Just watched this last night at home by myself and it did scare me good a few times. I thought it was a good movie going into it with no clue what to expect. I hadn't seen any trailers or read any reviews so going in blind I was pleasantly surprised with this film. I would recommend it

I just saw the original ending. It's much better and scarier. I bet the studio made them change it.

where did you see this original ending? link?

Paranormal Activity is way overhyped. It was ~90 of my life that I will never get back. Basically it's two idiots with a camera recording noises in their house, and at the end a possessed woman giving the camera the evil eye.

I want my ~90 minutes and my $7 back.

What were you expecting, Michael Bay?

or Pm. I don't know why but for the time being I am set on knowing what happened in that original ending.

Either way I would appreciate you taking the time to do so.;)

OK- essentially the camera stays where it is, in the bedroom for the rest of the film, just like in the version you saw. But in the original, after we see Micah run from the bedroom to help Katie who we hear screaming, we hear a struggle, then silence. Katie walks back up the stairs to the bedroom and sits by the bed. She stays there for a day while the phone rings, people knock on the front door, etc. Then while she's still sitting there next to the bed, we hear her friend come in, discover Micah downstairs and run screaming from the house. The police come, go through the house and then up to the bedroom where Katie is sitting. She lunges at them in the hallway with a knife and they shoot her. During this time, the camera never moves. I thought it was much cooler.

:eek:That was the exact ending I watched last nite! I thought it was good ending too. It was crazy how she just sat there rocking back and fourth for what, like 17 hours. Cool movie

They should never have changed it. It was brilliant the way it was, and a lot more powerful. But Hollywood just can't resist screwing up a good thing.

Good ol' Hollywood- I'm pretty sure they made Rob Zombie chop up the first Halloween. A lot of the scenes just didn't seem complete. Damn shame.

Yeah, when Katie came back in the room by herself with the knife I was going nuts. You know the more I think about this film the more I like it.

Yes I watched both ending and prefer the original one as well. I hope the dvd comes with the optional ending...

Thank Steven Spielberg for that one. I believe he was the one that suggested the alternate ending. I liked it for what it was. I saw it before it was released and before all the hype..that probably helped.

I had very high expectations, but was very disappointed. It seems like it was based off an episode of Paranormal State.

SPOILERS

Well, to be clear, Katie starts to come to, kind of like she did when she came out of her trance after she came upstairs from sitting on the swing. She's still got the knife in her hand, which is why the police shoot her.

I haven't seen the "Hollywood" ending. How's that one end?

Kinda dumb though. When I watched it, I was thinking the entire time, "Doesn't this guy have any friends? Man, if this kind of thing happened to me, every buddy I have would be camping out at my house every night to catch all the cool stuff."

This whole movie is predicated on the boyfriend character being an idiot.

Psychic dude: Don't do X
Idiot character: Hey, I'ma do X

SPOLIER

The Hollywood ending, after she throws him to the camera, she moves closer to the body, gets on all fours and sniffs the Micah's body, and slowly looks up to the camera until her whole face fill sup the screen with a "disturbing scream?"

*SPoilers*

I thought it was great, but that was because it seemed so realistic with their interactions. I felt like I was actually watching home videos. The dragging scene was just plain messed up. The ending freaked me out because I think to much and all I could imagine was the guy running downstairs, not a thing on his mind other than saving his girlfriend, only to run into his death. Then the thuds as she carries his body up the stairs. I thought it was great.
I was incredibly stoned at the time;)

Well, everyone I watched it with knew that the knife was going to play a role from the way the boyfriend character was waving it around in one of the first scenes. That was a Chekhov's gun if I ever saw one.

Plus, we started laying bets during Katie's rocking back and forth when she still had the knife whether or not the police were going to shoot her.

I think I would have liked the Hollywood ending better.

Oh yeah, and I think Katie is hot as hell.

The hollywood ending definatly freaked the audience out, she stood in the doorway for a while after his body hits the camera and its downright creepy.

This was the first movie in ten years (yes im only 18) that sent a chill down my spine (it was the dragging scene that did it).

Edit: As for katie's hotness, I was struggling with it the whole film. She had scenes where she definitely was a cutie, others....not so much.

Well, overall, I liked it. Every time the camera stopped fast forwarding, it's like, ooh, what happens next? I don't like gory horror flicks and the only gory scene was the bit where the girl on the internet chews off her own arm.

I liked Katie's look for no other reason than she didn't look all.. Hollywood, if that makes any sense.

I know exactly what you mean, it added to the realism of the film IMO

meh...i guess if you are going for that average look..sure..but she wasnt that good looking...just putting that out there...average..sure..
