Saw it yesterday. It was fun and a good little creepy movie. I too was worried about the Blair Witch thing, which sucked. This was more intimate and claustrophobic. I enjoyed it.

Not scary at all. If the last 30 min of the movie were like the rest of the movie it would be amazing.

The last 45 minutes for me made me stay awake the whole night. Apparently there were strong winds that day and it made it very chilly for me, and added on to the fact that the chandellions in my house were swaying slightly too.

Yes, the cashier did not do their job. At any theater I have ever been to, they ask for your ID if you don't look 18 before you buy the tickets. I would call for their manager and take your stubs in there and tell them what happened. I'm sure they can work out a comped movie or something.

Heh I'm 33 and I still get carded. It's kinda cute when someone half my age behind the counter asks to see my ID.

Back on topic - I don't get scared at movies, probably because I know it's not real, so spooky films just don't do it for me. I'll pass.

:confused::confused:
Dude. I spent my entire life in Salem. I remember when this LAW passed. What the **** are you talking about? It's not policy. Your logic has the worst fallacies. No, they would not have to verify who watches the broadcasts. That's why they edit movies.

IT'S LAW

the theater near me hands out rear-end spankings as punishment for breaking the rating laws. Every year of age under 18, you get 10 spankings by the resident popcorn maker (whose hands are very buttery)
So if you are 15, you get 30 spankings.

Movie ratings, TV ratings, game ratings, parental advisory labels on music, etc, are not law. A local municipality may enact their own laws, but nationally, they're not law, which means if a movie theater sold a 10 year old a ticket to an R rated movie, they are not breaking the law, just company policy.

Porn is the only type of entertainment where there is a law restricting it to people above a certain age.

Speaking of dumb theater policy, awhile back my brother and I went to see an R rated movie. Forgot which one, but I was 18 or 19 at the time which would've made him 13 or 14. The person working in the box office refused to sell him a ticket. So we just walked over to the automated kiosk where you can purchase tickets and bought them and had no problems

or you can ask for 2 tickets...and then when you walk up to the ticket separator...and if he says anything about you being underage...you say...what you gonna do about it..give me my ticket, bit$%. it works as long as the worker is under 5,10 and under 180 lbs.

I'll admit that i personally have never seen a scary/horror movie (they never appealed to me i guess...). That said, i just got back from viewing the movie.

Was it supposed to be a comedy? The whole audience laughed through the whole thing. It was absolutely hilarious. I have no idea how people thought it was actually terrifying. I guess the last 30 minutes were a bit frightening, but it was all highly predictable. I would rather have my $10 back

So I will probably get flamed for this but whatever.

For whatever reason in my life, I have always been afraid of poltergeists, demons, etc. This movie found that little part of me, and twisted it to an entirely new level, what makes it worse to me is that this really did happen (true story), and that alone just scares the crap out of me. I personally think that I have an extreme tolerance of fear, and nothing jumping out at me ever scares me ever, nothing like that has ever, but the way the movie built on one thing after another, and the ending really drove it home for me, the last 20 or so minutes killed me. I can honestly say I have never been more afraid in my entire life. I was getting shivers the whole nine yards. I really thought it was an EXCELLENT (cant call it horror, more of a thriller, mind f***) movie.

To make sure you realize that I dont get scared easily like most little boys and girls, Blair Witch did NOTHING for me, any current major horror movie did not do it for me. I can honestly say no movie has ever scared me but this, this scared the crap out of me.

They did a great job capturing the film and making it seem real (original budget was only 15k iirc). It wasn't really scary per say but it was ****ed up.

Their budget was indeed 15 grand, and it was certainly f'ed up. If you saw the alternate ending, that too was screwed up.

Same here, 34 and actually got carded for Paranormal Activity. I smiled at the girl behind the counter and could only think, "I'm old enough to be this girl's older aunt". Then I felt old all day -.-

As to the movie, like everyone has been saying, it's pretty uneventful and dull till the last half hour or so. The ending was seriously craptastic,
it's one of those scary face, "Boo" moments, like those chain emails from a couple years back
.

***dont really think any of this is a spoiler...since it doesnt really tell you anything really haha***

technically speaking the ending with the cops is the original ending but it was deemed too realistic/boring.

some people have said that the current ending leads to possible sequels (doubt it)

in general, i thought it was okay....would be way scary if you were in an old dark house in the middle of nowhere watching this. One thing though was when i was watching it, i knew it was fake and I was always comparing it to the other "fake" scary movies with all the gore and special effects.

I remember with Blair Witch, there was a pretty large group of people who really thought it was a real videotape...and that authenticity lasted for a while. (also blair witch was a HUGE rent-a-movie)...which I think added to the scariness.

Yeah. But this show makes you inner mind all wary for the supernatural compared to the other more expensive flicks which scare you for some time. And yeah, they made a hell of a profit out of this movie.

I just saw the original ending. It's much better and scarier. I bet the studio made them change it.

It's not a bad movie, but it's also not that it is cracked up to be either. After reading reviews I expected to be some real scary movie. Spent most of the time wanting to punch the chics boyfriend for being such a dumb azz.
