Sorry but if you need 16GB of RAM in the first place then why would you be using a Mac Mini? If you have a $1400 RAM budget then you seem much more like a Mac Pro candidate.

Besides.. 8GB is only $80. Anyone using a Mac mini should never need more than 8GB.

In $US.

16GB Ram Mac Mini at it's cheapest is
$599 (Mini) + $1400 (Ram) = $1999

16GB Ram for iMac also through OWC (to keep a similar comparison)
($41.99 each 4GB stick)
$1699 (low end 27 iMac) + $167.96 (Ram) = $1866.96

So why would a Mini with 16GB Ram at these prices be any good?

Just buy a couple standard config minis and cluster them together. Then you may have your supercomputer (plus, a few stacked up mac minis will still take up a smaller footprint than, say, a Mac Pro..)

I had a problem with a trade-in upgrade from OWC that was never resolved to my satisfaction. Apparently if you don't send your ram to them in some special way they will "lose" it. And then you don't get your refund. Nice. That was my experience.

Wow! But like all things tech. The price will fall like everything else

Im happy with 8 for now

Edit: wtf ?... Those pics are ... Wtf?!.!.?

Really Expensive. Heck, so expensive that you could buy 64GB ECC RAM (8x8) for $200 less for the Mac Pro. :D

Only apple would think this was a good price, they hike up prices to see what Mac nerds will pay and unfortunately for us they do pay, which is why you can buy 100gig of PC ram for that price.

For the price of a MacMini + 16Gb you can build one hell of a HackingT0sh.

Mighty expensive. But I remember paying $480 for 16MB of RAM for my old LC III back in the day...

If you are doing something that requires 16GB of ram, you should not have purchased a computer with the word "mini" in the name...

And probably a better brand than OWC too.
Why do you keep posting utter drivel in this thread?

OWC is a FANTASTIC brand. They make top-notch products and have impeccable customer support. Their SSDs are widely considered one of the best on the market (some would say THE best), and their Mercury enclosures are the only ones that exist, as far as I'm concerned.

The Mini uses laptop memory (SO-DIMMs). OWC's price isn't that far off what it would cost you from Amazon or Newegg, and OWC is promising that it will work.

I'm trying to find actual 8GB SO-DIMMS that aren't listed as a pair of 4GB modules. Not having a ton of luck. Seems OWC wants to be the first to market on this, even if it is priced outside most people's reach?

I can fit a 27" iMac under my TV :D

Hmm... Let's see. 8GBs for $80... or for 17.5x that price I can get 16GBs for $1400 bucks... So hard to decide here.
