I use an app. It's called mail.app. FedEx, USPS, and UPS email me directly when a package is coming to my house.

Many people find email confusiing and hard to use. No kidding. Likely none of those people are reading this here (on a Mac rumors site) but you'd be surprized.

The better questio to ask is "Why are these so many little apps like this when the same funtion could be done on a web page?" The answer is easy -- No one will pay for web pages, apps exist so the author can collect money.

Well, this is sad. I've used their apps for over a decade. I hate seeing things go to subscription model. Death by a thousand cuts. Also:

the current price of $4.99 for the iOS app and $4.99 for the Mac app is a lot to ask

I can't believe this is where we're at. $5 is CHEAP compared to a lot of software from the 90s and 00s. Not to mention people spend more than that on their coffee or cocktail.

Edit: I do realize that the same $5 could apply for the yearly cost . . . I guess I just fail to see for my case the need to pay yearly for something I don't use on a daily basis. If I did, I could justify that.

What a greedy move. I bought this app in 2018 and as soon as I bought it, I was already a bit underwhelmed. It was a bit pricey compared to most package tracking apps but I figured the $5 cost meant it was way better than anything else.

Immediately after buying it, I noticed its support for couriers was quite limited, particularly with shipments from sites like eBay or Aliexpress. That was quite disappointing.

On top of this, the fact that it's been over a year since iOS 13 came out and dark mode is only being introduced now.

What a sad money grab. Will definitely be looking for alternatives now.

I use to use this app. I purchased it with an old Apple ID and didn’t feel like dealing with upgrade pw prompts so I just ditched it for something else free.

can’t imagine many wanting to pay for this.

Junecloud Sync and the ability to forward your e-mails to them to import tracking numbers from those e-mails (which is a feature of Junecloud Sync).

So basically the app would loose the sync between my computer, phone, and iPad.

I bought both apps, because of the feature of it being able to sync.

Nothing. Always used Shop.app, which is free and hasn't limited me on number of trackings yet. You can add manually or if it sees an order or tracking on a screen, it grabs it. And it will send me notifications even when the app is closed which even beat the actual delivery services' notifications.
I'm thinking Shop.app may be one of the services (there's several) that give free package tracking, but what they're really doing is tracking what you buy, as information to be sold. I've got the UPS and FedEx apps, and I've never had a problem with them not notifying me - they don't have to poll, they're getting push notifications from the service

I feel like unless you’re a business or have extenuating circumstances, subscribing to a package tracking app is probably an indicator you’re buying too much stuff online.

People get bent out of shape about Apple charging 30%, but the real problem is developers who sell you something for a fixed price, then change their mind and want more money to continue using what you paid for.

STUNNED and LAUGHING
I‘m commenting and it will land on the 7th page of comments. I’m surprised by the number of comments, but even more surprised and the folks eager to say ”OK! - great app, love it, can’t live without”. Pathetic.

An App like this shouts of the mass consumerism, only exacerbated by COVID. But really Folks if your expecting this many packages a day or a week, well, I guess you can justify the app pricing model.

But this data is free. The app is marginal at best and rarely updated–epecially with features.
The subscription model is valid but not on EVERY app developer that wants to have a steady stream of income from the masses. This is pathetic.
I can think of so many other things that are worth $5 a year than this app.
I was embarrassed paying $4.99 one-time fee. A PROMISE NOW BROKEN.

The app doesn’t support foreign delivery that well because DHL worldwide doesn’t post the data well. Amazon (TBA packages are a pain enter — this app makes it a 2-3 step process. USPS ... don’t get me started how useless tracking those are.

So really, All you need is UPS and FEDEx.

Finally, $5/year isn’t going to support development. This is stupid money grab.

Question. Will the "email forward" be an IFTTT kind of a thing or would they want access to email account like Shop

So basically the app would loose the sync between my computer, phone, and iPad.

I bought both apps, because of the feature of it being able to sync.

My info syncs across iPad, iPhone, & iMac using iCloud. Just remember to set ALL apps preferences, iOS and MacOS, to use iCloud. There were syncing issues with iCloud for a time, but those seem to have been addressed and resolved.

That said, I have no reason to “upgrade” to a $4.99/year subscription model.

Had you asked me 12 months ago I would have supported JuneCloud with money.

But severe lack of updates and enhancements for the last 5-6 years on the Delivery App made me change recently to something else that actually for the most part work much better.

So sorry JuneCloud - I will not be a subscriber unless you seriously put some effort into your software.

Time to find a new app to use.

Slice does the same sort of thing and is free. People get upset because Slice uses the data from your package deliveries to figure out things like what products are being bought where, but I don't care if their databases know that I occasionally buy things from Amazon.

I tried Deliveries about two years ago, and, honestly, was not impressed. It looks prettier than Slice, but it just never worked as well. Slice gets everything automatically from my emails; Deliveries I found I had to enter almost every package by hand, at which point "what exactly did I pay you for"?

JuneCloud is officially DEAD to me. This move is another disgusting money grab by developers who choose to shake down their customer base as opposed to developing a product/upgrade worthy of outright purchase.

I’ve used this app for years but there’s no way I’m paying for a subscription. Good riddance, the app was crap anyways. Never pushed out notifications on time. The apps from Fedex, UPS and Amazon are pretty much all I need.

The Parcel app is $3.00 a year.
