So are people just waiting for the Sonoma update and/or creating new user admin accounts? Or has anyone found another solution?
If you do that, do you then just wipe the original admin account or do you remove as much data as you can from it and leave it dormant? As it was the original 'top level' admin account, does is need to be kept on the machine? I'm tempted to do a clean install as I have very fast FTTP broadband and it would take less than a day to get everything back onto it from iCloud and the third party audio plug-in presets and sound libraries I use with Logic. And most of that would take care of itself without me having to sit there to manage the downloads. And if you create a new admin account or do a clean install, do all your Time Machine back-ups become useless, as theyre no longer the history of the new account?I was tired of waiting. So I created a new Admin user account transferred all my stuff. It was PITA to do but now it's been 2 days and everything is working perfectly![]()
Good news! Keep fingers crossed!Looks like we are getting MacOS updates next week, so will give the Sonoma one a try and then go for a clean install if that does not fix it.
I Just made a new admin account and once everything was transferred through a shared folder, I deleted the old one. As for Time Machine I don't use it but obviously that could be a problem unless you use the migration assistant but then the"recent doc" problem might reappear. I sure hope the new update will deal with this problem but I just couldn't wait.If you do that, do you then just wipe the original admin account or do you remove as much data as you can from it and leave it dormant? Yes, I immediatelt emailed my dedicated support contact, so will see if he responds today. If this goes beyong the weekend, I think I will just do a clean install. Something about setting up a second user account make me nervous.Same here ... Indeed very disappointing ...Can you contact Apple again and ask what happened to the fix?
They're completely ignoring me at the moment, so I have chased again.Ok let us know if you get any response... Tell them I see a lot of messages concerning com.apple.scopedbookmarksagent.xpc in the launchd.log in the Console, when Logic is hanging while opening a file/project
Fair enough. But if it's on iCloud, and probably on your iPhone, iPad or whatever else you have from Apple, it's probably low-risk that you woudn't be able to get everything back. Another person on that thread has also just tried it and confirmed it workss, so I feel comfortable risking it when I next have a couple of hours to spare. This is the article from LogicProHelp that Rob mentioned:

In this article one user mentions: "... Would assume there is a 14.7.3 in the works containing all the non-security related fixes as have hear in multiple places they are working on fixes causes by 14.7.1 not just for Logic but a number of other unrelated applications have been impacted as well."
I also don't want to mess with keychain - I have lots of notes & passwords stored over the years ...
Come on Apple, give us a fix for Christmas!
I'm afraid I don't know. Sounds sensible though.I checked in my keychain and I have some secure notes in there which are not in the iCloud passwords so I guess I would have to to back these up ...
So what exactly gets messed up from doing this….?I can confirm I have reset the keychain as per the above instructions and everything now seems to be back to normal.
Sorry for the slow respnse. I think so. But I'm no expert on keychains. But if you stop syncing your keychain with iCloud before resetting it, and then turn the sync back on again, all your passwords should return. I haven't had to re-enter webite passwords or serial number for apps etc. so far, so i'm guessing everything in your keychain is backed up in iCloud. Happy to stand corrected if this is not the case. I made a copy of my keychain folder before I started, just to be on the safe side, but didn't need it.So what exactly gets messed up from doing this….?
Is it just Mac passwords?
Is this the one in ~/Library/Keychains….?I made a copy of my keychain folder before I started, just to be on the safe side, but didn't need it.
Yes.Is this the one in ~/Library/Keychains….?
