernatemode to 0 is you save your ram size off your ssd.
Right, but you also need to delete the sleep image.
It wont work without superuser privileges.rm /var/vm/sleepimage
May or may not require sudo, dont remember.
sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage
Are any 2011 MBP owners having issues with these drives?
